"Sir, the diagnostics are complete. The intruders did not infect us with a virus or anything of similar nature."
"Excellent. What is the status of the teams sent to capture the terrorists?"
"Alpha Team is commencing an assualt on the weapons cluster right now. Bravo and Gamma Teams are on the shuttle, and are not reporting any resistance. The Defender Gunship is pulling them in with their tractor beam no-. Wait, we have new arrivals. They are heading straight for the Imperials! Their target seems to be the Vahalla and it's escorts."
"Sound the battle alarm. Are they within weapons range, or coming near us?"
"No."
"Power up shields and weapons to be safe, but hold your position. Who are they?"
"We're not sure. The fleet consists of a Home One Command Cruiser, 3 Imperial Mark II Star Destroyers, 3 Tholatin Star Destroyers, a Defender Star Destroyer, 15 MC-90 Star Cruisers, 2 Assault Frigates, 2 Interdictor Cruisers and 5 Nebulon-B2 Frigates. The Imperial Star Destroyers, 10 of the MC-90 Cruisers, the 2 Assault Frigates and 5 Nebulon-B2 Frigates are broadcasting old, out of date, Galactic Coalition transponders. The others don't have any transponders."
At this point Jan Dondana reached the bridge. He qucikly walked over to the sensor board.
"Hold position here. Open a channel with the fleet attacking the Imperials."
"Sir, they're jamming us."
"Damn."
"Then lets just stay here for the time being."
Jan quickly walked over to an unused station and started pulling up information on various treaties that had been made by the Galactic Coalition, and the Outer-Rim Sovereignty. While any faction could easily produce the majority of the vessels, the Tholatin Star Destroyer had been a specialized design, used only by the Tholatin Republic until their downfall. After that the only 10 Tholatin Star Destroyers in exsistance became the property of ORS, as well as the designs. The designs came into Galactic Coalition hands after the merging of the two factions, but the ships did not. They had already been surrendered to another faction. The Black Dragon Empire, specifically their Farfalen portion. A Home One Cruiser, Defender Star Destroyer and various others ships had been included in that deal. The only faction outside of NGC which had access to old GC transponders was that unknown fleet that had appeared at Dameo, and had helped the Black Dragon Empire against the GC counter-attack. The fleet surrendered to them matched the ships with transponders perfectly, not counting the 24 MC-10s, which could still be in one of the ships' landing bays. That left 5 MC-90s unaccounted for. While the unknown fleet could have produced some MC-90s of their own, or another faction could have produced them, Farfalen had obviously already donated some ships to this fleet, and 12 MC-90s had been surrendered to them by GC at the end of that conflict. It was likely the ther 5 MC-90s were part of that fleet.
"Helm, orient us towards the unknown fleet, and begin moving us forward. Flank speed."
"Yes sir."
"Load all missile launchers. We're going to have to do this the hard way, with no contact with the Imperials. If you are fired on by the Imperials, do not fire back, just get away as fast as possible."
The fleet began to mvoe forward, picking up speed. What Jan was suggesting was very dangerous. The enemy outnumbered the Coalition fleet, and the Imperials could think that the Coalition was behind the attack. It could end up that the Coalition would be stuck in a cross-fire between the two factions. But they had to try it. If they didn't the Imperials might think it was a Coalition assault and then counter-attack. While communications would be posssible in those futures battles, it would be easier to stop the thing right now, right here.
Meanwhile, inside the Defender Gunship with the terrorists onboard, DG-05, the troops had begun their assault. The commander had opened the doors part way, and grenades were quickly thrown in, and the doors were slammed shut, but not before the terrorists managed to get a few shots off, one hitting a the commander in the arm. The medic quickly started tending to the commander, as troops got out their rifles, and set them to stun. The commander hit the keypad, and the troops stormed in. The sounds of blaster bolts were heard, and the smoke was tinted blue at times, from the flashes of stun bolts. The troops quickly finished off the terrorists, stunning them all. Unfortunately the team's youngest member, Scotty, had been hit in the head by a blaster bolt, and died instantly. The team members mourned the death of their comrade as other troops came in and took the terrorists to the brig.
The shuttle had been secured and brought onboard the Defender Gunship via tractor beam. Everything was set for the assault that would soon start, provided the Imperials permitted the Coalition forces to join the fight...
