The Anointing (Rethus Darklight)

A strong wind rushed across the training grounds within the restricted walls of The Naboo Sith Order.

... A place that Zeta had promised himself to never teach from, ever again.

Stretching across the depths of The Naboo Sith Order, the Master reached out to his Apprentice.

Come... your training awaits you...

The Zabrak had been chosen to train another in the dark arts, and despite his hesitation to take another to mold, he willingly accepted.

A boy, surprisingly.

It amused the red and black tattooed figure slightly to be recognized as a mentor by Rethus. (The boy he would take to train.)

The Zabrak was not one of the most pleasant figures to look upon, at least by appearance. His appearance alone gave great reason to cower in fear, at least in the eyes of a child.

Indeed Rethus was still a child, but he would not be that way for long.

Come boy.. Korriban awaits you... soon..

Master and Apprentice, Zeta and the boy were now linked. Darklight would seek the Zabrak out as he was meant to do.

.. The boy's first test...

He was not yet fully accepted as Zeta's apprentice, not until the Zabrak was found. Then and only then could the boy call him master.

Once his test was complete, then the two would travel their way to the dark world of Korriban.

The boy was awakened suddenly, as if for no reason at all. He sat bolt upright in his bed. What had he heard? It was unknown to him.

As he got dressed and clipped his dual vibroblades to his belt, he heard it again.

Come... your training awaits you...

He looked towards the door, half-expecting to see his new master standing there. But there was no one in the dimly lit halls of the order. He walked towards the door, his robes flowing lightly behind him. As he entered the halls he heard another message, get louder as he walked.

Come boy... Korriban awaits you... soon...

The boy turned on his heels, looking back towards his quarters. When he saw nothing, he continued to walk.

As he drew closer to the training grounds where he presumed his master would be waiting, the boy felt a shiver run down his spine. Not knowing why, he knew he was getting closer. He could feel his master waiting.

When he stepped out onto the grass, another shiver ran up his spine, and he shuddered, either from the chilly morning breeze, or from something else. He looked out over the grass, searching for his master. Not far away he saw a tall figure clothed in black. In fact, his entire appearance was black except for a dash of red upon his face. Rethus remembered the day before in which his master revealed his face to the boy. Although it was for a meer second he could see his master's face, his black and red tatoos were distinct.

Pulling his cloak tighter around him, he walked towards where his master stood. When he reached him, he spoke slowly, but with an air of confidence.

"I have arrived, master." He felt foolish saying this, as he knew of the Sith's ability to sense the presence of others. Instead of correcting himself, he remained silent.

The Zabrak did not acknowledge Rethus presence, the black robed figure immediately setting into the boy's first lesson.

"The force is an energy field created by all living things, it surrounds and pierces everything, binding the galaxy together Life, death, creation and devastation, these are things reflected within the force..."

Zeta paused in his lecture and in that moment, an overwhelming dark power washed over Rethus.

"... But most of all, Rethus, the force brings power."

The red and black tattoo skinned figure opened his arms before him; effortlessly gesturing to the power he spoke of.

"Feel the power, Rethus, what does it bring to you?"

He knew the boy could feel the power of the darkside, after all, he'd found Zeta easily enough.

Rethus suddenly felt cold, as if it had suddenly turned to winter, Zeta's doing. The boy resisted the urge to shudder.

Though he did not fully understand what his master meant by asking what the force brought to him, but he would answer as well as he knew how.

"The force brings... control. Power. A knowledge and power enough to teach those who know no respect for the Sith a lesson they will not forget. A Power enough to destroy those who cause us pain."

The boy's face hardened, but the trace of curiosity was still there as he gazed expectantly upon the horizon for... whatever it was the Sith Lord was now surveying so attentively. When he saw nothing of any real interest, he looked back into the red and black-tatooed face of his master.

After a moment, he remembered something he heard on his way to the training grounds...

'Korriban awaits you...'

The boy spoke again, once again his curiosity taking control.

"Um, Master? What exactly did you mean by 'Korriban awaits you...'?"

Uncertainty was something that could easily lead one down the path of the darkside. Such an attribute radiated off of Rethus, something that failed to please the Zabrak.

The attribute represented weakness in the Zabrak's eyes. He would purify the young boy of it, in time, at least.

He sensed that the boy sought redemption. Redemption would be the center most thing Rethus would feed off of to connect with the darkside.

"...Korriban awaits you... I speak of the darkside, Rethus, surely you would have known this..."

Without saying another word the Sith walked past his apprentice. Korriban would serve the Zabrak's purpose well...

Rethus stood for a moment, thinking over the Zabrak's words, then turned to follow him.

On route to Korriban...

As the shuttle launched into hyperspace the Zabrak could not help but ponder over the dark world of Korriban. A land enriched with the darkside, an eminent world of darkness.

If the Zabrak was to teach the boy of the dark arts, he needed a place where the boy could not only listen, but also feel for the words that the Sith spoke of, Korriban fit the list.

With his hands clasped behind his back, gaze falling to look out the shuttle's main viewport, he questioned Rethus.

"What made you leave Korriban?"

As he sat looking out the front viewport, he heard his master speak.

'What made you leave Korriban?'

At this, the boys face hardened. He continued to look out the window. Now that he was returning to Korriban, he was thinking more and more about why he left, and why he joined the Naboo Sith Order. After a moment, he replied,

"I left Korriban because... well, my father wasn't the most legitimate of businessmen. He was often away from home for weeks at a time, and my 3 sisters and older brother could never figure out what he did while he was away.

One day, not long after he had returned home from 'work,' two men came to our apartment. When I answered the door, they asked to see my father. And, when he came to the door, my mother took us all into the kitchen. All I heard were voices, but I couldn't tell what they were saying, because my sisters kept asking who they were and such. A few seconds later, I heard my dad shouting something, and footsteps started coming from the livingroom. One of the men at the door came into the kitchen and said something about 'regards from Mr. Virgo. I heard blaster fire in the livingroom, and mom told me, my sisters, and my brother to run. I stayed behind while my brother took the sisters to the front door. The men... killed... my mother and father."

At this Rethus pauses, the images of his mother, and father, lying in the floor, a puddle of blood forming on the floor. The boy takes a deep, shuddering breath, and a single tear falls from his eye.

"As we were running away, the men saw us. The shot at us as we ran. My brother had to carry my youngest sister. Before we could get away, my brother and two of my sisters were shot.

I took my first sister's hand and dragged her into the elevator, and we caught the shuttle to the spaceport.

When we arrived, my sister and I meant to stow away and get off the planet, but we were seperated. I still managed to get onto a ship to Naboo. There I met a man, who recognized my enhanced reflexes and speed as force-sensitivity. And now... I'm here, headed back to where it all started, 8 years ago...

The boy was surprised at the fact that he felt better, now that he had had time to vent the anger and pain he felt. Truth be told, he'd forgotten who he was talking to. He quickly remeinded himself of his training, and his obligation to the sith.

It was just at when the boy finished his story that the Zabrak knew what he needed to do...

... But he would save the voicing of such matters for when they set foot near Korriban.

Rethus had been most fortunate to not have Zeta see his face as he had shed the one single tear.

His story was spoken with some ease, hints of anger seeping through. It did not please the Lord, only seeming to distinguish the fact that the Zabrak had a lot of work ahead of him.

"You are weak, Rethus... but in time, you will become strong. The power of the darkside will see to that."

The shuttle fell out of hyperspace; it would not be long before they reached Korriban.

"We have land to conquer... It's time you paid a visit to home."

Rethus did not much like his master calling him 'weak,' and he didn't much like the idea of going home. Though home was indeed special to him, it bore the blood of most of his family. The boy looked up from the viewport, and spoke.

"What will we do when we arrive, master?"
