Operation: Round Two (Adumar, TTR)

The fleet of Farfalen was without its glorius commander Zen. Commodore Jzoks feared that he might have been killed in the combat, especially since Zen's commandship of the same name, was destroyed. The Outer-Rim Sovereignty had paid for that act. The next big target on their list of people to destroy were the Tholatins. They had jumped into the combat and killed thousands of sailors. Now, they would get theirs.

The tattered and battle hardened fleet sat less than a parsec away from their target. Well out of sensor range. At the moment, crews in Zero-G suits were making repairs, using spare materials, or if the situation warrented it, removing patches of slick-armor and using it as new armor. The crews worked hard, after getting a gracious rest in hyperspace. Missile octets were now fully reloaded, the injured were taken care off. All that was left was to quench the incurable thirst for vengance.

-----------------------

Aboard the Bridge of his command cruiser, Commodore Jzok ordered that the remaining six Devestator Mark III missiles be brought online. The Captains of the various Shotos confirmed. On each of the ships carrying one of the devestatingly powerful missiles, the twin-eight character codes were read off, while a third was punching in the numbers or letters. Payback was moments away.

The Captains were all aboard the Command Cruiser, the Shoto, inside a conferance room. They were all studying a three-dimensional picture of the planet Adumar. There were five red dots on the surface. Each was represnting a target. Two, were cities that contained millions of peopl and shield generators. They would be the first to feel the pain. The next one, was perhaps the most dangerous target: a major proton torpedo factory. The last two were implicated to be heavy turbolasers, but the spies who reported that were not of the highest quality.

"Now, what we will do is jump, to this point;" Jzok's pointed to a spot on a two-dimension map of the system, "There, the Shotos which launch their fish, while the Cutters will stave off just outside of the gravity shadow, to provide cover with their extended turbolasers from any fleet. Remember, keep your shields up, with all extra power to them or engines. Dismissed."

-----------------------

The Captains had returned to their respective ships, some of the Captains, those who didn't have a Devestator to fire, were to target-acquire after the jump. Those that did, had their orders and were preparing for the jump.

"Jump in five... four..." the pilot was talking as the loudspeaker countdown informed the crew, "three... two... one." The two and a half dozen ships turned to light as they shot to the planet. First to reappear were the Shotos and when they did, shields went up to full, and five missiles came streaking out of the bays. The attack had come from literally nowhere, right onto the naked side of the planet. Seconds later, from four other Shoto cruisers a furry of missiles and turbolasers came streaking down the planet, primarily aimed at shield generators. All of this, in ten seconds.

Ten Minutes before Enemy Fleet Arrival

"Our new Gencore has been installed, am I correct?"

"You are, sir."

"Have we tested it?"

"No, sir."

"Run a test on the system. Bring the whole planetary shield online. I want to make sure it works."

"Yes, sir. It'll taketen minutes to get it fully operational."

"Good."

Admiral Karnik looked out the viewport at the planet below him. A rather large fleet was assigned to Adumar, supplemented by the transfers that were taking place. Some new ships had arrive and some of the others were to be heading off for new destinations. But they wouldn't be leaving until the next day. Lucky for them.

Time of Arrival

"Warfleet exiting hyperspace and firing missiles!"

Karnik was jolted from his reverie to look outside at the rather large starfleet in front of him. It was almost a match for his own but not quite. He blinked at the signals of missiles incoming.

"Shields up! Weapons online!"

"Done!"

"Planetary Gencore I is up for testing! Reports stable!"

"Tell it to remain online. All tractor beams target those larger missiles. Try and snag them so that they can be destroyed. Move the Gunships forward to form a line. Fire at maximum range."

The tractor beams tried to catch some of the missiles but didn't and they made it through to slam into the planetary shields. Karnik winced at the blue ripples they caused and then at the reign of incoming fire, some of which hit their own shields.

"Planetary shield is holding but is growing weak in sector 42."

"Get the Gencore II up and running. Have the planetary weapons warm up. Launch all fighters and droids. All ships are authorized to fire."

"Yes, sir. Mines are still active and homing in on enemy fleet."

"Sir, ships identified as belonging to Farfalen."

"Farfalen will regret attacking us today. Send out a message to anyone willing to listen that we may require assistance."

"Yes, sir."

The Farfalen had realized their was an enemy fleet, just after they launched their missiles. The Admiral had ordered an immeadiate change of course, of the six missiles, two were grabbed by the tractor beams, this of course was like a protocol droid trying to stop a charging Bantha with one arm, it slowed them down enough save them completely. The other four, detected the shield and were able to pull up, scrapping their bottoms on the shield, which limited. A shower of sparks was formed however, when the shields of the missiles and the energy shield collided.

The course changes had been logged. One missile went towards the MC-90, it veered minimal laser fire, the MC-90's were primarily based on the turbolaser, not enough flak to prevent missiles, at least shielded missiles. The missile collided on the broadside of the Mon Calamari based craft and a nice explosion followed.

The next missile, headed right towards the Imperial Star Destroyer, another ship not designed to deal with small objects. This missile, was damaged from the hitting the shield and was in a constant corkscrew, for its advantage. The inept gunners couldn't get a precise lock on it, only grazing its sides. The missile ended its retarded run, slamming into the ship and another nice explosion followed.

One of the two that had been slowed down from the tractor beam, had been right there, and slamming into the Republic destroyer that had tried to slow it down. The missile exploded, along with the destroyer making yet another pretty explosion. The other of the slowed missiles, slammed into the sister ship of the Republic Destroyer, sending this one to hell as well.

One of the remaining two sputtered. Its engines had been welded over two much by the collision with the energy, floated helplessly through space. The final one, locked in on the lines of Corellian Gunships. Targetting the most centralized one. It hit. The explosion stretched a whole line, the damage unimaginable.

"This is not a drill! Lock-down immeadietly! Perpare all military vessels to launch!"

The Coalition Cometh.

The planet Haven was close to Adumar, and the sudden frantic communications from Adumar worried the people greatly. The New Order were denying involvment, so it had to be something.

Taking action, the highest ranking military official handy, Four-star admiral Clark Wesley, and Azguard and frequent-flyer, prepared the large fleet around Haven to leap into battle. His orders were simple for those still at home: Lock up, keep a gass-mask handy, don't go outside, and for frack's sake LOOK OUT.

There was a small flottilla assembling above the skies of Haven, and standing at the bridge of the command ship, an Imperial Class by the name of Water-lilly, Wesley prepares to launch the best-planned, most cunning, and stratiegically perfect assault in Coalition history-

"Who's in command here?"

Oh gods, not him, anyone but him.

"General Bush! How nice to see you sir!"

"Enough of that private!"

"Um sir? I'm a general too, sir. One star under you, sir."

"Yes, well, we're not all perfect. Prepare the fleet for attack! We'll show those Tholotians a thing or two!"

"Um, sir? We're the Tholotians' allies."

"Whatever, just get the fleet together and prepare for jump."

"The Singular's been obliterated!"

"So have the Serenity, Talover, and Talovert!"

"Damn those Forfalen bastards to hell."

Karnik glared out the window at the explosions racing across his line of gunships, not to mention the ones slamming the four larger vessels. They were blasted nuclear missiles. Karnik knew someday that Farfalen would regret their decision to nuke his ships. Some day he would blast them so bad they would regret it.

"Plan Beta. Commence now."

"Yes, sir."

Every remining ship of the Tholatin forces began to jet away from the planet in a perpendicular line to the Farfalen ships route. Four micro-jumps had been precalculated for just such an incident and they would use them once they were far enough out of the planets mass shadow. All the while they kept firing. Their missiles slamming into the enemies shields. Their lasers blasting away at them from maximum range.

But the Farfalen forces made a fatal mistake. THey had jumped right into Adumars minefield and were even now getting hammered by the mines. A few Cutters when up in brilliant explosions as mines hammered into them from all sides. THey couldn't evade the mines and the missiles coming at them.

The fleet had been in a very loose orbit and most of the ships were already on the edge of the planets mass shadow after two minutes of dead speed away. Once they cleared, the fleet did a micro-jump of ten seconds then popped back out a ways away. The enemy fleet was all pinpricks now and the fleet slowed down.

"When were the Neron's scheduled to come through on their tour?"

"Right now."

"Well, they aren't here. Hypercomm them and tell them to come out of hyperspace well away from the planet. We're under attack."

"Yes, sir."

4 Cutters destroyed

The remaining cutters, veering around for not even ten seconds pulled out via five-axis jumps. The Shotos had been able to gun their way out. With the Adumar fleet on the retreat, their own retreat was safe. Orders were to move to the far side of the closest moon, where shelter could be seaked.

"What's taking so long?"

"We can't jump yet, sir, we need to wait for the rest of the fleet. They're nearly all assembled, sir."

"Damn. Tell them to hurry up, slackers."

The Shotos in full swing returned fire, the missiles were picked off easily by over four-hundred wyvern cannons aimed right for them. Over two hundred bolts of energy from each of the Shotos lanced out across the space, each hitting its deadly target. The Cutter class cruisers, returned fire as well, to the smaller ships, their high-powered weapons at close ranged indeed turned the battlefield. The Tholatin's in their haste forgot to turn on their shields, and now it would cost them dearly.

The Torpedo Octets of the mighty Shotos bellowed in the nova-star pattern. Four of the missiles aimed at the interior, then the next four in a larger circle, to do more damage.

Admiral Jzok's aboard his command ship began bellowing orders, "Bring up the secondary shields, reroute power from decks nine through fifteen," He knew those were crew quarters and storage bays, "Put all available energy into shields, damnit."

Similarly on the rest of the fleet, Captains and Captain Lieutenants or Commanders made like-adjustments in their ships to boost power to shields.

"We have them on the run!" Cried out Jzok. The remaining few ships a few Star destroyers and newly arrived reinforcements were fleeing before the Farfalen fleet. The ships fired shots after them, but none to a sucsessful hit. Another victory for the navies of Farfalen and a loss for their enemies. "For the next order of business, I want these ships repaired. Let Adumar keep its shields up, we shall lay seige."
