(This thread picks up from the TTR ambush thread, and happens on the same timeline.)

Hyperspace was always an interesting experience. The immense pull as you entered, and the opposite forces as you exited gave most people chills of excitement.

It was no different today. The two Jedi aboard the Clak’dor swayed with the slight lurching, yet stood solid as their ship exited space. Their escort soon followed them, popping into existence in a circle around their command ship.

“Captain, begin full system scans, and see if you can turn that blasted red light off, ok?”

The officer nodded at the Jedi’s request. With a proper turn about, he began to bark the standard orders – most of which had already been begun by the more experienced crewmembers.

The taller Jedi glanced out one of the aft windows, and peered at two totally black holes in space. A star slid by, and appeared to be swallowed by one of the black holes. A few seconds later, it appeared again, on the opposite point from which it had entered. His right eyebrow twitched slightly, and the Jedi turned to address the captain again.

“Effective cloak their Captain. Almost … too effective. I was not aware that the Monarchy had developed a cloaking system that effective.”

The captain’s lips twitched slightly, and he ceased speaking to his XO long enough to step over and comment.

“Not a cloak sir, just a covering of light-absorbing paint. Sensors can still detect us, but the naked eye or film cannot. If it relies upon light for targeting, they’re out of luck.”

He smiled, glanced out the window again, then turned and continued speaking to his men.

Both the Jedi’s eyebrows raised in a slight gesture of admiration before he rejoined his companion in the center of the bridge. “Not a bad idea” he commented. “It will surely throw fighters for a loop. It will also most certainly help with avoiding unwanted publicity.”

The other Jedi nodded, and both continued their silent vigil. Five minutes passed in a moment, and the Captain walked up with a determined look on his face.

“Sir,” He said before clearing his throat. “Our initial close range scanners indicated nothing sir, but as we expanded we began to get readings of debris. As of right now, we have detected a few hundred living beings, several derelict hulls, and much in the way of slag.

It appears the battle is over, and the victors have left the enemy survivors to die.”

The two Jedi looked at each other, the shorter one nodding his head as in confirmation. The taller one turned, and replied. “Bring your ships in closer, let us bring aid to those who need it. Send a message back to the Monarchy, we need all the help we can get with a few hundred survivors. Inform them that it appears Tholatin’s enemy has triumphed.”

The captain nodded, but his eyes were quizzical. “The enemy has triumphed?”

The shorter Jedi spoke up, raising his head to gaze into the Captain’s eyes. “Yes Captain, the enemy has triumphed. Tholatin would not leave people to die, even if they were the enemy.”

“A little over 600 survivors Sir; 237 injured, with 22 expiring in transit to the medical ship, and 17 dying in the medical ship. We have completed the sensor scans of the area, and have come to the conclusion that there are no living beings outside of our ships.”

The young officer finished his brief, saluted, and was excused. He exited with a crisp walk, the sign a fresh military school grad – or an experienced officer. Silence lay undisturbed for a few moments in his wake, the two Jedi and the captain of the Clak’Dor contemplating.

After a moment, the Captain turned and looked at his Jedi companions. They in turn returned his gaze, before speaking.

“He is correct Captain,” said the taller one. “We have retrieved the last of the survivors. There is nothing more we could do here, except perhaps salvage scrap. It is your call whether we stay or head back home. We can do nothing here.”

“Back to Clak’Dor Sir Jedi?” The captain asked with a quizzical expression on his face.

“Yes. We retrieved one intact datacore from a hulled Carrack – we should be able to retrieve sufficient data from that and the survivors to piece together what happened here.”

“Back to Clak’Dor we go then.” He cleared his throat, and continued. “I received a private transmission from the Monarch, he is considering taking a few … covert … actions, and he would like to speak to all of us once the data from here has been analyzed.”

“I see” Replied the shorter Jedi. “Then plot our course Captain, we will begin questioning.
