Aboard the Battleship Superior.......

Admiral Markev stood on board the proudest creation of the Mid-Rim Protectorate, it's largest Battleship yet. The Imperial ship stood in at a nice seven thousand five hundred meters, and was currently serving as it's intended role, a frontline command ship for the upcoming operation. Although he was senior in rank to the Vice Admiral that commanded the Mid-Rim, in every other way Markev was his subordinate, and in an instant, the rank part of it could vanish as well. He had recently transferred from the dissolved Bastion Conclave into the Mid-Rim Protectorate, having served as the commander of defense forces for the world of Courlag. He had originally been stationed on his fleet defense flagship, the Imperator Star Destroyer Vigilant. He had been promoted and transferred, to serve in his current capacity.

He understood his mission very well. This was a show of power. If he thought he could defeat the enemy forces that would surely confront him, as they had a month earlier with another taskforce, then by all means he was to commence a takeover of the world, in order to add it to the Empire, and bring it's intelligent species once again under the thick sticked rule of the Empire, although he sought to only add them as yet another valuable resource, not to be squandred or recklessley, even encouraginly disposed of in Palpatine's empire. Admiral Markev turned his thoughts away from the brieifing he had been given, and found his eyes wandering over to the other vessles in his fleet. The vessels of the fast cruiser attack squadrons, and of the heavy assault squadrons, and their own complements of smaller vessels. Then the fleet dropped out of hyperspace. Then they were in the system. Ok, time to dominate, Admiral Markev thought to himself.

"Activate shields, and weapons batteries. Load missile tubes. Find me the enemy targets, so we can get on with this buisness. Sensors, range to planet?" asked Admiral Markev.

"Range, off the normal charts, but well out of their planetery cannons range." replied sensors.

"Very well then, informed our special guest that she, or he can have the first go at whatever enemy makes it's presence known." replied Markev.

Falleen
Underground Compound

"Your highness.... the Imperial force is to strong. Resistance would be futile... and waste precious veterens and vessels."

Prince Gorma, head of Black Sun, curled his lip in disgust. His organization, the organization that like so many times before had died and risen from the ashes of its former self, was powerful- but not on like many of the previous reincarnations of itself. Black Sun could command influence in some corners of the galaxy, but the name Gorma was not feared as the name Xizor had been.

That in itself had been one of the underlying reasons that Black Sun had allied itself with the powerful Jutraalian Syndicate, and become a founding member of the "Union." Estro Sabrino had outmanuevered Gorma, true, but the partnership had proven to be beneficial to Gorma, despite his subordinate status. With increased resources, contacts and money, he could wield the power and influence he had been unable to gain for himself. But as he was now seeing, his power still remained limited.

"Please... your highness we must give the order.... to..."

The Imperial fleet that had entered Falleen's airspace was much larger and more powerful than the one which had attacked several months ago. The assualt was unprovoked, and infuriated the Prince, especially when information becam available that an Imperial moff, Vice Admiral Kracken, was ordering the attack with no other paticular reason than to expand his Imperial holdings. The power Kracken had, and his ability to expand that power had made Gorma envious and angry. He had been assuaged when his defensive force had repulsed the Empire..... but now as Kracken's power increased his stayed stable.

Gorma looked at his military advisor, who was struggling to vocalize in a way that a member of his proud species never should. If nothing else, those who knew what he stood for respected Gorma's power. The thought allowed him to calm the rising tide of anger and address his advisor.

"Do it. Order the fleet to rendez-vous outside of the system, and then scatter. We'll assemble them with a signal through the network."

The advisor looked visibly relieved.

"Evacuate key personale- we'll convene the Vigo council at the Green Luck Casino on Jutraal."

Moving from under the guns of the Empire, to a world contolled by them.

The irony was not lost on Gorma. Black Sun would survive- and rebound quickly with the Unions assitance. However losing direct control of Falleen pained Gorma. He would leave behind extensive contacts on the world, as well as many supporters and sympathizers. The thought consoled him slightly. While the world would submit to the Empire, the Imperials would never be able to win over the Falleen people totally- and his influence would remain.

"Your personal shuttle will be ready in 5 minutes."

Gorma nodded and waved his hand, dismissing the advisor. He wanted his last five minutes as the sole ruler of Falleen to be his own.

In orbit over the world of Falleen...

"Sir, long range scanners detect a large flotilla of ships just outside the system. They are currently scattering and are outbound." reported sensors.

"They appear to be trying to flee the system. If their fleet has moved away, then their non-combat personnel cannot be far behind. Quickly, order the fast attack cruisers to blockade the planet. We cannot have any valuable enemy personnel fleeing the system." ordered the Commodore.

Twenty of the Illustrious cruisers detached themselves from the fleet and moved to various corners and sides of the world. A wide variety of craft were indeed being seen leaving the world. TIE Defenders were immediatly dispatched from the heavy cruisers to disable them, while the cruisers themselves went after the slower craft. The action lasted for some three hours, and in the end, one enemy shuttle and five smaller craft had escaped into hyperspace, leaving behind some twenty other shuttles and small craft to be captured by the Empire. Many of them had the Black Sun criminal organization logo on their ships.

"Sir, the cruisers are requesting orders now that the enemy ships have been apprenhended." asked the comms officer.

"Order them to begin interrogation immediatly. I will send over additional agents to help in that regard. As for the planet.....I have my own orders in that regard. Dispatch the 23rd Imperial stormtrooper corps to the surface, and ready the turbolasers of my command ship. I have some delicate negotiations to undertake.

"Sir, I have also intercepted a long range transmission directed from the planet to the fleet outside the system. Decoders are working right now to piece the message together." reported comms.

"Very well then. Have the decoded message sent to the Vice Admiral, along with a report of what has happened here to the minute." ordered the Commodore.

"Yes sir." responded the comms officer.
