Over the world of Aridus

The information had been recieved that the pirate nest was operation out of the world of Aridus. The world had been bought and forced brutually into submission, and for the time being, was operating an impressive pirate nest of some thirty six warships, half capital, half picket sized, but a rag tag fleet, a wide assortement of vessels. An Imperial tracking device planted by a agent on one of the personnel before that agent's unfortunate death had lead the Empire to the location of the pirate's hideout, and a taskforce was assembled. It consisted of an Imperial Venator-class troopship with one division of stormtroopers, an Reign class Star Destroyer, and three Imperial carrack cruisers. The pirate fleet immediatly sortied, confident of victory. To soften up the Imperials, they sent ahead their starfighters, an impressive three hundred ships all told, raning from TIE Fighters to Imperial Assault Shuttles, all vessels supposed to have been scrapped due to age, battle damage, etc. In reponse the Imperials launched four dozen starfighters, and they proceeded to a halfway point between the two formations, circled around several times, and then came back to the ships. The pirates were confused until their starfighters reached the point where the Imperial starfighters had been. Their starfighters ran into a mine field, explosions tearing apart their own starfighters and shuttles. The remaining ships retreated back to the pirate's hideout.

Now it was time for the capital ship engagement. The Hawk class bombers were reloaded and sent out again. In the engagement, the starfighters would run at capital ships, and then pull up, and seconds later, tens of small explosions would rock the targeted vessel. Other bombers were sent down to support the ground troops, and this they did. The starfighters dropped their mines with delayed triggers into the soil in and around the armour bases of the pirates. When their tanks and walkers started up and began proceeding out of the bases to meet the Imperial army, many of the exploded before they made it beyond the bases's perimeter. Finally, the forces that did make it out were again slaughtered by the Hawk class bombers, dropping mines with zero delayed timers that exploded upon contact with the earth, creating a series of craters containing the remains of the pirates army. The Hawk assault bomber had proved it's worth on it's very first deployment.
