Behold.
The Great Gods of Old.
In times long ago.
The Great Gods of Old
Did come to Azguard to Mould.
Their fold.
Five hundred thousand years before the present day, when Azguard was much younger, the mountains much taller, and the people savage and feral.
Two Dozen of the mightiest organisms known to any race across the galaxy drifted quietly to the surface. They were to be known as the Great Gods of Azguard.
These beings were around fifty feet high, gray as the rocks, and humanoid. They were weak, curled into balls, dotted across the mountain peaks of Azguard, alone and confused at the sudden end to their millenia of space travel.
Their names shall forever be remembered thus:
Yunos,
Relokan,
Herluy,
Jarvis,
Argrak,
Ishon
Dolash
Ourvix
Yolem
Regrad
Terk
Ivak
Jarl
Quex
Eretri
Sparch
Olym
Honok
Dyer
Opal
Ast
Lif
Varn
Morgo
They each were weak and wretched, but slowly they began to adapt to their environment, High levels of midi chloriens supporting them in these formative years.
Their weak cell structure began to reconfigure parts of their DNA as their environment and diet affected them. Sort of an advanced evoloution, a survival technique to survive in these dangerous places.
But the barbarous Azguard tribes found them, and saw their terrible power. The Great Gods took pity on these primitive beings. they nurtured them, and taught them, and the tribes came out of the dark age and into the bright light of civilization.
Great was their joy at their newfound freedom. Great was their joy as their new Gods showed them the way. Each tribe had oe particular God that was their own, and each of these Deities had a particular element of the world that their cell structure had adapted to, lke fire, or water, or the earth itself.
But like many things this joy was shattered.
One deity had no adaption. He suffered from a genetic flaw preventing the usual ability to change. He taught his people to be jealous, and envy the powers and strengths of others.
He was Jarl, and he spoke unto Ast one day, and fooled him into thinking that Opal had begun to encroah onto his territory. Jarl went to all the Gods, lying about everything and anything. He tricked them no matter how wise with his cunning lies and deception. When he was done the Gods adamently loathed one another.
Then Jarl began the war. His tribe shot flaming arrows onto the rooftops of the homes of Regrads' tribesmens' houses. Regrad believed it was Relokan, God of Fire, and war began. More wars broke out smilar to this, and soon everyone was fighting everyone. Jarl laughed, for he was free from this war.
Then, suddenly, it came that Varn smote down Mogo in his wrath. The gods panicked as they realized they could kill each other, and the wars intensified, until half the gods were left. Then the survivors realised that Jarl had propagated the whole thing.
including Jarl there were twelve left. Five had been corrupted by Jarls' Lies and sided with him, but the other six, Yunos, Relokan, Herluy, Jarvis, Argrak, and Ishon warred them.
At the end of the war, the six Corrupt Gods were banished from the planet, and were not seen again.
The remaining six gods saw how dangerouse their powers were and so were entombed to sleep forever in the Six Great Tombes. Each contained one of these ancient gods who sleeps still. These are the Gods of old, who wait to be awoken.
