OOC:Might I point out that you never asked for a break. And that one time didn't hurt you at all. Also I'm not Griff. I'm not an ass to everybody in TNO just because Drayson and you are asses.

Ranger Gunship-RG-001

"Sir the shipyards are dead ahead."

The report came from his CSO(Chief Sensor Officer) and Senior Adjundant Lieutenant Xavier. Captain Horsa Dangist turned to look at him.

"Good status on those frigates?"

"They're falling out of range. Only one of them can currently fire on us."

"Good. Scan the shipyard. Is there enough room for us to enter?"

"Yes sir, barely sir."

"Is there enough room for those frigates?"

Xavier smiled.

"Not if they want to keep their superstructure sir."

"Good. Order our ships to enter the shipyards. When they're inside they are to block off the exits with debris that they’ve fixed in place with tractor beams. Then when they are totally secure they are to begin firing from the inside of the shipyard until the reactor is exposed. They are to destroy it in a way that facilitates their escape. From know on we will be out of contact with forces outside the shipyards.”

“Yes sir.”

The gunships split up with 2 gunships for the first three shipyards and 3 for the 4th. Dangist began to feel slightly claustrophobic as the pilot of his gunship carefully manoeuvred his ship in between the under construction ship and the shipyard wall.

“Passing the halfway mark. We’re in range of the exit.”

“Open fire on the shipyard. Use the fore tractor beams to create a solid barrier. I don’t want any fighters dropping in unexpectedly.”

“Yes sir.”

Quickly and efficiently the gunners onboard Dangist’s ship carved away at the shipyard. Within minutes a nearly complete barrier was formed across the openings of the shipyard. A fighter could enter but they’d be easy pickings for the gunners onboard the Ranger Gunship. They’d be forced to travel through only a few routes.

“Sensors lock onto the strongest power source you can find. Feed the co-ordinates to the helm and out companions. We are to manoeuvre over the reactor. Helm make sure that our fore tractor beam stays locked onto the debris.”

Slowly the Gunship shuddered as it’s pilots carefully manoeuvred it into position.

“We have approximately 5 km of shipyard between us and the reactor.”

Dangist nodded.

“Open Fire!”

The guns on the gunship opened fire quickly joined by its partner’s fire. The same scene repeated itself in all the other shipyards.

Surviving ISD

“Sir the gunships have entered the shipyards.”

“Good. Prepare for hyperspace. Concentrate all remaining fire on that wounded Victory.”

“Yes sir.”

Corona-Class Frigate CF-BC2
Dantooine

“What the hell is that?” Sven Carriel, younger brother of Malkar, asked glancing out the viewport, then at the sensor readings, then out the viewport again. The enemy vessels had, for several moments, been inside the shipyards. While they’d thoroughly outstripped the Imperial vessels, once they had stopped moving, it had been rather simplistic to catch up. Before him now, though, was a puzzle; a large, unseemly hulk of twisted metal, haphazardly slapped together and now obstructing their view (and path) into the shipyard.

“It appears to be some sort of… wall, sir,” a young lieutenant answered. “Quickly thrown up, apparently. Stuck together with… almost nothing. Obstructing about one fourth of the entrance.”

Sven looked around, wondering if anyone else aboard the bridge found this as idiotic as he did. From the incredulous looks around him, he guessed that they did, indeed. The Corona-class Frigate continued to approach the shipyard’s entrance. “Well, fire on it. Order the other Coronas to do the same, and divide up the Defenders evenly into four groups. One Corona for each of the first three shipyards, and two for the last.”

The turbolaser fire blasted apart the shoddy, imbecilic obstacle in mere seconds, its rushed construction almost instantly giving way. Fighters swarmed in, well out of range, and used the various parts of the under construction ship for cover as they approached their prey. “Was that actually supposed to be an obstacle?” Sven asked, as the Corona moved into the shipyard, moving past the under-construction vessel. The enemy ships were several kilometers down, blasting away at one dent in the shipyard floor.

“I believe the enemy anticipated our vessels not being able to enter, sir, because of our size” the lieutenant replied.

“A forty kilometer shipyard, and they don’t think narrow craft like ours can fly into our own shipyards?”

The young man shrugged. “I don’t pretend to understand the alien mind, sir.”

“Nor do I,” Sven replied. “Ah, they seem to be coming into range. What are they doing? Digging?”

“It would seem so.”

“Well, open fire. Order all fighters to attack, and relay those orders to the vessels in all other shipyards.”

And they did.

“Are they digging?” Malkar Carriel asked, as the tactical display shifted to a holographic image of the events within the shipyard. “What in hell do they hope to accomplish?”

“Their co-ordinates seem to relate to the location of the shipyard reactor,” one of his aides replied. “Albeit, five kilometers down.”

Malkar glanced around, shaking his head. “Five kilometers? That could take them hours, with their weak weaponry.”

“The alien mind is difficult to comprehend, sir,” the same aide commented. “Its logic twisted.”

“Yes, indeed. Well, either way, temporarily shut down the reactor. If they somehow make it down there, they’ll be shooting at a useless piece of steel. I will contact Commodore Gevel, if you will excuse me.”

Reign-class Star Destroyer
Dantooine

With startling abruptness, all fire once lacing the massive Star Destroyer simply seemed to stop. Captain Donoath seemed almost startled. “What’s going on?” He asked.

“They’re concentrating fire on the damaged Victory, sir,” one communications officer said, but was quickly cut off by another.

“Orders have come in from Commodore Gevel and Captain Malkar, sir! We are to begin to flank that craft, and broadside them.”

Donoath nodded. “We’ll do as we’re told. Relay the orders, and order the wounded Victory to bring itself closer to the Sovereignty ImpStar. Bring us up alongside that ship, and continue firing.”

Ranger Gunship RG-001

"Sir we've managed to break through the hull of the shipyard."

"Excellent. Evacuate the ship."

"Pardon me?"

"The plan calls for the destruction of these shipyards. The only way they're going to blow is if we self-destruct. The other gunships should be evacuating as well. It is know your duty to see the men to safety. I will finish up here."

"Yes sir."

The Corona Frigates and TIE Defenders approached the gunship and their doom.

RG-001 and the rest of it's compatriates self-destructed brilliantly. Seconds later the last remaining Sovereignty ship in-system jumped to hyperspace.

OOC:D amages:
Corona Frigates:5 dead
Shipyards:3 Destroyed with 1 Extremely heavily damaged(inoperable)

OOC: You may not realize this, Marth, but self-destruction is actually NOT allowed. I may have permitted you to do it earlier – since you coupled the self-destruction with somewhat plausible damage results, and I was feeling nice – but it’s really allowed. But, I think I’ll let you do it this time, as well.

Dantooine

“They seem to be self-destructing, sir, and the Imperial Star Destroyer has left the system,” an officer said. “Negligible damage to the shipyards. The reactors will need some patching, but they’re in fairly good shape. The explosions were too small to do any real damage.”

Malkar Carriel raised an eyebrow. “Why would they continue self-destructing when they saw it was ineffectual?” He asked.

The men in the command room were silent, until one young officer spoke up. “When ships self-destruct, it releases a great deal of energy, sir. It can cloud sensors… they probably thought it was working.”

Malkar snorted. “Aliens. Total losses?”

“Twenty-five starfighters, sir. Some exterior damage to the Corona Frigates. Other than that, nothing.”
