Zoe looked at her arm and saw that the dirt was slowly coming off. She rubbed the soap on the rag and started washing herself off, not remembering Jaina's warning to not wash her face and getting soap in her eyes, screaming and crying because it hurt

Jai jumped back. Since she had never been around kids, it was safe to assume that she absolutely never been around a kid who was in pain and crying.

"Uh...Uh...." She was panicing...this was bad...she could fight pirates, kill senators, and smuggle spice...but she couldn't help a kid who had soap in thier eyes?! She proclaimed herself completely useless to humankind.

Suddenly, it hit her. Clean water.....She turned on the faucet and got a cupped handful of clean water and threw back Zoe's head, running in over her eyes.

"There! Better? Stop crying, ok? Please? Don't cry...please please...ok?"

Zoe started screaming more, the water only making more soap go into her eyes. She started apologizing and pleading, thinking she was being punished or something. It was the cruelest punishment she had endured, she thought, and she didn't understand what she had done to deserve it.

This is a disaster., Jai thought to herself.

"Ok...It's ok..calm down. Uhhhh......"

Jai took a last ditch effort and put the washrag under the water, got all the soap out of it, and filled it up with clear water.

"Ok, Zoe, hold still...ok? Just chill out...this is going to help. I think."

She gently moved the clean washcloth over her eyes, hopeing to all things that it would make her stop screaming..

At first Zoe put up her hands and started to fight, then she calmed down and decided that she must have deserved to be punished and that if it was going to continue, it had to be her fault. She started to calm down considerably when her eyes stopped stinging, the cool washcloth feeling good.

Jai was shocked when the young girl started to calm down...

"That's better, huh? See! I told you not to get it in your eyes, Kid!" Her voice was stern, but held a softness. She was sorry that she'd freaked out, but the kid had done exactly what she'd warned her not to....

Jai sighed and sat back on her knees beside the tub. This was much harder than she'd thought.

Zoe sniffled and looked at Jaina. Her eyes were bloodshot from having gotten the soap in them and she blinked more frequently than normal.

I'm sorry. Please don't hurt me. I won't do it again, I promise.

Jai just looked at her, got up, and went to the medicine cabinet. She got out a small bottle of eyedrops and came back over.

"Come here." She didn't feel like fighting her, and commands were the only way she knew how to get her to do something on the spot.

"You didn't do anything wrong. Your not in trouble. That was all just an accident. Now, these make your eyes feel normal agian, even better than normal. So just relax."

Jai got her to lean her head back and little and she quickly dropped three eyedrops per eye and then pulled away. "Blink, alot...it will help."

Zoe did as she was told, blinking over and over again until her eyes felt better. She smiled at Jaina a moment.

Am I clean now?

Jai smiled back a little, "Almost."

She left for a moment and came back with a pair of swim goggles. She had Zoe put them on and explained that they would keep her eyes dry. She then explain the process of washing and condition one's hair, and said that she'd do it this time she Zoe would know what she meant.

She got the shampoo/conditioner and walked Zoe through each step, getting her to hold her breath while she rinsed her hair. She pulled the stopper in the tub abd let the dirty water run out and look at Zoe...."See? That wasn't so bad, eh?"
