<!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Her first mission.... Her first chance to prove that she was Loyal to the Hapes Consortium. Her first chance at a grasp of power....<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> She stood calmly aboard the Imperial Star Destroyer <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Heir of Ratkus<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> with her hands folded nearly behind her back. The Command Bridge of an Imperial-Class Star Destroyer was much larger than she had anticipated. It’s large, gray metallic control panels, and it’s busy crew.... It was all so, delicate and powerful. She turned to the Navigations officer as she stood, overlooking the blank backdrop of space that lay before her. She had seen it once before, as a child, but never did she dream that she would see it from the view of a Command bridge on a powerful military vessel. Flanking the port, and starboard sides of the ship, were the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Formidable, Invincible, Incisor, Nova, Slicer, and Carmens Steed<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->, several different classes of carriers. Patrolling the vicinity of the small Floatilla were several squadrons of TIE Phantoms.
“How close are we, Lieutenant?” Akinyelle asked as the Navigations officer saluted to her.
“We should be arriving outside of <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Maires<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> within the next hour, or so, Captain.”
She nodded her head, and turned back to the thick glass windows separating her from the darkness of space outside. The blue planet of <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Maires<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> was slowly coming into plain view, starting out as a mere speck among the glowing dots, and then gradually growing in size as the Floatilla approached it.

“Captain, we’re approaching the Planet of Maires, and we are receiving a frequency from the Planet’s governing force.”
Akinyelle nodded, moving over to the visual communications panel as a blue haze appeared in the shape of the water-breathing species, known as the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Marians<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->, natives to the planet Maires. She smiled at the figure as a small holocam floated in front of her face, allowing the Marian to see her, as she could see him.
“Greetings from the Hapan Royal Navy, my lord.” Akinyelle said in a peaceful, inviting tone.
The fishlike creature made a strange <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> gurgle<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> sound, which she wasn’t sure if it was a word, or some sort of communication. She looked around for a moment as the crew on the Command Bridge paused, watching her as she attempted to communicate with the species. A strange musical chant began to play as the fishlike creature raised a beautiful robust shell to his fishlike mouth. She looked around once more as the enchanting music continued to play, it’s tone warming and inviting.
“Can someone please bring me a Protocal Droid? I believe he is attempting to communicate.” Akinyelle asked as two crewmembers stood from their seats, and began speaking into a ship-wide intercom. Within a few moments, a silver Protocal droid waddled up next to her.
“Greetings. I am C4-D3, Human Cyborg Relations.”
She nodded her head, and looked back at the blue haze as the music continued to play through the frail shell that the Maires held to his mouth.
“Can you translate that, C4?” she asked in a soft tone, listening to the enchanting, and divine tune of the shell.
“Yes, as you know, I am fluent in over 6 billion forms of...”
Before the droid could continue, Akinyelle looked at him, impatience in her eyes.
“Yes, of course.” the droid said.
The inviting music of the shell continued to play over the communications link as the droid stood for a moment, taking in the speech.
“He says, To what do I owe the pleasure of such a visit, Captain?”
Akinyelle smiled, and looked down at the fuzzy blue haze.
“Tell him that we wish to negotiate a possible treaty of eternal friendship between the Hapes, and the Maires.”
The Protocal droid stepped up to the visual communicator, and began to whistle the same tune as the Shell played, it’s soft tone soothing to the soul. A few minutes of communication, and the shell’s tone began to grow more dark, and less inviting.
The Protocal droid turned around, and, in a low tone, began to speak. “The Supreme Magistrate of the Council of Maires will hear no such talks of peace. He says, he remembers and the Maires remember the event of the Vergills, and their undersea ditanium mining operation outside of the Mairan consulate several years ago, and it is an unforgivable act of hostility.”
<!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Silence....<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> A long, agonizing silence. Akinyelle stood, shocked at the message from the Supreme Magistrate, and his views of the Hapan Monarchy.
“C4, tell him that our previous relationship has been blemished, but the future holds a more powerful, and firm alliance for the Mairan people, if they so wish it.”
The droid nodded his head, and began to whistle the soft tone of the heavenly music that the Mairan people used as a language. After he finished, there was a long silence. A silence that remained unbroken. A silence that would not be forgotten.
Everyone stared at the glowing blue haze, as it continued to fizzle, the shape of the Supreme Magistrate of the planet Maires, his tentacles shifting from left to right, stood silent. Not a word, or gurgle. Not a mystical, musical hum. Nothing.
After several minutes of Silence, the blue haze cut off, and the I.S.D. <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Heir of Ratkus<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> shook, throwing Akinyelle to the floor, and the droid against the hard metallic blue wall. The crew on the command bridge rushed around as the ‘Red Alert’ buttons began to flash, and the warning sirens began to go off.
“We’re under attack!” cried one of the weapons officers.
“Man your battle stations! Raise shields!” cried another.
Akinyelle stood quickly, running over to the command bridge’s view ports.
“Get me the status of there planetary defenses!” Akinyelle yelled as the ship rocked once more. “And get the shields up!”
