Jutraal - Senate Meeting - Closed Session
The Senate Chamber was a grand structure, carved from the finest stones and ordained with rich metals and expensive woods from a half a dozen worlds. It was said that this room was one of Chadd Fearsons' favourites, a tribute to the Empire that he had created.
The Empire that was, today, the issue on the table.
"The fleet is prepared. Our soldiers stand strong across all worlds to defend against an enemy incursion. We will not be jepordized by the loss of our esteemed leader." The Senator from Jutraal bellowed, his voice rising above the noisy din of the chamber.
The pudgy man who stared as the Thyferran senator started at the speaker, emotionless (at least, so far as any of the others present could tell).
"May I remind the esteemed senator from Jutraal of the other problems that face the Empire? There is no one with the authority to issue orders, nor anyone with access to our archives any longer. In short, ladies and gentlemen, the Jutraalian Empire has been crippled."
"Impossible!" Cried the other man, the Jutraalian senator. "The Empire has withstood such assaults before. We can - we will - prevail!"
The Thyferran senator simply shook his head sadly.
"No, Senator. We have not. I remind you of the Wrath Outbreak, the last time Chadd Fearsons vanished."
There was a silence, a rare moment of stillness, in the room. The Wrath Virus had decimated the galaxy, including the Jutraalian Empire. But Fearsons had vanished before that. Before the outbreak, fleeing (it was said) into the Unknown Regions with the Chiss...
The Jutraalian Senator had regained his composure, and was speaking still. "Nonetheless, we shall prevail. We shan't let the Jutraalian Empire be torn apart by opertunistic warlords!"
The Senator from Thyferra sighed. Crisis or not, this was going to take a while.

"And in a more startling turn of events, the Jutraalian Empire has announced the disappearence of their esteemed leader, Emperor Chadwick Fearsons. Fearsons has not been heard from in excess of a week, and is presumed to be missing, believed dead."
"It is true, then." Bhindi Drayson said, turning slowly in the oversized command chair set in the commander's lounge aboard the Star Destroyer Nirvana. Commander Godridge only nodded, his face pale. The reports had been buzzing around Imperial Command for the last week, first that Intelligence had lost the Emperor, and then picking up that the Jutraalian's own people had lost him, too. It was an interesting week, to say the least.
"It's utter chaos on Jutraal, Admiral. The Senators are fighting amonst themselves, trying to figure if it's time to declare a campaign for leadership, much less how they should go about it." He stopped, trying (and failing) to hide a smile. "The slime campaigns have already started."
"Is there any chance that this is a cover? An attempt on Fearsons' part to stretch us out, then strike when we're on the tightrope?"
"Possible, Admiral. But Intel assures me that it's unlikely. They've called their best agents in on this one. Jutraal is as much in the dark as we are."
"The question then is, Commander, what do we do about the situation?" Godridge smirked a bit.
"The only thing we can do, Admiral. Take advantadge of it."
Bhindi smiled, nodding.
"There are reports, unsubstantiated of course, that the senator from Thyferra has been supporting the fall of the Jutraalian Empire. Are you familiar with their political devides, Commander?"
"I'm afraid not, Admiral. I've been studying the New Order itself."
"Understandable. Regardless... the Jutraalians split their governments between three splinters: the Thyferran Parliment, the Csilla Parliment, and the Jutraalian Parliment, or the Empire proper. The Thyferran Parliment was entitled to its own defensive forces, to mantain as they saw fit. And all that power-"
"Is in the hands of the Senator."
"Precisely, Commander. Senator Ferrel - that's the name of the Thyferran Senator, obviously - has much power resting with him. I have sent Agent Drev to make contact with him, and perhaps support his rise to power within the Jutraalian Empire, should it remain as such."
Godridge was nodding slowly, beginning to understand the concepts of Bhindi's plans, eyes glittering as he no doubt ran scenarios and plots through his own head.
"You wish to exploit him." He said, not questioning. She nodded slightly.
"Yes." She said bluntly. "With Ferrel's help, we can bring the Jutraalian Empire firmly, for the first time, in line with the Empire." And, she added to herself, repay them for Thyferra. "Mobolize the fleet, Commander. I want us prepared to move on a moment's notice."
