Takeover Of Ruan
Now where is that bloody bartender?
Rac sat in the bloody top waiting for his contact of Metellos in the bar; he had placed few guards on the doors for the meeting and checked the room, if someone tried to pick up his talks. Rac took out a bottle of yardle and poured some into a small glass, he looked around for Jegg who was nowhere to be found. He had already sent few FK droids that were under testing to look for him in the building and to retrieve him to the bar where he was usually stationed. Rac shook his head and poured the yardle in his mouth, he slightly closed his eyes because of the strong taste of the drink. He had lately been busy than ever and more work was well on the way, the new funds that he had received from and because of the Union allowed him to bring new products faster. Everything began to be bigger, faster and more, but everything had it’s price like the stress that he was going trough. He had a unpleasant encounter with some force users that was surely an experience of a life time and never wanted to get involved with the Jedi again.
Their annoying and on top of things bad for business....those bloody hypocrites who think that they can save the galaxy or the others who think that they can control it...
No one could save or conquer the whole galaxy without a terrible price, there were just too many ideals and sides so in the end no one would win, but Rac wasn’t really an idealist. He sure as hell liked money and good life, but he was ready to side with the empire in some matter and with some others in some matters, but truly he supported the cause of the Union in the end. Rac had never thought of it clearly, but now the question hit him.
What was the goal of The Union?
Power?
Most likely because they all had money enough coming in, they could take planets that they wanted when they wanted, but they of course had to be independent and not under any other faction control. Was power really what Rac had wanted? He had born in poor circumstances and needed money dreaming of a company so that he wouldn’t have to worry about his future because he would retire one day as an old rich bastard. He never really sought power, but now that he looked at the sky of Metellos seeing the Sentenced circling the orbit he realised something. He really had liked the feeling, he liked power and the good feeling it brought along with it. He was already seeing the Union rise as a great power in the galaxy, but he was day dreaming for now. That could be possible one day and he began to understand the chairman’s vision finally, the best thing was that they were a secret and they could grow in peace as companies, but no one would never know the plot underneath.
Perhaps money was now only a tool and power was an ambition that could be gained with money....
Suddenly Rac was pulled out of his thoughts as he heard the sound his droids approaching and a faint sound of someone’s shoes among the racket that the droids created. The two droids entered the room carrying probably drunk or unconscious Jegg either way Rac cursed and got off his chair on to the table after the droids had placed him on the bar counter. The chiss hair was all messed up and seemed to mumble something, but Rac could smell booze a mile away from him. Rac sighed slightly and took a bottle of corellian ale pouring it on Jegg`s head who began mumbling louder, Rac poured the hole bottle on his especially on his hair. Rac cursed and got back in his chair, he ordered the droid to hit Jegg`s head against the bar counter without making any greater damage. Jegg seemed to finally wake up and yakked at his own smell as Rac floated above him as he tried to stumble up.
"Now I never believed you to fall to drinking since you are the bartender of the bar... let me guess some special occasion or you just fell for some pretty lady in the bar that in the end of the night stole all your money?"
Jegg mumbled again and shook his head holding it.
"Just too much drinking...and then I went to my apartment where you droids broke the door before dragging me here.."
Rac smiled as he looked at droids quickly.
"That I can smell and than you for the information that you gave me... I’ll have to get my people to program them to get the doors open quietly because then they wouldn’t be really assassin droids, if they were to kill someone silently in the night?"
Jegg let out a slight laugh at Rac`s comment, but returned to his head ache soon. Rac sighed again and poured another glass of yardle taking it down to calm him down because he felt like loosing his temper. Rac continued with a calm and dry voice with a friendly smile on his face.
“And I presume you have the information and reports I requested of you? I haven’t really heard of you since the last month and your reports have been late not to forget they have terrible mistakes… I have more eyes here than you think and I am not happy, if my number one source decides to go partying like a madman and then forget his reports…or should I say my number two source?”
Jegg raised his head slightly terrified.
“No… I am your number on source… please Rac… you know I need the money and I am your best bartender for god sakes…”
Rac drummed the table with his fingers.
“If you don’t scarp up by the end of the month and if the report is late again your salary will be going down so think about it, but please get rid of drinking and now most of all you should wash yourself. Getting to the point why I am here… where is the report for this month?”
Jegg crawled on the counter and opened a small safe on it behind the desk; he gave Rac the report and stumbled onto the other side as Rac looked at the report.
“Does this have everything about Ruan? Because I will need that information’s soon and I need the direly, if this business trip is going to work well and these trips are never allowed to go wrong all tough there is no danger from the to one’s I make business with, but if I lose there will be severe consequences for my trade….”
Jegg nodded still dizzy from the booze and Rac`s hard interrogation to clear his head.
“Yea…Yea…what ever, but now please just leave and let me rest these aches away….”
Rac turned around and floated away as he ordered the droids to follow him and get aboard the shuttle, he floated aboard and sat in the back next to the droids, Rac began inserting the files he received on his personal computer and smiled as he finally began looking them trough properly. The planet of Ruan was once a big buyer of his, but lately they had been buying products from the newly named Belgardi Universal and then the Tagge Company. There was competition between these three companies all tough they all were part of the Union and Rac wasn’t going to give away a market to the others so he acted. It was nothing personal or something against the Union, but just strict business and Rac was going to pull off just some credits to his own pocket besides in the end that money would go to the Union in the end one way or another so they all got richer. Rac had once signed a certain contract from Ruan, but that was when Rac was a small player and lately they had dared to break the contract of buying their weapons exclusively from The Fegal Companies. The change came with their new government along the revolution that dropped religion of the main power and they saw what their religious predecessors wrote was no value to them now or the people of Ruan. Rac could now engage them at a full frontal blockade for breaking the contract and no one would deny his right’s for the blockade all tough Rac would keep it as a peaceful once. Bombing wasn’t the way he would take a planet this time, but aggressive diplomacy all tough his approach might seem quite peaceful at first. The shuttle rose up to the skies and flied towards the Sentenced, which was a white wedge when look from down below and the newest symbol of power on the Fegal Companies planet’s. Its sister ship, the Khepri was currently along a huge delivery heading towards the hutt space where the imperials didn’t have control yet. The shuttle smoothly slides in the hangar and Rac leaves the shuttle with the droids following him.
Rac entered the elevator and to his anger it made the same thing that happened on Baal, Rac left the elevator cursing for his own mechanics and would talk about those damn elevators. He usually wasn’t used to rough rides and dangers as he had about 7 years ago as a smuggler when he had to escape the imperials with his cargo. The imperial’s never caught him and for that he was thankful since he wouldn’t have such a good reputation these days, if the whole galaxy knew him to have been a smuggler. Rac sort of missed those days, but now he had another path before him and that was more ambitious path than a smugglers life when he had merely tried to get some food for himself. Rac flew to the cockpit where bridge personnel greeted him and there were very few of them, they were actually mercenaries of the Union that served the Union and Rac had asked for some faithful people for his ship besides droids that were able to act like officers not tools. The necrotroopers would have not been capable of being officers besides the Union would have not let him have any of them and they would have gotten too much attention. As the imperials grew along with the others they would never see the Union in shadows, waiting and growing for something, which was even unknown to Rac.
Was galactic domination what Estro was after with the Union or just power?
Rac should have a conversation with him about this matter, but not in an offensive way and Rac felt that he needed to know more as he was a member of the committee all tough he felt the committee to be puppets. Puppets with value, a cover and planets, but would he one day throw these away and take control himself. Rac almost wanted to slap himself for such thoughts, but felt really bothered now that such thought came to his mind. Rac sat landed his chair onto a small place made for it and turned the droids off to rest, he looked at what he had created and was thinking, if all his creation s would be taken by the Union and his life work thrown away.
Nah… I am just getting paranoid and nervous that’s all…
Being paranoid could be a good thing, if it was kept within limits, but when you suspected every person around you and didn’t dare to speak about business in the fear that someone outsider might hear. But if kept within limits it could actually reveal some traitors among his people all tough there was one for granted as a traitor already, Commander Lucius Sedra and perhaps some of his closest friends in the company. Rac calmed as the ships took formation, the star destroyer was in the middle and around it were Baal and 6 Talon carriers, behind came some frigates ready to support them. Rac doubted that the people of Ruan would take aggressive actions unless they were fools, but now he was threatening their very independence openly in an unspeakable way and he would have to convince them to send their president to negotiate. Getting their leaders in his hands was the key of this plan and it could be done either violently or peacefully, but one way or the other the blockade would be lifted off and leave Ruan in the hands of The Fegal Companies. Rac wondered what his dear Union friends would say about stealing the market and the governments contracts wouldn’t really concern Rac because there would be no government after today on Ruan. The ship formation disappeared to hyperspace and was headed towards the planet of Ruan, which was quite close to Corusant like Metellos so that must be making the imperials slightly nervous, but Rac had convinced some of their messengers that Rac would never attack the imperials and he was a simple business man…
As always this would be a profitable day….
