Two Vanguard Class Nebulon Ghost, a ship design by Sienar Fleet Systems, slipped silently through hyperspace, its advanced hyper drive engines propelling the ships a respectable one unit past the speed of light. Extended periods of hyperspace strained a person’s mind. Luckily for the personnel of the 1,500-meter ships, they would only be in hyperspace less than a day; but they would be staying at their destination, hopefully, for quite a long time.
Starting from the Duro waypoint, the two Naboo Sith Order Defense Department ships traveled along military hyper lanes, just off a major trade route. A few days earlier, a pair of Dominator Class Star Destroyers took the same route to an extraction point, about a day’s real space journey away from the actual target.
The Dominators employed a tactic perfected by Grand Admiral Thrawn during his romp through the galaxy. They powered up their gravity wells and waited for the Vanguards, which had a course set for Coruscant. Passing through the sphere of influence the Dominators controlled the Vanguards were plucked from hyperspace by the Dominators.
Communications between the four ships were held, and then the Vanguards shunted almost all power to the engines and began their real space journey to the space station. The Dominators remained in their deep-space place, waiting for the time when their use would be needed again.
Concealed from the outside world by thick sheets of durasteel, Special Operations Group Troopers sat locked inside a YT-5700 transport. They all wore black, covert-ops uniforms and held their Blaster rifles close to their chests. None spoke; and there were no pre-mission rituals. It was just another mission to the SOGs.
For the past three hours, the Vanguard Cruisers had cruised through real space on an automated course, with their 5 Seniar Advanced Cap3 Cloaking Modules activated. An Aaron Astrin Operation’s navigating computer carefully plotted the two capital ships course. The crew of the Vanguards relied on this; they could not do anything with the cloak activated.
The SOGs and crewmen alike went through their mission scenarios a hundred times over. For the mission to be successful, everything had to be completed like clockwork.
Across the two Vanguards, a siren blared. A minute later, the cloaking devices on the Vanguards were dropped for a brief five seconds, at which point all the drop ships on the Vanguards deployed.
It was odd, for the pilots of the transports at least, to see the mammoth ships just disappear in space all of a sudden. They had only been uncloaked for brief seconds and had little chance of being identified. The transports would only be visible for half a minute before being engulfed by the target acquisition.
The ships landed on the space station, Centerpoint. Like clockwork, they began their tasks. Inside the transports, in addition to the troops necessary to run a space station, a Gencore Level II shield generator, a Kuat Yard Advance Turbolaser and two Planetary ION Cannons were stored. Quickly, engineers retrieved the equipment and began hooking it up to Centerpoint’s archaic systems.
Meanwhile, the SOGs took up positions all around the space station. Out to one side, they watched Tralus spin. Out to the other side, Talus, the New Republic held planet could be seen.
The waiting game began for the occupants of Centerpoint.
A major attack fleet emerged from hyperspace around Centerpoint Station, now having its shield generator and basic weapons operational. As the attack fleet emerged, the two Vanguards uncloaked for the first time in a day, signaling that the attack fleet had found the right place.
The fleet was from the Naboo Sith Order. They had jumped directly to Centerpoint from Duro, bypassing the Dominator Class Star Destroyers, which had returned to a TNSO planet for defensive measures. At the head of the Naboo Sith Order fleet was the Allegiance Class Super Star Destroyer Champion. At its helm, Commander Rusty Elderberry controlled the whole Naboo Sith Order offensive.
