--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
History....
Five years ago, the Yuuzhan Vong invaded the planet of Capricia. Their attack was devestating in that Capricia lost it's fleet, it's government, and it's chance at victory. In that moment of dispair, with nothing left to gain and everything to lose, suddenly the people of Capricia were given to monumentous acts of heroism, bravery, courage as well as a fanatical recklessness. Everything that they had was thrown against the Yuuzhan Vong and their Chazrach warriors... men, women and yes, even children. The savagry of the Capricians surprised the Yuuzhan Vong Master Shaper, Tallien Yzan, into reevaluating their conquest of the planet and the birth of an idea begins.
As a result, the invaders, quite inexplicably to the Caprician mind, left. With a fifth of the entire planet's population dead and everything in shambles, the individual Houses strived for positions of power plunging the planet into a Civil War that lasted for another two years. The Clans left Capricia during this time (known as the Exodus) to reorganize and strengthen...away from the conflict. Following the Civil War, the Clans returned to claim their rightful place and position in Capricia, as it's shapers. Since then, the planet has existed in a state of military buildup and martial law... always paranoid..always worried...always with the fear that the invaders may return.
They have.
The story so far....
Master Shaper Tallien Yzan had finally achieved what he wanted. The last of the prisoners from the first invasion had been sacrificed in the forests of Endor. Now, it was time to shape Capricians toward the truth..their truth. In order for that to happen, though, the Capricians would have to be dominated. The Warmaster granted his plan a small invasion force that gathered in the outmarches (area of space outside the last planetary orbit of the system). Methodically, they began to shut the Capricians off from the outside galaxy, blockading the major commerce lanes into the system.
Capricia immediately mobilized, the Regent reluctant to send the fleet to meet the gathering invasion force. During the first invasion, the Yuuzhan Vong had lured the fleet away allowing them to gain a foothold on Capricia. The Regent vowed not to let that happen again. A warning signal was sent as well as a call to arms. Tyscio Korban, on Naboo, received the recall and fulfilled a promise to Leia Organa Solo by illiciting her aide. She accepted with some trepidation, realizing that the action coming may be like nothing she has ever faced. Her course and loyalties, however, remain true which is, no doubt, a source of strength for Tyscio Korban, a person with no real experience in the kind of war that has come.
Herridian Wye, out on an expedition searching for the lost Clan of Ferendi on Mandalore has not responded to the recall which has proved a source of worry for his family, most notably his son, Skyler.
Vinda Corporation finds its ships under massive attacks as they unknowingly travel into the Yuuzhan Vong blockade. On Bonadan, a worried Seth Vinda mobilizes his forces to investigate his trusted aide, Achinta Vega ready at the helm.
Keeping track of a VC convoy, Regional Intelligence Committee agent Sully Tigereye intercepts the warning signal from Capricia and immediately recognizes the threat these invaders pose (his home having been attacked by the Vong before). Regent Tenloss of the Imperial Republic realizes the same danger to the sector’s overall stability and sends a Super Star Destroyer to aide, under the comand of Adalric Cronus. Sully accompanies the ship as an advisor.
Whispers of intervention by The Sith Brotherhood come on the heels of the VC mobilization as the story of the Yuuzhan Vong Chang is told.
Capricia has lived under the martial command of the Regent and the Clans for the past two years. The maneuvering of the House Parliament politicians’ to question the militarization of Caprician society crumbles as the planet goes on high alert and the real threat of their old enemy is realized. Jorrum Gerrard, House Parliament Member, upon finding his stance suddenly dashed to pieces recovers and takes swift action in a bold sweeping plan to garner small amounts of aid from the New Republic and perhaps set the seeds for the eventual Caprician application for New Republic membership.
In the midst of the preparations and plans, the Yuuzhan Vong force attacks the forgotten mining colony of Minos, the last planet in the Carpician System. The planet falls completely without trouble and the Yuuzhan Vong turn inward.
The realization is evident...that Capricia is not only responsible for itself but for the forgotten colonies that are now potential targets. The defensive strategies of the the Regent must be reevaluated and action taken quickly...before more Capricians fall under the Shadow of the Invaders.

Leia walked silently alongside Tyscio Korban as they followed their guide. For Leia, it was an unknown destination. She was unsure of Tyscio's own thoughts. She studied the uniform of the person leading them off to their unknown future. He wore a different uniform than the others that she had seen. It seemed to somehow announce that he was a member of some sort of different group, counsel maybe.
She recalled that she had heard Tyscio speak of the different... oh, what was is.... clans? Yes. Clans, of Capricia. And he was a member of one. Did this have to do with these odd marked uniforms? She decided to voice her thoughts.
"I suppose now that I am here I should learn a bit more about the Caprician lifestyle, or at least maybe what you can tell me for now. These... clans, I've heard them mentioned several times now. What function do they serve here, do they dictate the roles of certain people?"

Leia's Blindness
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tyscio smiled at the question. "Too many Gomorran's and Tyscio's to suite you?"
His gaze turned forward as he and Leia walked in the middle of two columns of Gomorran Clan soldiers. He started to answer, his mind going back to the lessons taught in Caprician schools.
He grinned at some of the memories it evoked.
"I was born Mikhail Korban. 'Korban' is my family name, my 'house' name. On Capricia, there are two types of families: the Noble House and the Minor House. The two classifications, in ancient times, actually meant what they say: Nobility and Commoner which was a source of much anguish. But now the designations are simply traditional now. Any family branching off from a Noble House, becomes (by extension) a Noble House as well. The same is true of Minor Houses. Everyone on Capricia is part of a "House" or Family.
Over a thousand years ago, the only thing that existed were the Houses, divided into feudal states. Family feuds were common and whole families were wiped out from small the wars that would plague them.
Until one man, from an unknown family, saw these conditions and said, "No". He knew that, in order to enact change, their Will would need to be strong."
Tyscio paused, amused at how their escort listened while giving the appearance that they were not.
"This is where the Caprician belief in self reliance is derived. Anyway, to make a long story short, this man united one hundred houses under one banner by himself, which was unheard of during that time. These one hundred families became is "favorites", became his army and eventually they took most of the planet over, effectively ending all the petty feudal/family fights and pretty much forced the entire planet to unite.
Those one hundred houses soon took on the distinction of "Clan" rather than simply Noble or Minor House because they were the favorites, the first, so theirs was the responsibility of governing.
The man that started it all became the first Clannus Prime which means "first among Clans".
Over the generations, the original family members of the Clans died out and the government soon began to ossify. With traditions becoming more rigid...such as chosing only the familial members of the Clans to lead..even if they weren't good at leading, something needed to be done.
So the .. I think it was the fifteenth Clannus Prime instituted a change so that the Clan names would no longer identify a particular family but rather a responsibility or position in the government. So, there were now one hundred Clans, their membership (meaning the ability to help govern the planet) now opened to both Noble and Minor houses.
This was a brilliant move in that it removed the dividing wall between the Clans and the Houses. The houses no longer resented the ruling family clans because they were now nonexistent. With their own children able to now become Clan members, basically workers for the State, the Houses had no choice but to support the government.
Basically, now, any service that the government provids is a responsibility of some Clan.
Every child that wishes to enter government service (and believe me the government compensates greatly for their offer of service), they take a series of placement tests...basically to determine what duty the child would be useful at. We call it the Rite of Passage.
After my Rite, Tyscio Clan was open to me and I accepted.
Therefore, according to custom, the Clan name supercedes our own birth name and is followed by our family name. Hence, Mikhail Korban became, Tyscio Korban. That is why you will find people that seem to have the same first name."
"..because they belong to the same Clan." Leia finished.
"Exactly!"
He held up a finger as Leia was going to ask something else. "Usually, if two people of the same Clan are talking to each other, their birth name or their family name is then used."
He grinned as Leia closed her mouth, obviously her question being answered.
"So, if you were Leia Organa, and you joined Tyscio Clan, you would then be Tyscio Organa.... Organa being your family name. Between us, though, I would call you Leia.
Sometimes, when the family name is long, a shortened form would be used. Gomorran's real family name is Kayalous but that is a mouthful so it was shortened to Kay."
He paused as the soldiers rounded a corner and Tyscio could hear the sounds of computers, droids, and conversations.
"The last invasion, though, all but wiped out the Clans. All government agencies were called to fight the war so the majority of battle casualties were Clans. Once the fighting was done, with the Clans disorganized and few, the individual Houses suddenly found themselves elevated in the vacuum and Civil War broke out.
The Clans left Capricia to reorganize, rebuild and generally were tired of war.
As it stands there are only seven Clans doing the responsibilities of what was once one hundred. Borianus who's responsibility is Capricia's agricultural developement, Mescian who takes care of Capricia's social institutions, Herridian Clan, which is education, Leantre who's responsibility is the defense of the planet, Scipio Clan which is an extension of the education and military Clans as well as our diplomats. Almost like a department of State of sorts. Tyscio and Gomorran are military Clans. The old Clannus Prime decided to have two Clans with this responsibility so that no one Clan would feel suddenly stronger than the others. We..uhh.. sort of kept that tradition.
I heard that Herridian Clan found evidence that Clan Ferendi might be out there somewhere having also fled during the Civil War. If fact, an effort has been made to follow up that lead but I never heard back as to the results."
He looked at Leia and grinned, knowing that it was a lot to absorb. "Have I totally confused you now?"

They walked down a hall, their shoes echoing in the corridor. As Leia thought about Tyscio's words, he turned to her in sudden curiousity.

"I don't suppose I'm completely confused yet, but I'm sure I soon shall be"
Leia grew quiet as she mulled over the hoard of new information she had just absobed, but was surprised when out of the blue Tyscio asked her a question.
"What's it like to be a Jedi?"
Leia was silent, and as Tyscio watched her, he probably had to look twice to see if she hadn't indeed let a downcast expression take over her face. She in fact had, though it wasn't but a faint one.
"It's... hard. A difficult life. Always walking the fine line between lightness and dark. But for many the life is a fulfilling one, those whom are devoted and caring. Right now it is hard, the work is burdenous. The Jedi upper ranks are spread thin, though we have a good many Padawans moving along at a fair learning pace. Perhaps it wasn't a good time for me to leave them, but I know they shall do fine. The relatively small number of Master Jedi struggle constantly to supervise and guide true the younger Jedi, and dispense with threats such as these."
Leia simply cut off right there, she was distracted. And so when she spoke again, her voice indeed seemed distant, distracted.
"Why do you ask?"

Antioch.....Galactic Board.....
"I swear, Gomorran, that Jedi witch has Korban under a spell." grumbled the young white haired leader of Tyscio Clan.
The Regent looked a monitor at almost eye level that tracked the progress of their visitors and smiled faintly at his friend's reference.
"Peace Zier. We need all the help we can get. And, besides, maybe she will give our wayward friend direction."
Zier snorted at that but said nothing at first. He turned to the data coming in from the system's many tracking stations.
"Sir! We have them!" a Tyscio Clan soldier nearly shouted as he entered the room containing the Galactic Board.
Tyscio watched his Regent's eyes drop with a relief at the words and immediately thought the word that Kay next voiced, "Where?"
The man nearly stammered at the direct demand for information.
"Minos." was his only answer.
Tyscio turned to the aging Leantre Vio, Leader of Clan Leantre, and noted the old man's eyes go up in surprise.
"The colonies...." Zier whispered.
He could see the information processing in his Regent's mind and knew that this changed the face of the defensive strategy that Kay seemed to prefer.
The Regent turned to him.
"Take your ships, Zier. Apparently, there are still colonies out there or the planet's wouldn't have attracted the attention of the invaders."
..then almost as an afterthought, Gomorran said, "Take the Jedi and Korban with you."
"And Scipio's new host?" Zier asked, gesturing to the image on one large screen of the Imperial Republic's Blaze of Glory Super Star Destroyer.
"Use it as you see fit." the Regent commanded coming quickly to the decision.
"Leantre, how's Capricia?"
Zier saw the old man weighing consequences in his brain before saying, "We are as ready as we will ever be."
Gomorran through a glance at Tyscio Zier and nodded.
No words were needed as Tyscio acknowledged it. The fleet rested with him.
He pulled out his communications device and ordered the immediate readiness of Tyscio Clan military vessels.
He started to walk away to talk to his adjutant, "I am going to be issuing orders to the SSD and the fleet. As soon as Korban and his Jedi companion get here, fill them in. I have to leave to the Tribune to coordinate."
Damn...damn...damn... Tirus, Providence... Minos.. They mean to finish us this time!
Tyscio Zier's troubled thoughts provided little comfort as he left the Galactic Board room and went to a waiting shuttle.
On the way, he did smile briefly at the fact that Korban and his Jedi temptress.... (he sighed, he knew he was being unfair, but war and religion makes for a very bad combination. Still, this woman fought the Empire.. The Empire! There had to be an inner fire that burned in her.) have been nothing but escorted around...not having the time to simply rest their heads.
He ran his hand through his short cropped white hair as he reflected on the last time he got some sleep.
Too long...

But for many the life is a fulfilling one,...
Tyscio's eyes narrowed slightly at those words...
Hopefully, it is for you Leia....
He smiled at her question.
"I am curious about the Jedi. I mean, all I really know about them is either from the flawed books that are taught in our schools for from what I have seen by being around a few."
His own eyes narrowed as if he could see the future.
"You look like you could use help...." was all he said at first and then smiled wryly.
"So, If I am alive at the end of this...... perhaps..."
His voice trailed off..

"..help..."
Tyscio had trailed off.
Help?
Leia's mind rested silently on that one word for a moment. Her tired mind, let run loose, came to many different meanings and ends with that one, but reflexively settled on the safest.
Now why would Tyscio Korban wish to become a Jedi?
The great doors to their destination came into view, and a different sense suddenly swept Leia's stray thoughts away like a broom would dirt on a floor.
"Trouble..." She said aloud, though softly. New escorts were already moving to take their places around the two and their guide as they approached the entrance. There were no cautions overlooked here, Leia saw, and wondered why, though she did not voice the question. She supposed she was about to find out anyways...

(Everything was different now.)
(It was true... he felt so blind but somehow... the visions made into his head... what he had saw remained...)
"General."
(How odd. He was now named as they were... now fell into the ranks of the infidels, surrounded by technology and those who he swore to kill.)
(But he was at last at peace. He had a home.)
"We approach General. ETA of the remnant four hours and fourty seven minutes."
(So, it would be him against a Yuuzhan Vong invasion fleet for four hours. Could he survive?)
(Was there a hope of victory today?)
"General?"
"Prepare to engage."

“Ambassador Scipio, I’m honored to receive you and your envoy upon our most humble abode.”
Cronus’ eyes peered amongst the erroneous characters that sat within the hordes of his most finely decorated officers; he wanted of course to make a fine impression. His eyes wavered past the astonishing sexy young woman seated to his left, her eyes catching his glance, she smiled discreetly. He returned the nodded.
His simle however lopsided into a repugnant, serious frown. He was standing out of his chair, preferring to to pose an intimidating stature when addressing foreign dignitaries, of more less, politicians. His hands were balled into fists, supporting his upper body as he leaned in close to the spectators below.
"Our current situation is drastic, I understand. I want to make my point to you and your envoy Ambassador Scipio..."
His eyes peered searching through the depths of her soul. Those eyes... Carol... those eyes.
"... as well as to my own staff and crewmen."
He sighed.
"We're here with no open hostilities, our standards strictly on an open based foreign diplomacy. Any open conflict between any of our parties shall be dealt with contempt."
His lips parted into a tight wily smile.
"And our brigs have plenty of clean space."
He once again sprang with serious demeanor.
"You've been given access to our network intelligence database... I trust that Relay won't be picking up any partial information dumps to the systems core banks."
He paused in mid sentence as an aide walked through the mag doors, an anxious look about his features. Cronus leaned his head slight ways. His eyes reassured the aide's anxiety. Surely this message had was affiliated with the invasion.
He dismissed the aide promptly, his mouth twitching in sudden annoyance.
"It appears, we've recieved a transmission from the Regency command center regarding the Vong's whereabouts. I'll patch it through the console behind me, if you'll direct your attention there."

Leia's Blindness
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They walked down a hall, their shoes echoing in the corridor. As Leia thought about Tyscio's words, he turned to her in sudden curiousity.
"What's it like? To be a Jedi?"

Re: Leia's Blindness

Arrival
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Everything was different now.)

*...Gathering his things, Vinda looked around his office, the Coldness had not left him, in fact, it had gotten stronger....
...but he was used to it now,
...the force warning him...
..although he was not attuned to the force as to be able to predict future outcomes, to see ahead, he was emphatic enough to receive its subtle hints...
...and it hinted at danger...
..Vinda paused, as if looking through the walls in front of him, he was not certain as to the right course of action, but Action as opposed to inaction, felt better, as a gut instinct....
...walking up to his desk, he pulled open a small drawer, and as it slid towards him, the light reflected off its mettalic edges and flittered upon his face, after rummaging for a while, he retrieved a small black leather pouch....
His Cigarra's....*
"..can't forget these..."
*..sliding the pouch into his inside suit pocket, he glanced around the room, as if taking a last look,
..the fleet was ready, it was now time to act....*
