"Local boy..." The local Bastion News at 3 A.M. flickered from non-important story to the next non-important story every few seconds. Nothing substantial ever happened at 3 A.M. Bastion's 3 A.M. news compiled useless stories like the Galactic Inquirer. Because of these near non-entinty news stories, the retired Joseph Handler fell asleep on his Bantha hide sofa every night.
"...This just in!!!" A buzzer and dramatic music flashed from the TV screen as a header saying Breaking News replaced the usual man and woman news Anchors. Interrupting snores and dreams, the ex-Moff jolted upright on his sofa. Hopefully, he thought, it wasn't another one of the newest "Girls Gone Wild on Bastion" home videos. If it was, he'd be pretty mad that it woke him up; afterall since when do dignified politicians resort to "loser" get off ways.
But to the pudgy little man's luck, it truely was a breaking news. A ticker began scrolling on the bottom of the screen, too, reporting tidbits of information. "A reporter filming a behind the scenes documentary on The Glorious New Order's newest Star Destroyer, an Eclipse, has just reported that a full New Republic Fleet destroyed the under construction Eclipse project along with a shipyard."
"Death tolls are estimated more than the Fondor Massacre back during the Vector Prime. Immediately, Moff Cronus began defenisve measures but his reinforcements were too little too late."
"Or intelligence liason believes the New Republic possess their own Eclipse Star Destroyer. We will have retired a Maw Instillation engineer with us soon to discuss how a superlaser could be fitted on a starship."
The moff flipped the channel to a more prestigious news station, "It has been confirmed that Admiral Hyfe's division is fighting valiantly, but is no match for the New Republic Fleet. General Ming's division is augmenting Hyfe's, but with the NR Eclipse wreaking havoc, it is just a matter of time before the fleets are dismantled. Now to the ground where we have an eyewitness report of the destruction..."
"...I was just about to go to sleep when I saw this..."
Handler switched stations again, this time to a private military only station he had hacked. "The Braxtant Sector fleet has arrived at Muunilist. Wing Commander Allger reports success on the Starfighter side of the battle, but his forces are being picked off by enemy fire and friendly fire alike. The Eclipse is confirmed dead and beyond repair."
"There has been a call from acting Lord Regent that all forces are to retreat to respective bases and send their commanders to Bastion for an emergency planning."
"In addition, the Imperial Senate has announced emergency sessions." Shots of the New Order fleet retreating, and those ships too disabled to retreat, took over the screen.
The retired Moff was aghast. Never in his years did he think he would see the New Republic pummel the New Order so viciously. But the New Order would prevail, eventually. And to prevail, it would need all the help it could get. With its central bank under New Republic Control, Money would be needed, ships would be needed and personell would be needed.
"Time for me to return to duty, for the Empire!" The Moff would return to action. He would see to it that the New Order prevailed through this time.
