ooc:This is the thread for the Sigma class Defence Station
IC: The Sigma Class Defence Station orbited lazily around the Codian Moon. Hundreds of kilometers below it nerf's were grazing lazily on wood-moss and the Onyxian Commonwealth's latest planet was going about it's normal business. The Station was one half of the Commonwealth's immediate addition to the defence of the planet. More ships would be added later on but currently there was just the station, <i>Codian I</i> and it's Heroic Support Ships <i>G'noth</i> in position around the moon.
Commander Obsh looked out the viewport at the Codian Moon, the planet that he had been entrusted to protect. It was slightly distorting seeing the planet rotate below him but not feeling any movement.
"Sir, Pirate attack in Sector 12!"
Pirates had been the reason why the Codian Moon had joined the Onyxian Commonwealth and they were the main reason he was out here. Consulting the map that his communications officer had helpfully brought up on his display screen he saw that Sector 12 was nearly all the way around the planet.
"They must have plotted our orbit," he said. "Order the <i>G'noth</i> to attach to us and transport us to Sector 12."
"Yes Sir!" the communications officer replied.
"Shields up! Load all Torpedo Banks, prep all weapons."
Obsh settled back into his command chair. Finally he would have a chance to test out the awesome war machine at his command. This would be the first combat test of the Sigma and he was sure it would perform better than expected.
As the station continued in it's orbit sped up at nearly impossible speeds by the <i>G'noth</i> Obsh began to be able to make out the pirates. They were armed with a Nebulon Frigate and what appeared to be three squadrons of starfighters. Not a large force, but certainly more than enough for the squadron of Codian Forces currently fighting them.
"Order the Codian fighters to withdraw towards us." Obsh ordered.
He smiled as the fighters fled with their enemies close on their tails.
"Open up with the Laser Cannons!"
The numerous Quad Laser Cannons on board the <i>Codian 1</i> began to pump out terrawatts of energy against the Enemy fighters. Within a minute the fighters were decimated with only a few fighters left to be picked off by the Codian Forces.
"We're in range of the Frigate sir!"
"Order the Codian Forces out of there and open up fire with the Torpedo Banks with spread of 30 m."
120 Proton Torpedoes flashed out in a seemingly never ending wave. The first few torpedoes impacted against the shields opening up a tiny hole that was then exploited by more and more torpedoes following them. A huge flash erupted and Obsh was forced to close his eyes. When he opened them he saw that the only remains of the Frigate were a few armored plates and a rapidly expanding cloud of dust. The Frigate had been utterly smashed.
Obsh smiled, "Excellent work! Have the <i>G'noth</i> settle us back in normal orbit."
The Sigma Defence Station had proven itself to be a most worthy adversary. It could easily destroy or severely damage nearly any ship fielded by any of the various governments in the galaxy. Coupled with the Heroid Support Ships any planet with even a few Sigma's orbiting it would be nearly impervious.
