The Denial

She bore down on the uncloaked ship, quickly marking the Infiltrator as enemy even as her engines burnt blue hot, spurring her on.

From wingtips leapt a barrage of proton torpedoes, each with the sole purpose of seeking the enemy. But again, these warheads were prepared for a cloaked enemy. Rather then seek direct hits, the projectile instead exploded dozens of meters shy of their target... filling the space around the diminuitive ship with concussive force.

The aim, destablize it's cloak and leave the Serendipty a chance to escape... A thing she would have to do on her own.

Finished the sweeping dive, the Denial flew on... She did not turn or alter her course to return and defend, but rather the ship made not but a straight line for a pre-set exit point. In her wake followed the swarm of fighters and stealths that remained.

Multiple explosions rocked the Spy, and alarms began to squeal their irritating news. No one spoke orders aboard the ship, each knew their duties and what was expected and required.

“Sir, we’ve lost three crystals, the cloak appears to be fine other than that. Unknown if any crystals are fractured.”

“Stang” cursed the captain, as he rubbed his hand through his hair. “Get it up anyway.”

“Yesir!”

Over the top of the Spy a massive spacial disturbance was registered, and every crewmember braced for impact. An impact that never happened.

“Cloak up! Two more crystals have fractured, we are down to 79% coolant ability, projected time of cloak capability is ten minutes.”

The captain muttered something about how fragile crystals were, and the crew in its entirety agreed wholeheartedly.

“Engine status?”

“90%, no leaks.”

“Hull integrity?”

“86%, no leaks.”

“Follow that other decloaked ship.”

The Serendipity

"Where are they? FIRE!"

The captain was referring, of course, to the Stalkers unique tracker-cannons which had been ready for the moment. Mounted at angles on the hull to present a prime target range, each cannon could be heard thumping twice... firing a small specialized droid tracking unit which was designed, through the use of a deceptive sensor trick, to slip under enemy shields unrecognized as an incoming projectile (a tactic that had worked, though only rarely, in practice).

"Helm, more power! Get us moving!"

Next came the frantic call of the XO, "They're gone, sir. The Denial is gone... Left us alone."

This changed the odds, and not favorably, "Status?"

Again, the report of his exutive officer, "Shields are holding at 45%, the cloak is still at peak efficiency. We're not venting anymore, safe to cloak. Engines are lagging, we've lost hyperspace..."

"And?"

"We're alone."

The captains shoulders slouched noticeably before a new resolve showed itself with a stiff chin. "Prepare for boarding. If these raiders really want to tango with a bunch of scum and villainy... We'll show 'em."

"Sir?"

"You heard me. Signal all hands, ready for boarding."

The Spy cruised silently behind the enemy ship, its systems damaged but functioning well enough. The crewmen were silent, the usually joking two in the back just glaring at each other.

The detonations had scared them. Used to never being detected, or noticed, this was an unfamiliar situation for them to be in.

“Prepare the last bombs” whispered the Captain. “She’s damaged some, let’s put a bit more on…”

“Yesir,” replied one of the crewmen.

“Suit up.” Said the first mate, unnecessarily.

Clak’Dor

The messages were swift, muddled, and incoherent. The Everything New had managed to cobble together a com system, and she was asking for backup. Unfortunately, the makeshift com was incapable of interfacing with the main computer, so scanner records could not be transmitted.

“What do you mean, Cloaked ships attacked you?”

“Exactly that. Big ships, cloaked. More than one, three or four I would say. Fully equipped with fighters, and some sort of bombers.” Replied the Captain, exasperated. “The Infiltrator is still back there, I think she may be in serious trouble.”

It took awhile, but finally orders were given for reinforcements to be sent.
