The cool, crisp sunset enlightened her as she sat aboard the Diplomatic CR-90 Corellian Corvette, the first ship of the Divine Fleet. It had been named <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Eternity<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->, which the Queen found suitable, as the ship was named during the midst of a massive galactic war between the Rogue Empire, and the New Order. Resting her head on the seal of the window, she offered herself a relaxing sigh as she watched the sun of Orion set. It was truly a beautiful planet; one that she saw fit to bring into the Order. Lifting her head from the window seal, she grabbed a hair brush, and began running it through her soft, brown hair as she stood. A soft, classical Alderaanian rhythm was playing softly in the background. The ship, though small, was more than suitable for a Queen. It’s soft, elegant rugs matched the seating in the common room of the ship, and bore the Insignia of the Divine Order in a beautiful blue, and white. She truly did love this ship. On the walls were several antique paintings, all of which were obviously of an extreme cost, and class.
Sighing softly, she rested her head in her bed, which easily dominated her room, just off of the Common room. Entering, one of her personal assistance sighed, as if frustrated as she began walking around, picking up the Queen’s belongings. Gretta Van Sustren, head of the Queen’s personal collection of handmaids, and servants rested the back of her hands on her hips as she looked at her, shaking her head in disapproval. “Selesa Malyndar! I swear there is no pleasing you!” Gretta’s frown turned into a smile as Selesa looked up at her from her bed.
“Gretta, you know you don’t have to do that. One of the younger handmaids can do that.”
Gretta stopped dead in her tracks, tossing the dirty dresses, and clothes into a hamper, and turning back to Selesa. “Selesa, I’ve been serving the Malyndar family for about forty five years now. I served your mother, and father, and now I serve you. These old arms can still work for there share.”
Selesa laughed at Gretta’s tone, and sat up on the edge of her bed, kicking her legs as she had when she was a child. She watched as Gretta continued her chores, and smiled. “Gretta, as your Queen, I ask that you please stop working.”
Gretta, defiant in her old age, continued working without a word. Selesa rolled her eyes. “I don’t get you Gretta, I really don’t. You’re like a grand mother to me, and yet you still wait on me hand and foot. It worries me.”
Gretta laughed as she continued picking up random items, and fixing there position, now dusting off the vanity in the center of the starboard wall. “Perhaps when I reach an age where I can no longer wait on you, you will take care of me in return for my services.”
Standing, Selesa walked to Gretta, and put her soft hand on her old, frail arm. Gretta was about fifty four, and still fought back as if she were an infant. “Gretta, you know as well as I do that when that time comes, you will be taken care of, in more ways than you can imagine. Not only you, but your Grand children, and there children, and so on, and so fourth. The Van Sustren family has done nothing but show loyalty and compassion for the Royal Family of Dreena, and for that, the monarchy is eternally grateful. You, and your descendants will be well rewarded.”
Gretta paused, looking into Selesa’s soft, caring eyes. Putting her old hands around her body, the two embraced each other, tears in there eyes. Pausing, Selesa wiped the tears from Gretta’s eyes, and then her own. With a sniffle, she continued to speak.
“Now, stop working and have a drink with me.” she said, smiling at Gretta.
Gretta turned her head slightly to the side, squinting her eye as if she were in deep consideration. “Ooh, alright!” she said, and followed Selesa to the common room, where soldiers of the Divine Guard stood motionless, almost as if they were statues. They were truly a well trained bunch. They never spoke. They never flinched. It hardly seemed as if they breathed sometimes. It was kind of scary, but Selesa had grown up with it, and it no longer bothered her.
Stepping up to a small bar, Selesa poured the two of them a drink. Corellian Tea with a Jailiac Calmarian Aquatic Sweetener. The drinks turned a bright red upon putting the small spices into them, and upon being mixed, the drinks turned back to there original brownish-red tint. Sitting down at a small, round table, the two smiled at each other, taking a drink of there tea. Neither of them spoke for a moment. They looked like to school children having a tea party in a beautiful meadow on a hot day.
“Selesa, you know Lord Regent Gue is going to be upset with you if he finds out about this. He strictly forbids you to leave the Palace without his esteemed permission, and security measures.”
Nodding her head, Selesa confirmed Gretta’s words. She took another sip of her drink, and set it down, folding her hands, and resting her chin on them as the elbows rested on the table.
“He wouldn’t be upset. He’d kill me. I guess it’s a good thing he is away on a mission to IDTech with my sister, Brooke.”
Gretta smiled, and took another long sip of her drink before replying with a giggle.
“You know, I kind of understand his reasoning. The Galaxy is in a hostile state, right now. Galactic Warfare, space pirates, criminals, outlaws, Ssi-Ruuvi, it’s all very disturbing.”
Smiling, Selesa nodded her head, but kept it on her folded hands.
