OOC Note: This thread was inspired by my writing in Homecoming. It is going to be, eventually, hopefully, the compilation of the writings of a long-dead Sith Master, the book Skygge was reading in the other thread. It is not RP so much as it is musings, though some RP will be involved. I also hope that it will start a number of such threads, written by TRF's Force Users and even those that are not Force users, detailing out thoughts on the nature of the Force. It is a different sort of writing for me, but one that I hope will be successful. Enjoy!

The Force. It is a concept believed in by Jedi and Sith alike, and by all those who have seen its power in action. It is impossible to deny in a galaxy filled with such displays. The Jedi, in their waning years now, hold to their philosophy that the Light Side of the Force is the true path so dogmatically that they deny themselves pleasure and opportunity for fear of straying from that path. On the other hand, the Sith hold that only the Dark Side is the proper method of using the Force, and in so doing kill not only the Jedi but also each other. It is a situation that has been so for millenia past and will probably exist for millenia future. And yet something tells me that it should not be so.

And thus I take it upon myself to do what so many other Masters of the Sith have done before me. Likely my work will end up on a shelf somewhere, never to be read but by those curious enough about this old Master's thoughts to perhaps remove it, dust it off, and laugh at the opinions contained within. And yet it is still my duty to write what I have known and seen, what I have experienced and what I believe is the true nature of the Force.

<O:pWhereas many others have undertaken this task before me, I hope to bring a new perspective to the field. It is a perspective that is without precident among the Sith, and most certainly unheard of amongst the Jedi. They have their own philosophies, both of them, and are not likely to be shaken from their dogmatic beliefs, despite what they may recognize, even on a subconscious level, as truth. Nevertheless, this is a new perspective that perhaps may affect the life of a Sith in the future, perhaps even one of my own students. It is with that purpose I begin this task, and it is with that goal in mind that I intend to see it through to its conclusion.

I once was where many Sith are now, with the Dark Side consuming every aspect of my being. I hated life, hated love, hated myself for what I was. Before that I was where the Jedi stagnate, wanting to love but fearing it, fearing but hating fear, hating but denying myself the ability to hate. I was in a quagmire, my soul being taken from me by the very beliefs that I held. There was one event, though, one defining moment that made me realize the error of both. I will describe that moment later, but it is sufficient now to say that it changed me. I am no longer afraid to love, no longer hating fear, no longer denying myself hate, and yet I am not consumed by the Darkness that has taken so many of my brethren, decaying them inside and out.

<O:p</O:p

How is this possible, you might ask. I have one explanation for it. Whether right or wrong I cannot tell. Perhaps some Sith in the future will read my work and write a response, perhaps coming up with a different and better explanation. I myself cannot. And so I presnet that application to you, and attempt, meager though the attempt might be, to present my view of the Force and its nature.<O:p</O:p
