OOC: Good enough.
Gash could only watch the epic conflict from the bridge of the Hermes. It was an abbreiviated view, but quite sufficient for him to understand the events occuring. The Rogue Jedi Order forces were gelling quite well; in fact, Gash had never seen so few fighters eliminate quite so many. His personal squadron of I-7 Howlrunners had shot down a similar number to that which Blue Squadron had, though slightly lesser. As had the TIE Banes.
What was catching Gash's eye now was the conflict between the massive warships. Barrages of fire were exchanged, as the Jedi Master barked out orders to his crew and the crews of the Dreadnaughts. Soon enough, the first Dreadnought's shield's collapsed. The Hermes capitalized, as Gash used it's far superior speed to jet in, and strafe the ship. In addition to striking a reactor and destroying it, they hit the bridge with several green splinters of turbolaser fire. That Dreadnought was permanently crippled.
The next ship fell in spectacular fashion, as the shields fell and a massive fury of turbolasers bolts tore it apart. The gigantic craft began to spin as the unrelenting assault ripped off more metal shards and ionized durasteel, until it exploded right at the center point, splitting the ship into two charred, blackened phantasms of hulls.
Three of the Corellian Corvettes fell, one in an explosion, one crippled, and the other partially destroyed and opened to the ice-cold vaccuum of space by several smaller blasts.
Back on the bridge of the Hermes, Gash turned and began to stride from the head of the metal beast.'Gash?'
"I am going groundside. Hopefully, I can find Denti."
'Right.'
* * * *
One ride on the Crimson Blade II later, the Rogue Jedi Master was stepping off his shuttle and onto the moist ground. Asthentia was warm, heavy, humid like someone had boiled a massive pot of water all over the tropical paradise.
Gash had landed in the courtyard of the Great Castle, and promptly leapt into speeding action. He sprinted, full tilt and as fast as his muscles could carry him with the aid of the Force towards the castle. He almost didn't notice that all around him, somewhat startled by the ship landing in their midst but fighting none the less, were hundreds of troops. Half seemed to be dressed in the characteristic robe and cloak garment of the Asthentian armed forces. Blaster shots ricocheted all around Gash.
The Jedi Master whipped out his lightsaber, stopping several bolts from hitting him. Without hesitation, he slashed open the door of the castle and continued running. Past the halls, into the main court...
To a sight he wished he'd not seen.
Lying on the floor with a cauterized slash across her neck, was his mother. He rushed to her side, placing his hand on her wrist...
Dead.
Stone cold dead. And the wound was distinctive. Only one weapon made that sort of cut. A lightsaber. Gash stood, turning to face the way he'd come, to see a smirking, swaggering Joruck Denti.'Well, hello, Gash. My, how you've grown older since I last saw you...'
"As have you. Uglier, as well... my trapping you in the phostosil mine didn't treat you well, I see."
The man sneered, bringing up a lightsaber he seemed to have contructed and igniting it to show a red blade. Gash readied his own saphire blade. 'No, it didn't.'
"So, a lightsaber? Have you moved up to play with the big boys, Joruck?"
'Yes, indeed I have, Gash.'
"Good."
Denti leapt towards Gash, as the Jedi Master transferred the saber to his right hand to block. The fingers of his prosthetic left hand grew their talons once again.
The two lightsabers met. Denti seemed to have constructed his well enough, and learned enough of the Force to make the weapon function properly. Gash countered low and left, only to be blocked. He kicked Denti's feet out from under him with his right leg, simultaneously slashing the man's arm with his taloned prosthetic.
Droplets of blood splattered the floor as several Asthentian guards rushed into the chamber. Most immediately bowed on bended knee to Gash. The ones who didn't, soon did so, recognizing their Prince."Stay there!"
Joruck leapt five feet into the air off of the ground with the aid of the Force, and Gash once again slashed at him. Left, right, left, low, high... the Jedi Master fell into a rhythm, and Denti began to sweat. Even as they fought, Gash spoke."Well, what is it, Denti? Where'd you meet the pirates? On Nar Shadda? At some Sith palace? That would explain the lightsaber."
'I'll... never... tell....'
Joruck was beginning to falter. The blood lost on his arm's wound slowed him down also. With a quick sideways slash, the lightsaber flew out of the pirate's hand."You've been after the throne ever since you were a Duke here. I let you away once; you returned. This time... no redemption. No release. Goodbye, Joruck Denti."
Gash twisted the handle on the lightsaber, switching the inner workings away from the saphire focusing jewel and over to the diamond. The blade elongated, and turned from blue to white. The Jedi Master thrusted the saber out, into Joruck's chest, through his heart. With a gurgle, the smell of ionized organic material filled the room, and Denti fell down, blood oozing from his mouth and the wound.
Gash shook all over as his comm unit rang."Yes?"
'They're retreating, sir. They seem to be leaving the planets on shuttles, boarding the last two enemy ships.'
"Let them go. Denti is dead; this conflict is over."
Gash sneered to the corpse at his feet.
Out of the congregation of guards surrounding the room, stepped General Dryland, ragged and with his left arm in a sling, but looking healthy otherwise.'Searthen! What- oh, no...'
The General's eyes strayed to the two corpses on which Gash stood; his mother's, and Denti's. Gash shook his head slowly, tears forming in his crimson red eyes."I'm sorry, General. I didn't get here in time to save her... I took Denti's life shortly after he took her's."
Dryland nodded sadly, as Gash called over Denti's red lightsaber with the force. The weapon entered his hand quietly, and Gash flicked off his own saber, clipping both swords to his belt.'Searthen... you are the crown Prince-Master... and...'
The man dropped to one knee, a tear falling silently from his bowed face to the ground in memorium of the Queen. Gash's mother."What is it?"
The General's head came up to stare at Gash. 'You are now... King-Master Searthen.'
A hearty cry of 'Long live the King!'
rose up from the guards surrounding the room. Gash looked about, bewildered. Then he nodded quietly."Then I officially put Asthentia under Rogue Jedi Order rule."
The guards cheered, and Gash put his arm's built-in comm to his mouth. He set it to broadcast to all of his forces. "All RJO and NR forces may stand down. Let the pirates go. I regret to announce my mother has been killed in the struggle... I have been placed as king of Asthentia. The Rogue Jedi Order now possesses my home planet; good work. New Republic ships, you can go back to Corellia... Blue Squadron, land, and we can celebrate."
Another cheer rose up from the guards, as D31 mumbled sarcastically onto the channel, 'Long live the king... pfft...'
