Rise of a Republic - Koros Major

Koros Major - The Empress Teta System.
-----------------------

The Jedi Star had been upon the planet Koros Major for more than a month now in talks to create a republic, with the planet as it's seat. The leaders of the planet's government were hesitant, to say the least, but were certainly beginning to come around. These had been most productive sessions.

Tivit Grando had spoken on the behalf of the Jedi Master since he first arrived. The people respected this leader of the senate, and were coming to realize the truth behind it all. A free and glorious republic.

---------

The Senate Chambers

"... we understand what you are saying, Senator Grando, but we still have reservations about it all."

"Yes, and we fully appreciate that. However, this union will be more benificial to us than it is to the esteemed Jedi Master. His fleet can protect us from the growing threat of invasion. He can serve as our emmisary and guardian. A champion of our people. Once more, under his guidance, we can return order to the Tetan System and place it again under a single government."

The chambers fell silent a moment, accept the small side converstions that often littered the room. These were a proud and noble people, a people of honor. A people who would trust fully, once that trust was given. Nathaniel Somir had nothing but the utmost of respect for that.

"If we allow this to happen our world will become something larger and grander than what it is now. We will once more become a united system, and perhaps, a more united galaxy."

The Senate Chair stood, then motioned towards Tivit.

"We will take this under advisement and respond within ten standard hours. Until then, this council is conviened."

Fearghail, the leader of the major clans of the Tetan system, had yet another meeting with yet another clan leader. The only thing that the clans of this region had not bothered to translate into basic, were the curses. So far this meeting had had quite a bit of their native tongue in it.

----

"Go lagaí galar tógálach do chroí"

"Téigh trasna ort féin"

"Go mbeire an diabhal leis thú"

"Múchadh is bá ort"

"Loscadh is dó ort"

"Póg mo thóin"

"Go hIfreann leat! Go n-ithe an cat thú, is go n-ithe an diabhal an cat. Go mbeadh cosa gloine fút agus go mbrise an ghloine."

The other man stood and walked away, his own men following him.

King Fearghail spoke once again, now in basic.

"I guess he didn't like that. Looks like we will not be recieving his support."

Fearghail had known this would be the outcome from the start. However, he had still offered to meet with the man, give him at least one more chance to change his mind and save his people's lives.

----

The battles of these clans and cheiftains took place in the ancient ways. No modern weapons, only the ancient hand weapons of their forefathers. They were enemies, but still contrymen. Now another blood battle brewed on the back burner. Another in a long line, as of late. The lands and worlds must come together and unite, but it seemed that many different people had different ideas about how to do so.

The yellow and green of Conmacne flew high on the battlefield of Longphort Ui' Fearghail. The Lords of Annaly drew now weapons agains the hordes of McCanillan. The weapons of ancient times bore once more new light to the ancient battlefield. Swords, axes, spears, bows, and other hand weapons held firm against the passage of time in these forgotten lands of the universe. In few places now, to few in my estimation, were the old customs respected. Here, however, on at the foot of Longphort Ui' Fearghail such was the way of things.

Red and black banners rose over the hillside as the armies of McCanillan bore down upon the battlefield which had settled so many grudges over the centuries. Today another would be settled upon these grounds. With the blood of their enemies, and their own men, they would buy the price of peace. They would buy the freedom of another land.

The colors of each clan and cheiftain were flown with pride and honor as the two great men and clans entered into the frey of battle. Fearghail rode out first, to attempt to sway McCanillan from this bloody contest. The other rode out to meet him.

"McCanillan, we can still end this. Join with us for a free and united land and this can still be stopped before further bloodshed takes place."

"You know we must ride, Fearghail. We must hold the honor of our clan."

"Then may death take you swiftly and without pain, McCanillan."

"As it should you in your time, Fearghail."

Each cheiftain rode once more back to their respective camps. Fearghail shook his head thinking about the needless blood which would now spill upon these, already blood drenched, fields.

"Captains, raise your colors. We face down our glory and honor this day. Be ready."

A great crash echoed throughout the lands of Longphort Ui' Fearghail as the two armies met upon the battlefield. Ancient weapons bore down upon one another in a bloody display of honor and will. The two armies clashed in a paradox of wisedom which would not release them.

----

"TO OUR DEATHS OF HONOR MEN!"

The call went out as King Fearghail rode with his men into battle. Weapons clashed, an almost deafening noise. In the King's right hand was a twelve bladed mace, each blade sharpened to a razor point. A deadly weapon which was responsible for the deaths of many of his enemies. More would be added to that list this day, even through his regret.

His men clashed around him, even as he himself faced down his foes. The massive head of his mace bore down upon a warrior before him, the head of the man caving and exploding like some over-ripe fruit. Spinning deftly, the weapon was pulled free and burried into the gut of another man seeking to take advantage of the situation. Even as this was taking place, yet another man was attempting to run the King through. Swiftly grabbing the sword of the man he had impaled with his mace, he spun it to bury into the neck of the other who was hurriedly approaching.

The battle raged with a ferousity unmatched by almost any warriors in the galaxy. Each fought for a cause, each's cause right in their own minds.

Slowly the numbers twindled until finally it was all but over.

Fearghail rushed in, his eyes widened with a seeming madness. His battle cry echoed through the lands as his weapon bore down on a readied McCanillan. The other blocked with his own weapon and parried to the side. Fearghail spun, and with a violent scream, his weapon's twelve bladed head was burried in the gut of the other man.

McCanillan grabbed the weapon, weakly, pulling itself from him. His eyes wide with shock, he fell to his knees holding the wound. Reaching out, he took Fearghail's hand.

"... I..... had to preserve.. my.. honor. Take...... ca...re... of... the....m."

Feargail nodded and held the man's hand as he died upon the field. He kneeled down, setting the man upon his back and crossing his arms over his chest. He wanted him to enter the afterlife proper.

Fearghail turned to his people.

"The clan McCanillan is now of the clan Fearghail. As such every warrior who met his maker here today will be treated as a member of our own clan, and burried proper."

He looked down to McCanillan's body.

".. I shall see you to the after life, my old friend."

Kneeling down once more, he scooped McCanillan into his arms. Carrying his, still bleeding, body he walked the ten kilometers to his family burial grounds. Setting the other man down upon the alter, he took in his hand a shovel, and began to dig.

To many had he burried now.

To many....

Longphort Ui' Fearghail
(Loosely Translated: Fortress of Fearghail)
-----------------------

The massive structure of Longphort Ui' Fearghail loomed over the lands of Conmance. Deep within a meeting of the High Council of Conmance, including the Lords of Annaly, was taking place.

----

Fearghail looked upon the council as he spoke. "As many of you know, there are still a few clans which stand against us. This is unfortunate, for each have been instructed that our goal is not to conquer the nations and clans but to unite them. Many of you, yourselves, were once told the same. However, these remaining clans do not seem to agree that this is in their best interest. They, instead, believe that they should rule these seven planets."

One of the Lords of Annaly spoke up. "We could easily conquer these clans..." Fearghail interupted. "We are not here to conquer. If that is your possition, you may leave now." The man responded, quickly backstepping. "No, I only meant to suggest we could, not that we should. Regardless, these clans are no threat to us or our people."

Fearghail nodded, solemnly. "True, they are not a threat. However, they stand in the way of unity. Unfortunately we must now stand firmly against them. This is not now, nor has it ever been, my wish for these lands. We must take a stand for what is right and true for the lands, nations, and worlds of this system. No matter the cost."

The council all echoed their agreement with the King's words. The very thought of fighting their countrymen turned most of their stomachs. There were those, however, who wanted any excuse for battle. Those that would soon be weeded out of the council.. perminately.

When the senate returned to chambers and summoned Nathaniel, he was suprised to see a new senate leader sitting upon the center seat. The man instantly addressed him.

"I am Fearghail of Clan Fearghail. I have consolidated the clans and we are now ready to rule upon the matter at hand. After taking the liberty of looking into your past we have decided to agree to your offer. We will not only aid you but follow you into battle."

Nathaniel bowed to the man.

"I am most pleased to hear this. We shall begin immediately, if you wish. To start, my fleet will protect this system when needed. Also, we will have planetary defenses transfered to Koros Major itself to protect the capital. If this pleases the senate."

"Anyone taking an interest in bettering the lives of our people pleases us a great deal, Jedi Star."

"Very well, it shall be done."

Nathaniel bowed once more, then turned.. exiting the chamber. He got an odd feeling from this new man, but a good one. Something about him.. spoke to Nathaniel. Something inside the man's heart.

None the less, Nathaniel did as he promised. Transfering the appropriate military equipment to the planet and system. He also had another mission to undertake. One that would hopefully bring a more secure rest of ease to the system. Though it would likely upset the order in which he served. He may even be expelled from the order itself. However, he knew his job now. He was now a leader, not a Jedi. He would always be a Jedi, of course, but now his concerns must rest with the Republic, and not with the order. His student no longer needed him anyway, he was ready. Now, it was time for Nathaniel to play himself more into a role which fit him. That of leader and freedom fighter.

A few of his former friends had followed with him, though some had returned to their former posts. Skywalker was with him, this pleased the Jedi Master. The boy needed someone to watch over him. Slavatio had returned to the order, which was his place. All must eventually return to where they belong.
