(All Endgame threads [with the exception of Empire Forever] to run concurrent with each other)

Prologue… taken from Portents of Coming Darkness: Imperial Resurgence…

"Isard is a fool." he finally said in a rather oblique way of answering. "Her grab for power nearly ruined the Empire's political position among the galactic factions.."

"..and you sought to put measures in place for her systematic removal?" came Kaine's ironic reply.

"Imperial Intelligence is becoming a powerful presence behind the Regency..."

"Ah.. the Regency.." Kaine whispered softly.

The man shifted uneasily. "I mean't the Imperial Government."

Then the intruder's eyes narrowed. "Believe it or not, General, Intelligence wields much power among the governing Moffs and it is only a matter of time before they exert that same control over the military. You may win our victories General but we control your destiny."

Kaine made no effort to sound impressed. In fact, he made to effort to respond at all except to continue to stare out the window at the planet.

*

"But Why bring down Isard?"

This was a touchy subject for the Intel man..

"It's not so much that I desire to bring her down because she does serve the Empire well in certain capacities."

"Even fools have their place." came Kaine's philosophical remark.

"I want her level of power to be checked. Gormul, Julius and I are kept in check with proper, albeit rather loose, protocols. All our information gathered goes to Isard..or if in a hotspot, to the leading military commander on hand. She alone controls what the Empire sees and.."

"..and Information is power." Kaine again whispered.

"Yes."

"She orchestrated the assassination attempt on the New Republic alien Admiral didn't she?"

Ciscero's head turned sharply. "How did you find that out? Nobody knows that except..."

"..the Order of Golgotha, who were her lacky's in that failed attempt."

"It cost us dearly." the Intel man confirmed.

"Militarily and in the cost of our own civilian's lives, yes, I would agree. However, Intel's position was strengthened both here and abroad."

With one final look at the planet, Kaine stood and faced the Intelligence Officer.

"With all the fighting we've been doing, defending ourselves against treachery from outside and within, you might think that the military loses sight of the bigger picture."

Kaine touched a button on the armrest of his chair and a man was dragged in; someone Ciscero was unfamiliar with.

"With the military on alert, we've been too busy to really take note of the fact that we've not heard from the Regent for some time. The Regent's own eccentricities tended to leaving military matters in military hands. He merely expected (and rightly so) results. However, now we find as point of fact that Imperial Intelligence seems to have inserted themselves inbetween us and the Regent."

Ciscero smiled grimly, relaxing slightly when he realized the General had a grasp of what was going on. "Misinformation secures Intel's position."

"To the Regent, yes."

"In effect, what we have is a coup. Silent, without upset, and complete."

*

"Make no mistake Ciscero. I do not condone treachery nor will I sit by and watch what we have fought hard to protect simply taken over by power-hungry meglomaniacs and opportunists."

"The military is acting then? There is to be another civil war?" Ciscero asked quietly.

"A war?" Kaine mimicked. "Hardly. It is time for the Empire to transcend the meddlesome weeds that have been rooted in our government for far too long."

"But why the fleet? Just use the planetary forces to purge the insurgent elements."

"Because Isard is only the small fish in the larger pond.

*

"How will you maintain secrecy?"

Kaine actually smiled at that. "By travelling to Krake's Planet and speaking to Director Isard on my own terms. She will be too overwhelmed to be annoyed."

"She will want a part in this.." Ciscero agreed and both men stepped through the gate to arrive on Satikan.

But what part remains to be seen General.

Now… Krake’s Planet

Analysis Team 304

The small silver info packet came the by the usual means and the five members extracted the information with ease, running the first simple diagnostics and rough conclusions were achieved by means of simple exercises.

The first… a copy of a small speech…

“And what has the Republic done for us? He cried. The crowd, caught up in his words, screamed in agreement. Nothing! That's what! They hide in their precious towers, sqaundering our hard-earned money and letting the true terrorists, those who resurrected the Death Star, walk free!

Comment: Speaker is not so subtly sending a call to arms against the Jutraalian Empire. Suspect in GDI pay.

The Jutraalian had not fired a shot in aggression before the attack on Hoth according to recorders recovered from vessels on hand during the attack. Unclear the use of terrorist term.

And just when we think they've done enough, they attack an innocent party and call them terrorists! Of all the pathetic, ill-thought-out masks in the book! And what's more, they employ former Sith Lords, people who have murdered thousands, hundreds of thousands, and they welcome them into the fold as brothers, entrsusting them with the most powerful weapons ever concieved! And Gash Jiren went so far as to set Ahnk Rashanagok, the man who betrayed the Republic at Dantooine, free!

Useful. ‘Senator’ displaying anti Jedi feelings… Lack of objectivity hinders quality of results.

The crowd screamed their approval, their roars echoing from the towering skyscrapers that cast the plaza into shadow.

Observation: crowd not utilized properly. Mania clouds coherent thought.

And our leaders? Leia Organa Solo, the Jedi Warrior who would rather practice her magic tricks than lead this Republic to its salvation? I ask you, what has this Republic done for us?

Speaker never defined, “us”. Clearly not a Republican.

The reply came from the front, building in volume and strength as it caught on among the thousands in the plaza.

NOTHING! NOTHING! NOTHING! NOTHTING!

Mania may be useful.

Conclusion: Agent to be sent to GDI system for further information on brewing conflict with New Republic. 65% probability entire speech was GDI propaganda as noted by the lack of mention to the New Republic’s true capital, Corelia.

End the violence! Down with the Republic! End the violence! Down with the Republic!

Lingual Observation: statement is an oxymoron.

Almost immediately as Packet #23959218-B was sent to Cryptology Department, another silver packet came down…

Tradegy has struck today in the midst of a great conflict of words between the Galactic Republic and the Galactic Defence Initiative. The Ynar Lines Globe-class Super Transport Lady Eriadu was destroyed as it attempted to enter the Eriadu system, where New Republic warships currently face off against those of the Galactic Defence Initiative.

The Liner, returning from Bilbringi, struck the Abolisher fields raised by Republic warships before her emergence from hyperspace. The wreckage was found by GDI scout ships three hours ago.

Lady Eriadu was carrying three thousand passengers and 617 crew. All hands were lost. This terrible tradegy would not have come about without the presence of New Republic Abolishers in the system, who failed to send out a general alert informing all craft of the appearence of these lethal fields.

Several dozen other, smaller civilian vessels are also missing, presumed lost, in the Abolisher fields.

Observation: GDI planets also failed to send out general alert informing all craft of the blockade of their systems by Abolisher fields.

A third packet in quick succession told the analysts that they might have an easy morning given the content so far.

”I am Admiral Kamon Vondiranach of the New Republic Navy. I am also the Prince of Tholatin and a Rogue Jedi Knight. The actions that you perceive as being the actions of the Republic are in fact actions of an Admiral that was given no orders except by Chadd Fearsons, the leader of the Jutrallian Empire. Yes, Admiral Mnar is a traitor and a pawn being used to further the cause of the Jutrallian's."

"I personaly was not informed of his plans as he has claimed has happened. My faction, the Tholatin Republic, is allied with the Global Defense Initiative. I support them in many thing. I will support them in taking down Mnar, if what i have been told through my intelligence agents is true. Rest assured, Mnar will not go unpunished. He stole a fleet that did not belong to him, but to the Republic. I hope you now understand what truly is going on. I must leave now so I can meet with Supreme Commander Isstal and Mnar. I go in peace."

Query: Kamon Vondiranach same person who attacked Fondor at the behest of Emperor Fearsons?

Isolate and identify loyalty change.

Alliance between Tholatin Republic and GDI noted.

Review current designs on Tholatin and extrapolate possible scenarios.

Note: Rogue Jedi Knight siding with those who would tear down the creator of the Rogue Jedi Order. Fundamental collapse of religious system points to Jedi ineffectiveness.

He does not go in peace.

Agent to the Tholatin Republic activated.

Drake’s Planet – Imperial Intelligence HQ

Imperial Intelligence Director Ysanne Isard walked with iron purpose; born from the same fires as her iron will…

A will that saw the survival of the most feared, most effective, and certainly most powerful intelligence agency in the galaxy.

When the Emperor… when the Empire fell to the dissidents, it was Isard’s children that kept the nobles informed. It was their blood that made possible the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn, that made possible the ambiguity of Bastion, and it was their blood that would make possible again, the rise of a New Order.

An order patterned after Isard herself.

Her mind remembered the times on Bastion, when the Regent and his cohorts fueled again their desires for their galactic manifest destiny. She smiled at the rhetoric that spilled from the Office of the Regent…

..his words of revenge.. of fallen glory… of returning to a galaxy that was destined to be under order once more..

Unfortuanately, Intel was already out there… had already gotten there first.

Her eyes gleamed with wicked delight as she remembered their tentacles tightening. The Military was growing powerful, growing strong… growing arrogant.

To think the Empire would be patterned after them! Them! Again!

Intel’s subtle insertion between TNO’s Military Command and the Office of the Regent was a stroke of brilliance.

Isolate and terminate... words every Intel agent in the galaxy knew by heart.

In the months that followed the successful insertions, Intel practically ran the Empire. From her desk issued forth doctrine and policies that would shape Imperial minds of the future and from her desk issued forth commands designed to keep the every growing power of the military in the dark.

But no more.. Her eyes hardened (her red eye almost looking enflamed) and her personal guards following her slowed a bit sensing her change in mood. At whim she might turn and execute one of them for the errors of those in her mind, unreachable now..

but not forever…

She came to a rather obscure metal door and a guard opened it for her. She took a deep breathe and walked in, calming herself.. preparing herself for her performance.

Where did it all go wrong?

When did it all go wrong?

As she passed into the shadow of the room, her mind furiously scrolled through mental notes, pieces of conversations, and agent observations. For they were her eyes and ears.

The shift in power to Imperial Intelligence lasted for a determinate amount of time. Of that she was sure. There would be indicators, the suggest (if not outright) shout the shift in power.

When, when, when!

And that’s when it hit her with the full force of a KDY Advanced Cannon. She stopped at a desk full of of parts, machinery and equipment.

The desk’s inhabitant was one Gormul Hyfe.

Yaga Minor Campaign – Garqi Assault… aboard the Star Destroyer Victory

..the past…

(taken from the roleplay: Emminate Truth)

He turned to the navigation control officers and ordered, "Helm, come about and bring us into a high orbit of Yaga Minor. Keep us away from the hostilities."

"Weapons, General?"

Simon smiled, "Shields only..but keep our defense posture active. There are, after all, hostilities nearby."

..and then, as an afterthought, "Get me the Commander of that fleet. I want an answer for this destabilizing aggression."

“Alec Antilles is moving onward to Garqi.” Captain Chandler said rather reluctantly. He had expected to really ream the Rogue Empire apart at the seams.

Already the body politic on Bastion were clammering for war.

Alec’s report will not be accepted agreeably by TNO Command., Captain Chandler said as much to Kaine in his quarters.

Kaine had been going on about an Admiral Joe Schmoe and his resilience as certain members of TNO Command seemed to take a perverse pleasure in eliminating the man from the galaxy.

“What did the man do to draw such hatred?” Kaine mused quietly when Chandler could contain himself no longer.

“General! We have followed you for years! Years and never has the 256th ever backed out of a fight. Never!” The Captain narrowed his eyes.

“So why now?”

General Kaine’s eyes seemed to emit fatigue as his hand lazily moved to a hidden button which immediately drowned the room in static.

Chandler’s expression grew wary. What was going on?

“Chandler. No one regrets the position that we were forced to take more than I. I saw the disappointment in the Admiral Antilles’ eyes when I ordered him to move on.”

Kaine slammed a hand on the top of the desk he was seated behind. “Dammit. The order came from the Regent! The Regent, Captain and any dissent against him results in death!”

“Couldn’t the Military protest on strategic grounds? Surely the Regent will come to reason and see…”

“No Chandler! You do not understand. No one sees the Regent. One needs a signed note from God to gain entrance into his antechamber and even then, ONLY if that note were initialed off by Isard!”

Simon breathed out in quiet frustration. “Something is going on. Something insidious and I mean to find out what!”

“General. Imperial Intelligence is powerful. Going up against them, even privately could mean…. I mean.. Dammit General. People have disappeared.”

“Which is why we must be circumspective about it. We must be ambiguous with a situation that should be dealt with clearly, decisively and with haste.”

Kaine turned up to Chandler. “Therefore, Fearsons and his TRE bandits are the least of our problems.”

“But General. We do not yet yield enough power in the Empire to go up against the “Children of Isard”. Hell, Simon, we might be skirting treason.”

“It could definitely be painted so.” Agreed Kaine. “Therefore, we must be careful. The Regent no longer runs the Empire right now. Don’t ask me how I know, call it a hunch.. but if Isard has her way before the Military Command gains momentum in the Imperium, we are finished.”

Kaine’s eyes narrowed, “and we did not fight through the hellish Sotel to come back to witness the final days of the Empire.”

Chandler sat down on Kaine’s Spartan bed. “So what’s our move, General?”

A slight grin came from Simon, making him very much to Chandler like the young Colonel that led the 256th through the deserts of Sotel.

“We have Ciscero’s transmission. What is he doing here? Perhaps finding this out will insert us into a loop that will eventually give us the big picture that Intel is creating.”

“Grand Admiral Zell will give you support. Sith knows that he’s spoken vehemently against the policies of the Regent.”

“But for how long, Chandler. How long? Perhaps Imperial Intelligence will silence him as well. No. I need more control over my fleet. I need power and the influence to combat future policies from behind the scenes all the while aiding the Military Command to regain it’s glory… I need… I just need time.”

“We may not have it, Sir.”

****

Director Isard watched the man named Gormul straighten up as he realized himself before one of the most powerful people of the Empire. Her cold blue eye seemed to stare right through the master of explosives and tech.

“Agent Hyfe.” She started with a slight inflection on his last name, as if the mere mention drew her lips in amusement.

“I need you to go to Coruscant. I want to know what Agent Ciscero is up too. He seems to have forgotten to check in.” Her amusement left her.

“Make contact, gather intel and report it to me personally. If I do not like what I read, I will declare our resourceful agent “beyond salvage” and your mission then will be to terminate him.”

Isard dropped a data card on his desk. “There are the account numbers to some local financial institutions that will furnish you with enough credits to complete the mission. Arrive by commercial transport and do not draw attention to yourself. The report will have to be transmitted to me on a special code that is included on the data card. As of now, Coruscant is not allowing transports to leave.. some terrorist activity going on and such.”

Her red eye leveled at the agent. “Do not fail me, Hyfe.”

As she left the agent’s nearly hidden office, she felt the presence of her guards drifting and she snapped her fingers making them walk faster.

She was realizing an enemy. A hazy distortion before that was solidifying into the form of General Kaine.

However, Kaine was not on Muunilist, his port. In fact, neither was that @#%$ he saw infrequently.. Arliss?

His fleet was missing and as usual, the Military Command listed it his current operation under a black shield. Information blackout seemed to be Kaine’s Modus Operandi.

It was time to find out what operation.

She became lost in thought..

After the Gree Campaign – Unknown Regions – Planet Arcadia

The Galactus had finished the operation and Ciscero stood on the bridge, his mind a whirl. The implications were astounding.

Kaine wasn’t simply a nuisance… a “growing” force in the Military Command. He embodied the Military Command. He was the Military. Isard misjudged this former Colonel.

It was brilliant. Kaine had passed up promotion after promotion, remaining fixed on his goal as other officers became politicians and therefore pawns in the hands of the master manipulator Ysanne.

As her eyes remained fixed on the growing power of Daemon Hyfe, as she watched this Grand Admiral rise in the limelight, Kaine remained obscured…. In the shadows where he was allowed total freedom of action.

And how he made use of it!

His hands trembled slightly. Labyrinthine was already being perverted to his use. Palpatine’s Last Gamble becoming Kaine’s sword.

The words spoken before revealing flashes of insight into areas that were hazy.

The chair swivelled slightly to the man standing near the door. "Until now. Tell me, Ciscero, where did you first learn of Siennar?"

The Intelligence Operative thought a moment before answering. "Yaga Minor facility. I was there before the Rogue Empire took the world."

Kaine's eyes flashed. "And the facility?"

"Destroyed. The archives were transferred at Isard's command to an undisclosed location. Tell me, General, where did you hear of it?"

Kaine smiled slightly, his eyes fully appreciating the dancing of light playing on Arcadia's atmosphere.

Ciscero could slap himself! Yaga Minor! Of Course! That was why the Victory stayed in orbit so long while TRE raped the planet.

That was when Kaine became aware of Isard’s hunger for power! When she had the attack called off for fear that such an attack would intefere with my mission to remove any and all information from the Intelligence Facility there.

But the facility was destroyed!

How did they get copies of the data? How could they--- NO!

Ciscero turned to a seated Kaine. “When I slept in my quarters aboard the Victory after you picked me up, you searched for and found the data crystal and copied it.

Kaine smiled, seeming to know what he was talking about. “You noticed nothing because we were the dumb military.. We were just your ride so how could we know anything..

Kaine’s chuckle sounded somewhat harsh. “You were right Ciscero. Isard is a fool.”

The Galactus’ command chair swiveled around and Ciscero knew what was coming.

I have to make a choice now or I am dead.

He closed his eyes.

Checkmate.

A shadow of a smile crept across Kaine’s lips.

"So... General. According to your report, you used military assets for your own purposes. Purposes that could be construed by some as treason." The Internal Affairs officer leading the Intelligence Committee began.

A General sat in front of the table of three, of the Committee being none other than Ysanne Isard [who had incidentally came into the spartan room rather late], and his eyes registered confusion.

"How?" he simply asked.

*Where does the military get these idiots heads to lead our armed forces?* Isard thought scornfully.

The Internal Affairs Officer made a show of sighing, which indicated the Committee's patience was waning.

"By going through unofficial channels you circumvent the very protocols designed to protect the Empire. By removing your fleet from Muunilist, you left a very vital part of the Empire without adequate support."

"Sir, the Sentinel Division is not a defending fleet. Brass Protectorate is.."

"DON'T TELL US OUR BUSINESS BOY!" the third Committee member interrupted. "What the military designates a fleet is immaterial! The fact remains, you weakened an Imperial world without so much as a whisper!"

"The Military Command.."

"TO US, BOY! TO US!" The Military is sometimes hampered by the fact that they do not have the whole plcture. Imperial Intelligence needs to know what assets there are to be used against threats that the Military may not be aware of... "

Isard had heard enough. This idiot was no threat. In fact, he may be the sacrificial lamb she'd need to..

..and that's when her eyes scanned the report Kaine had made.

"You were hunting for a particular Chiss? Something to do with a planet you were sent to as a child?"

Kaine nodded.

"And from this planet?"

"Arcadia.. ma'am"

"..Arcadia, you found references to Freughte and attacked it? A Chiss world?"

"It was a pirate world ma'am. Not the bulk of the Chiss Hegemony."

Isard waived her hand as if pushing aside the General's remarks.

"We have Chiss under our control?" she said, eyeing the General.

*To think, Chiss! The New Republic seemed to be advancing in that general direction, Emperor Fearson's was reported to have Chiss blood in him...

What a wealth of information that could be gathered..*

"The pirates then led me to Onyx, a Republic held world (formerly of the New Alliance) which led me to Asation and then to Gree."

"Quite an accomplishment then.." Isard muttered realizing that this dolt would be the golden boy of the Military right now.

"They..were there.."

Isard looked at Kaine's innocent face and sighed. "How utterly inspiring you are.." she said dryly.

"Go." she said, much to the outcry of the other Committee members..

"You are no threat.."

She never saw Kaine's faint smile as he walked out of the room...

*

"Read the report again.." an analyst entreated as Isard glanced at the old, nearly forgotten document.

She read it again with what seemed like the thousandth time and still she could fine to error to the report.

In fact, she said so.

"There is no error...In fact, it is very enlightening. Given the minutes of the Committee meeting held with the General after his return, I must qualify that statement one more time.. It's extremely enlightening."

"Veros, I don't have the time to..."

"Kaine's Fleet never assaulted Freughte." the analyst interrupted.

Isard narrowed her eyes. "What?"

"If you'll note: it is clearly Kaine's operation, Kaine's fleet movements but he doesn't actually state that his fleet assaulted Freughte. It let's the reader assume.."

"What's your point, Veros?"

"Here's another report I came across from a Telan Desaria. It details the conquest of Freughte by his division."

The Director of Intelligence felt her mind at work.. "If Telan took Freughte, then that only mean't that Kaine's fleet was assaulting the Gree.."

Her eyes widened.."But the connection, of Freughte to Onyx to Asation would be false. Kaine would have assaulted the Gree worlds first!

His goal...what was his goal? What value do they have?"

Her lips formed a grim smile.

"The hypergate system..." she whispered.

Turning to the Analyst, "Find me good agents and a fast ship. I need to reach Asation quickly... Quickly!"

The information analyst hurried off.

[Secret yperspace Route to Asation - Unknown Regions]

"I WANT THAT BLACK LISTING LIFTED ON GENERAL KAINE'S ACTIVITIES! NOW!" shouted Isard at the holographic projection of the liason officer who detailed communication between Fleet Command (located on Bastion) and Imperial Intelligence (located on Krake's Planet).

The man, whose office was on Muunilist, spread his hands in dismay and shrugged. "I am sorry, Director Isard. The Black Listing authorization comes from the highest level."

"You have been saying that for the past half hour!"

"And the passage of time does nothing to change the fact, Ma'am." his reply came quickly.

Ysanne's eyes narrowed, the different colors of her irises creating an erie effect that was lost in a holographic communication relay.

This was just another example of her waning power... her failing stature. Such examples were becoming less and less subtle.

As if the noose were tightening around her slowly.

Even from this pup1

Her eyes shot daggers at the man, though the projection seemed unaffected.

Enjoy it while you can pup. Enjoy it for you will die!

She tried a different tactic.

"I have my authority from Admiral..."

"Not high enough clearance, Director." interrupted the officer, looking to something outside the range of the holographic communications scanners.

"The subject in question is simply a General!" Isard's indignation flared up once more.

"But the authority who enacted the Black Listing of his Operations isn't."

"Not even two Grand Admirals have the combined authority to prevent a Black List Removal Request, from Intelligence no less, from being carried out if sponsored by a person holding an Admiral's rank."

"Obviously then, it wasn't a Grand Admiral or Admirals if you prefer who authorized the Listing in the first place."

This man is impossible!

She leaned forward.

"Who authorized the Black List of General Kaine's current operations?"

The hologram remained silent for a brief second and then answered.

"The authorization comes from..

... Regent Exceron."

And the hologram suddenly flickered out.

Ysanne Isard sat there stunned. The other shoe had dropped.

So the military has him!

There was only one way the TNO Military Command could ever know of where Intel kept the Regent.

Ysanne leaned back and started playing the recording of the inauguration speech of the new Governor of Coruscant.

One way indeed..

***

The Past...

"You can't be serious General!" Ciscero asked incredulously. "The exposure alone.."

"No one knows you, Ciscero." Kaine interrupted softly. "You Intel agents are trained to blend...disappear...evade notice.."

"Intel does know me. The moment... The moment I become visible, I am Beyond Salvage."

"Isard won't bother you." Simon said with conviction.

"Easy for you to say. Harder to make it fact." Ciscero shot back.

"Then you will help me make it fact."

Ciscero eyed the General, sensing a trap. "How?"

Simon leaned forward and grinned enigmatically. "Tell me where Intel is holding Darth Exceron."

The surprise on Ciscero's face gave him away.

He narrowed his eyes at the black garbed, black gloved, rather quiet and unassuming Imperial General seated before him. A man in his thirties. of a very sublte disposition..almost, quite frankly, a bore.

No one notices him. He's not flamboyant, he's not 'colorful', he's not forceful.. he doesn't threaten..

His eyes fell on the necklace that he wore sometimes. A necklace of his past... made out of the skulls of the tinies creatures he'd ever seen, though reported to be extremely vicious.

Creatures of his past..

Kaine's eyes seemed to be intently studying the Intel agent...and Ciscero felt something he hadn't felt in a good long while.

Fear.

Asation – Satikan City

Isard settled back into her chair giving a self satisfied smile. Timed with her arrival on the enigmatic world of Asation, part of her mind felt that she had wasted a trip.

All her worrying was for naught. Well, not all for the Military Command did possess the Regent. Of that she was quite sure and there would be backlashes from it.

But since the Military had yet to install Darth Exceron back publicly, one could only imagine the possibilities as the Military played for power with in the Empire.

But such games ultimately worried her not. She had scores of politicians in her pocket so any move, politically would be checked by her.

She mentally laughed at herself at her own foolish thinking. How could she. SHE think that a two-bit General was her match?

The pieces were there for some very brilliant maneuvering but, with what had just been revealed by her Military contact, such was not the case.

The Black Listing had been finally lifted and Intelligence Director Isard had seen the plans of General Kaine.

He was after a world that was once staunchly loyal to the Empire.

Corulag

Who would have guessed?

The tactical advantages were very clear to Isard. With the Vinda Corporation sitting along two trade routes, one route going deep into the heart of the Corporate Sector, Ralltiir needed reinforcement more than ever.

With Ralltiir supported by Corulag, the Empire stood to control most of the Shell.

Or the most important parts, at least..

With Corulag taken, that gave the Empire exclusive use of also yet another lessor known trade route.

A route that took went from the Shell into the Mid Rim.

The possibilities formulated in her mind centering on the fact that the Military Command would be deep into planning their next sorte in the galaxy leaving Imperial Intelligence free to solidify their power within the Empire.

It was by masterful design that Isard found hard to ignore that Intelligence found itself so well placed.. so well entrenched.

Having set foot upon Asation, the rather palid and dusty area began to sting her eyes. The planet was designed by the Empire to be a military depot of sorts and second port to Kaine’s Command.

The 256th had already departed the system well before she got there but that did not stop Isard from seeing first hand the operation that Kaine had brought into the grasp of the Empire.

The massive gates of the Portal System stood there silent as defense machines, well armed soldiers and the feared Spartans guarded the seemingly desolate area with extreme vigilance.

So extreme that Isard was taken aback.

All this for Corulag?

And her mind suddenly felt unease.
