It is hard to imagine a planet that spawned a faction known through-out the galaxy, a planet home to a rare iron element and, a planet not far from the warm center of the galaxy... That a planet with all these traits, could be lost to time, its location vanished from major starmaps and removed from even the greatest halls knowedge. Hard to believe, yes, but true none-the-less.
Mandalore had been home to those near-human warriors of the same name, it had hosted a veritable army of mercenaries. Here the Mandalorians had evolved over time into a savage and hearty species, it was here that they honed their combat skills and here that they hid, or were lost, from the galaxy.
The planet was also the only known place where Mandalorian Ore could be found, and mined. A nearly invulnerable substance, resistant to even lightsabers, Mandalorian Iron has long been a highly regarded galactic asset. Despite this and many other events of history, Mandalore somehow found itself again lost to the galactic scene.
Perhaps the reasons could be found in the past, perhaps they could be found in the descimation of the warrior species. Indeed, those answers may well have been known to more then a few at one point but, no longer. They had been routed in a battle near Coruscant, as the story went, and only a limited number of Mandalorians survived the chaos. Fett among them.
That was where the key had been found. In the depths of the memory of Jorel Fett, clone of the infamous, Boba Fett, clone of his predecessor, Jorel Fett. A key that may never have been discovered had Jorel never met the man they called Pike.
Answers had come from Fett's genes, his DNA, of all places. Indeed, perhaps Fett had always remembered the location of that wonderous planet but, regardless, Beff Pike had sought long and hard through the memory of Fett's blood. Fett may have been testing him, true, but this was unlikely... They both had so much to gain.
The practical application of Fetts memories was rather more problematic. Both had nearly lost their lives, so many years back, searching for the planet. Searching for Mandalore.
No starmaps, nor annals of learning, nor halls of history, had held the location of their goal. Indeed, even clues and hints of the planets history and location had seemingly been removed... and at some cost. Every trace had been painstakingly removed from the galactic community... Or had it?
The potential was always there. They had always known there might be a chance that Mandalore had never revealed itself openly to the galaxy but, this seemed unlikely. Not with the impact the locals of Mandalore had left on the galaxy as a whole...
Regardless of these potentials, Fett and Pike had set out on an expidition, a top to bottom search for the planet Mandalore. An adventure that ranged across half the galaxy and had turned around on countless rumors or old-wives tales. Spacers old and young knew the name, "Mandalore", but very few had ever learnt more then the name. A hint of the planets past, or mentions of noteable figures to have come from the region; namely Boba Fett. Clues and trials had awaited them at every turn, every corner, and at times it seemed more of a wild-mynock chase then any real founded venture.
Space is an immense place... Even finding something so large as a planet would be dwarfed on this scale.
