Yawn. Was it so unreasonable to believe that the Centrality Commander would be able to enjoy a few things other than his five hours at home? Apparently that was beyond unreasonable because here he was sitting through another one of those boring meetings where some lackey was telling him about the new assignment. Yeah, it was probably important, but he sure would rather be anywhere else right about then. Anywhere but this place. Though that wasn’t likely to happen.

“ThonBoka is located in the in the StarCave Nebula. While it is not an actual planet, it is the home of multitudes of space faring, vacuum-breathing beings. Among these are the intelligent winged being known as the Oswaft…”

“Can I ask you a question? Besides that one I mean. Why does the Centrality want to add this place to our government? I mean, besides the whole only one way in thing.”

“Well, I’m not honestly sure. All I know is that I was told to instruct you on this nebula and then you are to go there. As I was saying, the Oswaft are governed by a council of elders, which are located between three small stars in the center of the ThonBoka. While the actual ThonBoka is twelve lightyears in span, but the mimic is only a few thousand kilometers. The Oswaft can reach 1000 meters in length.”

“Wow. Now that’s interesting. These creatures can reach this magnitude and yet no one has seen one for quite a long time?”

The man who had been speaking nodded. “Correct. The Oswaft have a tendency to not leave their Nebula because they feel it be dangerous outside with the likes of us. Especially after Imperial Emperor Palpatine deemed them a threat and ordered them eradicated. You see, the being can enter hyperspace without assistance and he thought they might be a danger.”

“Ok, so this is getting more and more interesting by the moment. These Oswaft are huge, can enter hyperspace, are intelligent, and can fight? Now that’s what I call an asset. If they fought for us they would be like gigantic ships. Interesting.”

“Yes indeed. When Emperor Palpatine order them destroyed, the Empire’s ships blockaded the only entrance to the nebula in order to starve them to death. Somehow, Lando Calrissian was able to get the Oswaft to fight and with their help defeated the Imperial forces.”

“Very interesting. I can see why we should see if these Oswaft would join the Centrality. Thank you for the information. Soon as I can I intend to head over there personally. You’re dismissed.”

The man seated across from him nodded and excused himself from the room. That only left Adam and his aide. The aide, he noted, was just finishing up his notes on the session. He would need those notes in order to remember everything he could about these Oswaft being. Nodding to the woman, he stood up and excused himself from the room. He needed to go write up a requisition order for a fighter craft and escort. During times like these it should be a granted request.

A large hard wood, extremely polished desk sat in the middle of the room with a vast nothingness around it. Indeed it seemed to be in the middle of a black hole. Thankfully it was not because had it been, Adam Sorvin would have been no more. His feet rested on the desk with his datapad held in his lap. He was typing away like there was no tomorrow. It seemed that due to recent developments, acquiring a ship and an escort was getting harder and harder. Though he supposed it had something to do with the developments with the GC.

“So boring. What I really need is some nice young lady, not to skinny but not plump. That would take a load off my mind right now. But nooo… I gotta sit here and type away on my datapad so I can get a ship to ThonBoka.”

He tapped in the last few bits of the request and then sent it off to high command for processing. Tossing the datapad back onto the desk, he rubbed his hand across his eyes and through his hair. Sometimes he got so tired out by just the routine everyday stuff that he wondered if he was getting old. Of course he told himself that he wasn’t every time. There came a knock on his door and he breathed a sigh before acknowledging it.

“I was wondering if you had some time, sir.”

“For?”

“Well, I’m curious about the budget for this quarter. Do we really have the necessary funds to spend this much on ships? Seriously, I know we’re rolling in the dough, but where are we going with this?”

Adam threw his paperweight at the man. “Get out!”

The man, frightened by the flying paperweight, jumped and ran from the room. Adam hated when people came in out of nowhere so they could discuss expenditures or something else that was absolutely pointless. It was his time and they were wasting it on trying to get him to explain something that they should be able to figure out as well. They weren’t stupid. Or, at least he thought they weren’t. If they were they didn’t deserve to be here.

“Oh well. Guess I should be getting on home then. I need to get some rest. As if that will ever happen. Always get interrupted.”

Standing up, he grabbed his datapad and made for the door. Pushing it open, he stepped out into the hall only to see the man that had just come into his room duck beneath his desk across the hall. Rolling his eyes, Adam walked off down the hall to the entrance to the building. Passing through the clearance checkpoint, he moved out into the populace and headed for home.

Centrality Leader Rebekah Hawthorne had been sitting at her desk, going over datapad entries of requests for one thing or another. One had been about the budget on a ship and escort for this ThonBoka planet that the Centrality suddenly seemed interested in. She had to admit, having a species like the Oswaft to aide them in battle, was turning out to be the only highlight of this whole thing.

The aide of her Centrality Commander knocked on her office door, then opened the door quietly, edging in slowly. Rebekah waved her hand to beckon the woman in closer so they could speak in private. The Leader knew that this aide was assigned specifically to her Commander, Adam Sorvin. She even went so far as to request logs of the conversation that took place about ThonBoka. The aide handed her a datapad of the conversation, as well as a holovid recording of the meeting itself. Pressing a button, Bekah activated the holovid and read the datapad, making sure that both were accurate with each other.

“ThonBoka is located in the in the StarCave Nebula. While it is not an actual planet, it is the home of multitudes of space faring, vacuum-breathing beings. Among these are the intelligent winged being known as the Oswaft…”

Bekah was handed another datapad about Adam's request being approved and she groaned loudly. She had heard that her Commander had headed home, and as far as she was concerned, he could stay there. Sorvin complained too much for her taste about working too much and not having a woman. Sure, Bekah worked too much, and didn't have a mate or a husband, yet she never once complained about it. Perhaps once this takeover was finished, she would go searching for such a man to spend her life with. The Gods of Dameo sure knew she could use one right about now. She pressed looked up at Adam's aide and smirked.

"Get me that ship and escort. Now!"

The trip home was completely uneventful and he almost cursed his luck but he finally found a decent looking woman on the street. Stealing her away from the street, he led her on along towards his home. At first she resisted, but when she saw his rank insignia it was like instant compliance. Ahh the power of rank. His home wasn't large by any standards, but it was cozy enough for someone that wasn't big on squandering money. He let the two of them and immediately led her to the bedroom. After a few moments of undressing her, he smiled. Perfect. The sex was fantastic.

After the two of them were done they both fell asleep and Adam dreamt of strangely, large creatures that lived in space. It was quite creepy. When his commlink went off he almost jumped out of the bed but it was a good thing he didn't because the woman was curled up with her head lying on his bare chest. Gently moving her off of him, he stood and walked over to the dresser where he had set his commlink down earlier. He didn't even to bother putting on any pants.

"Yeah, what is it?" He said groggily.

"Sir... um... your ship and escort are being commandeered."

"What the fuck? Who the hell authorized that?"

"Ms. Howthorne did... sir."

"Son of a..." He cursed vehemently and the woman stirred in the bed a bit. "She leaves with my ship and I will be severely pissed. This is my mission. MY MISSION!"

"Ye... Yes, sir."

He threw the commlink down on the desk which resulted in a loud clang as it bounced. Rubbing a hand through his hair, he looked around for his pants. Spotting them underneath a chair on the other side of the room, he walked over and grabbed them before sliding into them. She might be my boss, but she is not stealing my ship. Walking over to the closet, he pulled out a clean uniform and tossed it on. There wasn't any time for showering right now and he frankly didn't care if he did smell. People could deal with it.

Having completely forgotten about the woman, he walked out of the room and not long after that walked out of the house. It wasn't very far from home to work, but he ran the whole way there anyways. It was a good thing he did because he caught Ms. Howthorne leaving just as he got there. He was lucky at best that he had caught up with her.

"I hear you're stealing my ship."

Bekah didn't bother answering him for a few moments as she boarded the ship. Once he got close enough, she could smell the sex still on him, and it served as a reminder as to how lonely her life was. The Leader crinkled her nose up at him. The least he could have done was showered first before coming here. Of course, she would have been gone by the time he got there. She didn't need to deal with that among the workload she already had.

"You left and went home. As far as I was concerned, this is my mission. You may be my Commander, but I have to put up with it since making you so was not my decision. But, you can always tag along, should you still want on this mission now that I have taken command."

Bekah was moving all about the ship, checking inventory and weapons and such for her trip. She wanted to be prepared for trouble, should any come looking for them to try and stop them. She was a firm believer in 'Shoot em all and let the Gods sort em out later' and 'Shoot first and ask questions later'. Bekah was known for not wanting any uninvited guests, and this was one of this times.

"I left and went hope because the ships aren't oging to be ready yet! For crying out loud! I just sent in the requisition today!"

He threw his arms up in disgust. Hot though she may be, Adam had his problems with this woman and never wanted to speak with her outside of work. Stealing his ships? They weren't even ready to be used yet and here she is trying to take command of them already. He was the one assigned to the mission, not her. He should be the one that was going. As far as he was concerned he was definately going to go. Even if he did have to drag her along.

"I am going on this mission. It was given to me and I intend to see it through. Besides, who between you and I is qualified for leading a naval force?"

The smirk he gave her was one of insolence. Sure she was ranked above him, but he was right in the words he said. He was the only one of the two of them qualified for leading a naval campaign. He was also right when he said that he was the one that had been assigned to the task of bringing ThonBoka to the Empire. She needed to be here leading the Centraility, not off galavanting around with him in search of this region of space. Of course, he couldn't actually make her stay. Such was the misfortunes if being of a lower rank.

Even though Rebekah would have liked to have this guy in bedroom, that would never be the case with Adam Sorvin. He was just too damned arrogant for her, and it was bad enough that her patience with him was wearing thin. Pulling herself up to her full 5'8" height, Bekah narrowed her ice blue eyes at him after pulling a few loose strands of blonde hair from them.

"Don't you dare take that tone of voice with me, Commander! As your commanding officer, I have full authority to take control of any and all missions involving the Centrality as I see fit, including this one. If you don't like it, by all means, resign. And don't let me stop you from doing so."

Bekah stormed down a long hallway and down a flight of stairs. There, she grabbed a datapad and began checking what cargo they had, and how their storgae space was holding up, as well as any weapons systems that were accessible from that level. She had to get away from Sorvin before she ended up either decking him, or kissing him. At the rate she was going, she would have kissed him first, then decked him. When she was finished, she spun around, only to smack right into him. She dropped her datapad and glared at him.

"Dammit, Sorvin! Why don't you go make yourself useless and take a shower? I have work to do, and I don't need you hovering over my every move."

The Oswaft, great flying masses that glided the blackness of space without aid of vessel or technology. Quite arguably the most intelligent of all natural space bourne entities, this species was reported to communicate in a manner which could baffle most common computer systems, even surpass them in loads of information carried. Of the few space-based races that considered Imperium space home, from the growing number of Miner's horror to the lesser seen Scree that plagued the Vergesso Belt, these were certainly the most likely to garner Imperium attention. So it was of little surprise when, after some political upheaval in the Centralities leadership, a task force was sent out to ThonBoka on an exploratory and diplomatic rendezvous.

Dispatched to Thonboka were the Akorec cruisers Nebula and Mist, serving as escorts and diplomatic envoy for the Centrality as well as forming a defense escort for a singular Fractal Assembler Swarm of Dameun origin. In contrast to their simple, singular design and roughly aerodynamic forms the Fractal Assembler Swarm was an ugly blip against the backdrop of space itself. While the Centrality ships were smooth and shimmered in the light of the countless stars that proudly shown their light upon them, the Dameun ship was dark and jaded. Nearly ever solid edge of it a broken edge forming a mountain of broken metal hurled through space. Yet it was magnificent to behold in all its wonder.

"Why has the Church sent an envoy to a simple diplomatic mission?" the comm officer spoke idly over his connection to the Mist's own comm officer. The Centrality had much more lax security when it came to military protocol and it seem borne out of good reason. In more recent times political upheaval seemed the order of the day, so generally for newer political offices it seemed that a happier military order would be a more obedient military order. This typically lead to a military of civilians, but as the Centrality as it name so suggested was so aptly placed out of danger it was an accepted practice by the Imperium. At least for the time being...

"Well, why wouldn't they? After all, new life and new professors of the faith and all that good stuff..." It made for a fairly weak argument, but she wasn't really making any strong points. Layla was bored and this other comms officer wasn't particularly all that entertaining either. The Church could do whatever it wanted to do, she didn't really care. Soon as this was done she would disembark to one of the more luxurious Centrality worlds and really unwind. Maybe something tropical.

"It just seems odd is all. These creature's are not even humanoid, do they even have a sense of life after this? All I'm saying is who knows what space borne life thinks about." It was true, these things lived well beyond the normal life cycles of non-enhanced human beings and bore none of the traditional objects that proceeded any historical religious icons. What would you think of a sun when you could fly close enough to one to get burned? Surely man didn't consider the fire God, so why would these... No, there had been elemental cults borne from the strength of fire and wind and earth... there really was no way to tell.

"You know, you really should not be trying to dictate what the Church can do, I hear they don't take kindly to that..." with that she cut the open connection, switching back to standby mode with a distinct smirk crossing her face. She could only imagine the little twit on the other ship shatting his pants at the thought of Church reprisal about a conversation held on an open communications frequency. Not that their was any big history of Church crackdowns on miscellaneous communications chatter involving them there had been some stories, and enough of them seemed true enough to put people in their place when it came to fear of it.

Before the assembled entourage grew a swirling of dust, particulates spread around space as unevenly and indiscriminantly as life itself gathering to one location from some gravity disturbance. Slowly coming together, clumping and rotating in this small whirlpool in space, directly before the Dameun ship. Much like a whirlpool of its namesake the collecting fragments of interstellar dust began to curve in on space itself, their very paths seeming to lead them inwards on a spiral towards some ultimate goal, of which there was only darkness. The pull became stronger and the Centrality ships found themselves pulled into the growing vortex like nothing more than the debris floating in it thus far; and so too did the FAS, not immune to its own devices. Space returned to what it once had been before their presence, a few kilo's of matter less than before, but relatively unchanged.

Being slammed back against ones seat wasn't a particularly pleasant sensation and yet completely unavoidable in many space time situations. The Dameun Quantum Drive proved to cause one of those many situations as it hurled the assembled group of ships through a tear in reality, flinging them none to subtly towards their destination far faster than ever could have been achieved otherwise. She had heard tell of another method used by Dameun military forces exclusively but only recently seen in the Tion sector. Very easy flying they had said, In and out were the words she had heard behind an uncomically thin euphemism for sex. How she wished, behind gritted teeth and tousled hair, that she had gotten the full benefit of Dameun technology and not this bastardization they had decided to send.

A swirling vortex of bright white light broke the stark contrast of interstellar space, whilst at the same time forming a brilliant match up to the brilliance of the ThonBoka Nebula. Blooming like a supernova just next door, a magnificence of light and matter exploded into spontaneous existence. For as dark as space itself was this shown itself as its direct opposite, creating a funnel of light that shot forth from it like a cannon upon the darkness. From it spewed bits of particulate matter in a slight stream of highly accelerated particles. Following these came forth larger and larger chunks of what seemed like asteroid material but far too many flat sides to be natural. The universe of itself was devoid of right angels with circles being its natural form, making whatever came that way instantly artificial.

Shot out like bullets from a gun, these bits and pieces flew on towards the nebula. Were its inhabitants knowledgeable of the galaxy at large they might have feared, super weapons came in many shapes and sizes and this one in particular resembled something straight out of the Empires guidebook to planetary terrorism. Fortunately these giant gentle beasts would not have to endure such an attack and certainly not from the Empire once again. The chunks floated on towards the gases of the nebula, reflecting the colors and shades of the lights that hit them, turning them from their ugly dull blacks and browns into brilliant shades of yellow and green. Entering the sole entrance of the Star Cave, these pieces then began to dissolve into smaller and smaller segments, soon vanishing from the visual range and entering what then could only be described as the sensor range.

The blossom of light wavered for a moment as Mist and Nebula shot out of it, controlled by their gravity dampeners and ion drives not to be hurled just the same as the rest of the material proceeding them, just before closing up behind them. Slowing to approach velocity of the caverns entrance, silence filled the bridges of both ships. Most knew of ThonBoka's existence and had seen at least one holo of it in their lives, the sheer magnitude of the sight in person was breath taking to behold, to say the very least. One thing of note was instantly apparent, though maybe to those of quicker higher brain functions at first than others, was a lack of Oswaft at the sole entrance of the Nebula itself. Considering its history and the current galactic political climate, one would have suggested that there would be some sort of mounted defense, even from creatures such as these.

"Readings on the Nebula?" Sir Johhnas Richsley, Captain of Mist inquired almost immediately. Quite prepared for some stupid joke about their sister ship, always an expectation for the worst he recalled.

"All appears normal, as we know it, sir..." The science officer began before checking his station once more before speaking up. "Uhm, sir, the Dameun vessel appears to be missing..."

Turning from his main screen to face the science officer, he gave him a tired and quite nearly humorless look. The sagging likes of age had taken their toll on his face, but for a man trying to look serious it did no end of good that his dimples were the singular marking which stood out on him. Pushing a few buttons on his command chair he rotated outside view towards the position they had emerged from Quantum Drive. Surely enough Nebula passed by the view, where the Dameun FAS had been previously between them there was now nothing at all, no sign of the Church's vessel.

"Did it not join us through the vortex?" He inquired curiously, slightly miffed at the idea their support would be shown and taken away so quickly.

"Yes sir. It passed through just moments after we did sir, no readings on what happened after though... Incoming transmission from the Nebula, voice only."

The masculine voice of a somewhat worried communications officer filled the bridge with a few moments of breathing before taking action. "Our Captain thought you should hear this as well sir, a transmission straight from ThonBoka itself, seems they know were here sir..." Without warning the bridge filled with an incredibly loud and almost violent wailing noise intermixed with what could have been static. Lasting nearly thirty seconds before being cut off the comm officer of the Nebula cut in again as Mist's bridge crew tried to regain their sense of hearing. "My appologies sir, thats what we received, but it seems that its a direct computer to computer transmission... yes, nearly blew my eardrums out too when I heard it.." He seemed to say to no one in particular, certainly no one aboard the Mist, "...transmitting decoded message to your main screen now."

The main screen instantly changed from the view of darkened space just behind them to a view from inside ThonBoka. The hulking form of an Oswaft of indeterminable size filled a greater portion of the screen, surrounded by the moving masses of the nebula itself with a backdrop of three solar masses. More curious than all of this was what appeared to be the form of a massive Daemun Priest standing to equivalent scale to the Oswaft in the picture. The two floating in space, side by side as if they were standing on some ocean floor, a diver and some sort of ray examining a similar object.

Leaning over her station, Layla whispered lowly so as to not interrupt the captains concentration as he watched the message begin. "I believe he's merely a super imposed image on the transmission captain, not actually there." He seemed to shrug her off or at the very least not acknowledge what she had told him. Frowning slightly, thinking this to be of some importance, she flopped back down into her seat and watched with the same interest as everyone else.

"...while we did not appreciate the seeding of our food source by your machines, we find this new form of communication most... helpful. This intelligence net is much easier on the sense's than previous attempts of communications with ship dwellers. Having communicated with the one known as Aquilis on behalf of your people we have accepted peaceful co-existence with the Imperium. We are allowing the placement of one of your artificial structures at the exit of our home in hopes of further contact..."

Whispering lightly into her comm desk, low enough not to be heard by the rest of the bridge crew but so that the officer aboard the other ship could still hear, she activated her microphone once again. She could hear his breathing, always annoying but for now she was too concerned with this development to be bothered by such a small occurrence.

"Is this okay? Did we seed something? You think the Dameun's might have done something to them... I mean, where did they go?"

"You know, you really should not be trying to dictate what the Church can do, I hear they don't take kindly to that..." he qouted, mildly irritated and cut the connection. Placing his arms behind his head, slightly cradling himself as he leaned back to watch the main screen, he smiled self satisfactorily. Easiest mission yet, he thought, can't wait to get home or maybe a vacation... maybe a tropical world...
