Kate smirked," Enh, just a scratch." she said. She then looked skyward. She had sworn in her youth to stay by those she held dear , These words hung heavily on her mind. She had spoken them once and declared them a law she'd live her life by. Kate lifted her voice above the silence," I don't know about you guys, but I was told long ago words of which I will not forget. 'Never back out of a fight; though life may be hanging on by a single thread which is thining, if it is for good cause..then stay with it, and don't leave until it's done. Fight to the death, but never stop fighting, hang tight until the battle is won and the war over.'
I don't know about you all, but I fully intend on keeping my part of the deal until this job's done."
Zeralin Lah stared blankly at the glowboard, the blue bugs fleeing the scene with an urgency visible even through the vague means of displaying the situation. He looked down at the floor, then at the board again, as if doing so would somehow magically readjust his eyes and display the truth, beyond this myth.
"Casualties?" he asked, as calmly as possible.
"Sixty-five, Commander," replied one of them.
Sixty-five. "Estimates as to the Jeedai casualties?"
"Somewhere in the hundreds, it would seem, Commander. Exact numbers are impossible to determine; the battle was chaotic."
Zeralin Lah nodded quietly, and stood. "We will brook this interference for only so long. Have all units continue their activities as ordered, and attack all Jedi on sight." Zeralin Lah paused for a moment, smiling a humorless smile that would send shivers down the spines of even some hardened warriors. "But leave the police forces they encounter until the last, to enslave."
The Yuuzhan Vong Commander stood, offering a salute to his fellows, and began to head for the entranceway of the small, living shelter. "What are you planning?" Asked Kilraak Sovax, stepping in front of him.
"Only a small visit to our friend, the infidel Lieutenant Governor."
The younger warrior lowered his eyes. "I know what you are going to do. The shapers will be displeased. You know they want this coomb spore tested to its fullest."
Zeralin Lah chuckled. "And it will be tested. I am sure that the infidel will not know that he is under internal duress to follow my commands; he will be too busy taking notice of the external."
Gash had been rather uncertain about dividing the Rogue Jedi and Ossan forces into two squads, but he'd done so nonetheless. Two groups to divide and assault two fronts; human and Vong. The Jedi Master's thoughts raced as fast as the ground below him flew by.
Kamon had left with a detachment of troops to investigate the government, while the others, along with Gash, had boarded the Marauder Corvettes and rushed towards the closest Vereshian city.
Kasien paced through the crowded hangar towards Gash. "We're almost there."
"What do you expect we'll encounter once there?"
"Who knows?" Kasien asked. "These Vong don't work with metal vessels; we have no orbittal radar identification on them. Nothing to go on."
"Then the best we can do is go where they'll be going."
"Where more people are."
"Yes."
Kasien sat down, staring at his blaster. "What are they doing here?"
"What they exist to do. Gaining territory." Gash shook his head. "They Yuuzhan Vong don't think like us. They don't work on motives normal beings might. They only have one goal, and that's to expand and conquer."
"You've done your research," Kasien said. The commlink at his waist buzzed, and he finished, "We're here. We're landing."
Inside the Marauder Corvette, Ade-Ay had his lightsaber in hand. He couldn't let go of it. His busted-up shoulder was hurting pretty bad. He focused his energy on healing it to the point of no pain.
Ade-Ay wanted to know what was going on and what their plan was. He had never seen a Vong ship before, but knew they didn't have metal ones. He traced Gash to the Hangar through the force. The Marauder started to land as he walked towards Master Gash Jiren. The sound of the ship squeeling as they land emptied waves and waves of echoing sound throughout the hangar. The wind picked up as soon as he was face-to-face with Master Jiren himself.
"Master Jiren." He said, raising his voice above the low, grumble sound of the ship taking it's toll against the outside weather. " We both know they don't have ships like us, aren't we taking the chance of them attacking with a full-fledged army? This could be a trap. One that could find the lives of us all."
