Trandosha Space: Bloodfang
Tiosk winced at the damage reports that came in. “Ooohhhh man….this girl is going to be in the shop for a loooong time.”
“We could always consider it an extended shore leave sir.” One of his officers said.
“But where would we go for such shore leave?” Tiosk countered. “We may have control of the space side of things in regards to our rebellion, but the surface is an entirely different matter. Hyossk may be dead, but there are too many unknown factors down there…the Army for instance.”
“Point taken sir.”
“By the way…any sign of the Gory Teeth? With the battle over she should have showed back up by now…”
“Negative sir…the last known coordinates of the Gory Teeth were just within the zone of influence Trandosha’s gravitational field would have the greatest effects. I have asked the other ships if they had any idea where she went, so far no response.”
“Keep looking…last thing we need is to lose Naosha and her daughter.”
“Sir…incoming transmission from one of the Wookiee ships.” The comm. offider suddenly spoke up. “They say they last saw Naosha’s ship entering Trandoshas atmosphere with no apparent control over itself.”
“’No apparent control over itself’?” Tiosk echoed. “Kazuk…they must have been hit by an ion shot. Get someone to send a fighter squad down to scan the surface of the planet. Let’s pray they survived the crash...”
Trandosha: Cave
After letting out all her frustrations out on the skeleton, Varcanna resigned herself to sitting near the entrance of the cave, watching for potential rescuers. Naosha had borrowed her light and was exploring the cave a bit more: now that the skeleton was destroyed the place wasn’t the least bit scary to her now. She tried to count the number of ‘kill tallies’ on the walls, but kept losing count for there were just too many too count.
At one point as she was moving close to the chamber wall, her foot brushed up against something that was either not solid or wasn’t ‘attached’ to the floor. Kneeling down she dug into the layer of soft soil and dust that covered the floor to reveal what it was. She found a partly rusted metal shaft and as she continued to uncover it she was surprised at what she found.
“Varcanna.” Varcanna heard her mother called to her, sounding excited.
“What is it mother?” She asked, turning around to see her mother run up with something she didn’t expect to see in this cave.
It was a halberd, six feet long from end to end, the shaft solid metal with indications that it once had a leather grip that had rotted away long ago. The ‘axe’ part of the blade was a large crescent that reached down over a foot of the length of the shaft. The other half of the blade reached only a half a foot down the shaft, the last third forming a hooked spike.
“I found this in the dust of the chamber.” Naosha said. “Do you realize what this has to be?”
“The weapon of the founder…” Varcanna said softly. Her hands shaking, she took the ancient weapon from her mother and inspected it closely. The blade itself was badly rusted, but the shaft was unblemished enough for her to see an inscription on it. “’The beginning and end of all things.’” She read out loud. “It’s rather short for a halberd. Trazu could use this…” The mention of her brother’s name stung them both, but it made something dawn on her. She did a quick inspection of the end told her it hadn’t been broken or otherwise cut shorter: it was supposed to be this small. “Mother…I think our ancestor was as short or nearly as short as Trazu…”
“A runt in other words…like Trazu.” Naosha said. “’The beginning and end of all things’…that…sounds strangely ironic, almost prophesy like. Do you think…”
The roar of engines overhead stopped both their musing. Suddenly reminded of their predicament, they huddled close to the wall of the cave tunnel and watched anxiously outside as a fighter craft hovered over the downed hulk of the Gory Teeth not far away. It was only a small measure of relief when they recognized the ship as a ‘fang’ ship, the standard fighter class Trandoshan destroyers had onboard, for there was no telling the pilot himself was on their side. They tensed as the ship turned and flew toward them, following the still evident trail they had left when they walked here, and landed only fifty yards away. The canopy of the bullet shaped craft opened, the pilot hopped out and approached the cave entrance.
“Counselor Naosha.” He called out. “Are you there?”
“Depends on if you are friend or foe.” Varcanna hissed.
The pilot chuckled. “Friend, Captain Tiosk sent a bunch of us out to find you: he’s worried sick. Are you hurt?”
“No, thank the gods.” Naosha said stepping out into the sun, Varcanna following. “My daughter’s skilled piloting saved both our hides. If Tiosk spared fighters to come look for us, the battle must be over…”
“Indeed madam.” The pilot said. “We managed to convert all the Wookiee ships save one. Admiral or should I say former Admiral Buuwa fought to the bitter end. Captain Tzhali had to ram his ship to finally end it.”
“So that Wook finally decided to rejoin us only to sacrifice himself…”
“Actually he escaped in a shuttle just as the two ships exploded. Tiosk was a bit peeved the Wookiee muscled in on his gig of daredevil stunts.”
Naosha laughed and Varcanna afforded herself a good chuckle. “That’s Tiosk for you.”
Council of Elders
Rissonik and Russis arrived a short while later, Asri nodding respectfully to Rissonik as he approached.
“A rather…messy way to do the job isn’t it?” Russis said when he saw the remains of the marine, looking slightly disgusted.
“It’s a living.” Asri said with a shrug.
“Russis, glad to see you have made it.” Councilor Shissa said. “And it’s good to see you again Rissonik.”
“A pleasure to see you again as well Councilor.” Rissonik said, bowing slightly. “It seems your plan worked a bit better then expected.”
“Indeed.” The female Councilor said. “It was a surprise to us all when Hyssok went insane and ended up killing himself for us. But that is the past…we need to discuss the future.”
They followed the Councilor’s into the subchamber, Rissonik asked two of the warriors to guard the door and the rest to patrol the immediate hallways: Asri he asked to join them inside.
The first then they quickly desided on was to lit Marshall Law off the planet. Other issues were a bit more tricky to work out however.
“I don’t think we should decide on a new Speaker-Above-All until the last open position is ‘offically’ refilled.” One Councilor said, eyeing Rissonik suspicisiously.
“Why do you think Rissonik is here?” Shissa asked. “He is here as a ‘steward’ for Naosha.”
“But Naosha was removed, thus he has no power at all.”
“But considering the reasons for Naosha’s removal and what we know now…wouldn’t it be a good time to at least reevaluate her position?”
There were a few mumbles in the group. “How do we know if her ideals were just a mask for something more devious?”
“I can assure you my lifemate has nothing but the safety and interest of our people as a whole in mind.” Rissonik said. “If you have been paying attention to what we have actually been doing you would see that all our actions here have been peaceful overall. The acts of violence and lost of life that resulted were purely in self defense and deeply regretted.”
“And remember that the acts of violence were almost completely started by Hyossk himself, not the Separatists.” Russis added.
There were a few solemn nods of agreement. “Very well…we will consider reinstating her.” One Councilor said. “However we would like to speak to Naosha herself to hear her ideas from her own lips. Do you per chance know where she is?”
Rissonik casted his eyes to the floor, looking mildly depressed. “I’m afraid not. Last I heard anything on her was some time ago, when a third party that was assisting us gave me word of her condition. I do not know where she is, or what accomplishments she has made since we split the group.”
“We do know from recent reports that a rather nasty battle had recently taken place in our space.” One Councilor said. “You already likely know about the Sovereign…and it’s subsiquient destruction, but there was another battle not long after. One where it was rumored that Naosha was present at according to my sources.”
Rissonik stared hard at the Councilor, looking hopeful. “Please elaborate.”
“After the Soveriegn exploded, a small fleet of Wookiee ships arrived on the scene. Instead of taking advantage of our fleets confusion due to the sudden demise of the Fleet Admiral and Hyssok, they assisted them in getting the ships back up and tending to any injured.”
“I had yet to hear of this…” Another Councilor said. “Wookiees helping us…after all we have done to them…”
“It is proof that Naosha’s dream can work.” Shissa said, the other Councilors nodding in agreement.
