Nightmares From The Past....

Chardoc stood on a barren plain where wind blowed the dust forwards, over the hundreds of bodies, that layed on the ground. Many of them burnt, some of them exploded and some were still alive. Cut in half screaming in pain begging him to help them, he was back on the same sight every single night. I wouldn`t leave him alone, he walks over the dead bodies looking for the same sight, that haunted him every night. The memories of the past cried in pain trying to grab him back, to drive in to insanity and perhaps he was already there because sometimes he laughed or cried with out no particular reason. He walks over a man who`s legs were exploded away and he grabs Chardoc by the leg, but Chardoc doesn`t even look at the man and kicks the man in the face. He walks to a pile of corpses, that are burned and sees a man besides the fire crawling towards the fire trying to end his pain. Then few medical men find the man and draw him out when he was just going to get there, the man could have had peace and justice would have been fullfilled unless he hadn`t been stopped. One of the medics pulls out a needle giving the man something, that would ease his pains and talks to the other medic while doing a diagnose. Chardoc walks behind them and they don`t notice him as he was the air itself behind them or as if he didn`t exist, if Chardoc was in reality he would have hoped that to be true.

"This guy is pretty fucked up...most of his skin has been burned and his a lucky one cause few spots have been spared, but his gonna die unless we take him to treatment. This guy is going need some serious treatment, if he wants to survive propbly new organs even because he`s taken a hell of a beating out here." The first medic said and the other went for their small shuttle bringing a floating bar where the man was placed, they pushed him to the shuttle talking while Chardoc followed him to the shuttle, which was full of other wounded men.

"All of these men are going to need new body parts and then their propably become like General Grievous. yak..everytime I see him somewhere he gives me the chills." Said the other medic and the first one nodded. "Yep and if many of these poor bastards survive their going to end up the same way as he did, but well not in that bad condition. I mean schees, that guy is a living machine literaly! Why did we ever get this lousy job? I should have never raised my hand when they asked volunters fo some job." the first medic sighs."I`ll have to handle guys like those in the back...their in the edge and in pain while i trie to save their lives..that`s torture..."

Some of the wounded wouldn`t make the shuttle trip, but neither wouldn`t the men outside, but some got lucky and others didn`t. The lucky one`s were the one`s, that didn`t survive the shuttle trip and those who were left outside. Chardoc sighs and sits next to the man, that they picked up last when the shuttle left off. The man`s face was white and burned, Chardoc could have sweared, that the man`s eye`s were full of emptyness, his heart beats so bitter and so slow, the man seemed to look at nothing as if he was blinded or something. The shuttle entered space where a BDE ship waited for them, the shuttle got into the hangar and the wounded were taken away to a closed section. Few putten to bacta tanks and most of them were stored where they put the dead people, there was doctors running everwhere and no one noticed him. Chardoc walked to the operating room and sat down to watch the operation his feet leaving a *klonk* sound when hitting agaisn`t the metal floor. Few of the surgeons choosed their patients and the burned man got first, robot parts were taken to them, burned body parts removed and holes in the man`s body filled with some sort of chemicals until they put robot parts there. The man suddenly woke up and screamed out of pain feeling pain, that no man should have deserved and the doctors looked for something to calm him down, but they had run out of it so they had to hear the man screams and the man was putten to the table so, that he couldn`t move a muscle. The man begged for death, cryed out in pain and cursed in the end of the operation when the last thing was made for him, they put the man into a bacta tank where he faded out to sleep...not knowing of the shock, that would await him when he would wake up. The shock of his transformation and the information, that he was the only poor bastard, that had survived from the rescued one`s. Chardoc walked to the bacta tank and looked at the man in it, touching the glass of the tank he grins when he sees his own reflection in the tank. The pain clouded everything and when it stopped it reminded, that it would return once again and so the nightmare would still continue...

Aboard the Tion Star Dragon Draconis in orbit around Rudrig.

Admiral Essex Vaako stood at the massive viewport of the command bridge, listening with perhaps half an ear to Captain Eus's daily report. A steaming mug of brady-laced caffa warmed Vaako's hands, his afternoon vice out here in space. The spicy aroma filled his nostrils as he breathed deep over the mug, and the brandy taste trailed a comfortable glow down into his gut.

From the viewport of the newly commissioned six-thousand-meter ship, Vaako looked out over the shipyards in the distance and the crosshatching space traffic going into and out of the planet.

"And finally, Engineering has passed final inspections," Eus reminded him. "The Star Dragon is ready and commissioned for active duty."

Vaako took a calm sip of his caffa. Brandy knocked off its bitter edge perfectly. "You pulled three more crews from the other Tions?" he asked. "One from each shift?"

"And reassigned their best officers to field training," Eus confirmed. "The Tion Star Destroyers have now been compensated with new crews, obviously being trained at the moment. Those crews won't be on active duty until they have surpassed our standards. As well--"

"And they will enter active duty on schedule?" Vaako interrupted Eus's worry about the new crews.

"Certainly," he replied, as he paged through datascreens on his datapad, seeking information. He looked up. "Currently the new crews manning the Tions will be ready in three weeks."

Vaako had expected that. "With the activity surrounding the Imperium since the Lord High Regent sealed our borders, it is only a matter of time when another incident will occur. Already those fools, the Farfalen, have allowed the Galactic Coalition to pry their noses in the Kessel Sector. If the Farfalen continue to let them pry, we may have to take matters into our own hands."

"Understood," Eus replied.

"Lord Admiral Kyric Zen needs to be reminded yet again," Vaako emphasized. "Have all off-world shipping from the Kessel Sector go through stringent customs again. It will slow the Farfalen's economy and hurt them for the time being. Understood?" He barely waited for Eus's nod, caught it in the man's ghostly reflection in the viewport. "Dispatch a fleet of DragonClaws to enforce the Kessel Sector if need be-- whatever it takes."

"Lord Admiral Zen will not be pleased."

Vaako's gaze slid away from the Tion Star Destroyers escorting the capital command battleship out of the drydock and away from Rudrig's orbit. He turned away from the viewport and spitted his officer of the Dragon fleet with a hard glare and a dry smile. "I am sure he is well aware of the foolish action he has done, Captain Eus. Keep to my orders and to our schedule. That will please me."

"Is that everything, Eus?" His tone came off more curt than he'd intended.

Captain Eus slid his datapad into the inner pocket of his pitch black uniform, the emblem of the Black Dragon Empire sewn on his high collar. Youthful, steel blue eyes seemed at odds with his salt-and-pepper hair. They also showed the intense will of a man determined to rise in the Imperium. "The DragonClaw Ryoken has arrived from their hyperspace point and has delivered their wounded. One of their Death Infantry Lieutanants, Chardoc, has requested a transfer to this battleship."

"He came all this way to make this request?" Vaako laughed, short and dark.

"What would you like me to do about him?"

He smiled, and then took another taste of his brandy-tipped caffa. He savored the momentary warmth, deciding how he wanted Chardoc cared for. "I will see him personally. His request has me most amused. If we take his request, I want you to keep him at arm's length for now."

"As you wish, sir."

"You're dismissed." Vaako waved the man away with an imperious gesture.

Chardoc stood there for a moment still touching the glass and then went to sit at the closest chair, he buries his face into his hands and cries slightly because the memories of pain were too powerful. They still haunted him and they wouldn`t let go until he would die, that`s why he was the unlucky one from the battle. Chardoc looks once again at himself in the tank and then begins to reast against a desk next to the chair, but doesn`t turn his eyes from the tank. He waits for seconds, minutes and a hour until some movement happens. A green light begins to beep and a the surgeon runs up to the tank with his assitant, they begin to talk.

"He´s regaining conciousness, I want a full examination of this guy when he´s clamed down and gotten properly on his feet, but that will be soon cause his robotic parts will take care of that and he`ll be stronger than he could ever be as a human." The doctor sounded slightly happy about his creation for, which Chardoc hated him for the rest of his life.

"Yes doctor, but what shall we say to him when he wakes up? Tell him that he`s become monstrosity because of you and that his service would continue? Many of this kind experiments have gone horribly wrong because they are not humans or they lose their minds when they know what they have become." The assistant sounded worried.

"Bah... i´m sure he won`t go mad because I read his record, he is a natural born killer, in combat sitsuations his nerves haven`t betrayed him or he hasn`t paniced, that is mark about accepting facts as a soldier. Oh..I almost forgot, that he is to be tranfered to Draconis soon as possibe with the other wounded. Sadly there are only few wounded so this is kinda no reason trip, but before this battle this guy had asked for a transfer and it was taken under thinking so I believe, that he has earned his transfer..." The Surgeon explained.

The assistant was confused "Yes he certaily earns his transfer, but what do you mean by accepting facts? What facts?"

The surgeon smiles "That your already dead.."

Suddenly Chardoc`s eyes opened and he woke up screaming out of pure pain, which didn`t yet leave him alone and the doctor tried to make him calm down, but Chardoc refused and tried to strangele out. He now had also realised his tranformation and some cable`s attached into his body, which didn`t make it any easier for the surgeon to calm him down. They begin to empty the tank soon as Chardoc`s panic is over and plugg him off soon as they have checked that his machine parts are working. He leans on the tank touching himself and his eyes get larger with every touch, he began to go down against the tank until he was stiing against it.

With a cold and couching voice Chardoc was able to spit out some words and bacta "What happened to me? Who did this to me? How in the hell did this come to pass and where am I?"

The surgeon began with a friendly voice. "Your on the medical facility on Ryoken Liutenant Chardoc and I am happy to inform you, that your still alive thanks to me. You also just got your transfer or at least the commander of our ship has agreed, but we don`t know about draconis. With luck they`ll pity you enough..." The surgeon talked with a positive voice and Chardoc´s eyes narrowed.

"So.. it was you cutting me...puting new parts into me..and making me....this..." Chardoc points at his robot parts and grabs the doctor from his clothes agressivly, which makes few guards to pull out their blasters and point at Chardoc obviously the surgeon had been prepared for this.

"See? Their going to blast you away no matter your rank cause I have seen them do it cause many like you have been read as harmful and dangerous madmen even to your own siders. So please let me go and live.."The surgeon smiled, but Chardoc smiled back and grins slightly.

"Really? Well have you ever been face to face with a man who has no reason to live? Who can ironicly crush your troath, only beacause you installed him a new hand? No you haven`t I guess..but I`ll let you go...for now.." Chardoc grins in pain and lets the surgeon go.

"Now please someone help me up!" He screams as a command and the guards rise him so stand between them, they help him to a surgery table where he lays down to rest after they got him walking by himself. They begin to make sure that his body parts and organs are stable, then he rests for a while and the real Chardoc who sees his past gets up from the chair walking to the table. He looks at himself whispering to himself.

"Was it, that bad? Did I look like this? I can`t remember, but I had come from hell that day...."

The assistant come to Chardoc on the table.

"Liutenant you had that transfer so we would want you to move soon as possible and get in to your new uniform or actually your old, but modified for your new parts."

Chardoc nods without saying a word and gets up following the assistant with hard steps as the real Chardoc followed the past self to the next room where the dead and wounded persons equipment was storaged. There was weapons gathered in boxes for new people to kill with them and some suit`s, Chardoc got his suit helped on to him and he moved around in it feeling something new. That new was power, that his new body granted him and he felt powerful, but to his suprise not even tired and that wasn`t because of the suit or body parts. It was because he became something new thinking, that he could start a new life and take his wife with him, but he would be sadly wrong. Chardoc was ready and left for the shuttle to take him away from Ryoken, where his horrible tranformation had taken place and he was suprised to hear at the shuttle, that he was to speak with a high ran officer. About how high he didn`t know, but he thought that to be the last suprise and he would be sadly wrong at that too....
