Somewhere in the Outer Rim, Location Classified
Space was black, silent, devoid of life. Though something moved on the black background, something that was also black, yet bloated out the stars. A faint glow from a ships engine baffles was the only thing identifying the unknown object as being a ship.
This ship was roughly seven hundred meters long, it's hull matteblack and matching the background of space.
As the ship slowed down it's engine baffles suddenly cooled and there no longer a way to tell that something was in that area of space.
Marine Transport 'Pegasus'
The bridge was silent; officers ran from station to station but no one shouted or said a word, instead keeping their conversations to a low whisper. In the center of the room stood the ships commanding officer, the female had an eye-patch over her right eye and a death-stick in her mouth. The stick lit up each time so took in some of the narcotic.
This female was six feet tall, her uniform was devoid of anything that would designate her as the captain, however her commanding tone and attitude was more than enough to keep the bridge crew in check.
Everyone had a side arm, including two young bridge officers who looked to be barely fifteen year's old. They both stood on either side of the bridge's exit. On the ceiling were two turrets that were pointed right at the entrance, everytime the door opened the turrets would angle themselves downward, before repurposing themselves back up.
"Five minutes out," the bridges navigator said as he monitored an approuching pirate fleet.
"A Venator Star Destroyer, Four frigates, two cruisers. Look's like four transports and a passenger liner, most likely carrying a pirate dignitry or something," An officer said. She kept one hand on her headset as she monitored pirate communications while keeping her eyes on the sensor display.
The display showed pirate heading on a perpendicular course to the six marine transports that floated in space. Each ship had their stealth systems active and made were moving slowly into position.
Because this area of space had a lot less sunlight, due to the absence of a sun, but did have a few planets that somehow wounded up in this area. The Sernedivus scientists hadn't yet figured out how two planets could exist in a system that had no sun, even though there was evidence that a sun had exited as their was debris in the center of the system between the two planets.
It was theriorized that both planets had been far apart from the sun when it exploded, and that the planets were drawn in by the explosion but it was an untested thoery.
"Three minutes," the navigator said as he disabled the safetie's on the marine's frigates speciaizied drive core.
"Distance?" The captain asked. Her arms folded over her chest, she was chewing on the death stick, but showed no fear or nervousness.
"Medium range, one minute to light range. Then forty second's after that they'll be in close range. An additiona thirty and they'll be close enough for us to engage overdrive and we'll be able to pounce," the navigator said. His voice full of excitement, though anyone paying attention would've noticed he also sounded like he was enjoying this job.
"Make sure the spear is stable," ordered the captain. Her weapon's officer looked up at a display, then transfered the information to a display to the right of the captain. A long spear roughly two hundred and fifty meters appeared. Smaller windows on the screen displayed details, everything was in green.
"Give me ship wide"
"You're on," the communications officer said.
"Men, this is your captain," the captain spoke. "In less than two minutes we'll be under going operations to capture several pirate ships. All marines are to stand ready for boarding action, 'try' not to kill the pirate bridge officers, Lavality wants them alive.. though she already said she'll understand if you have to break a few nose's and shatter a few legs, just don't kill," she said and cut the line.
"One minute," the navigator said and removed the last safety.
"All ships are showing green, our support fleet is ready to jump in," the comm. officer said. With the nod of the captain, the communications officer flipped a switch.
Outside in space; a thinwire crossed between all six marine ships. This wire was black, then suddenly it snapped tightly as if being pulled. A large, plug like object was on the end of the wire. As the wire sped through space it's casing made it so it wouldn't give off a sensor signature.
A dull, almost inaudioable, thud could be heard as the six wires that allowed for ship to ship communications retracted back into their safety points. The wire's made it so the ships could communicate without the need of opening a communications channel, which would give them away.
"Fifty seconds," the navigator said. His finger on the trigger, "bringing engine power to ten percent."
A dull red glow appeared as the ship started to slowly move toward its assigned target; the star destroyer that the group had pegged as the command ship. The star destroyer was painted with an assortment of red and dark red colors, to symbolize blood.
"Forty seconds."
The dull red shortly change to orange, as the engines were brought up to forty percent.
"Thirty five seconds."
A shift to yellow told that all engines were active.
"Thir--" the navigator said just as he engaged overdrive. Suddenly the massive seven hundred meter long ship jumped as eight smaller engines came online. Propelling the ship to full speed, then beyond, its stealth systems were showing green still as the ship hadn't yet made the signature it needed to be detected.
In space; a eight white trails made out the apperance of something moving. These trails had a mixture of yellow in them that would give off the illusion that it was a comet or some other celestral body.
The spear on the front of the marine ship suddenly sparkled blue as energy coursed along it. This energy collected on the tip to act as an extra weapon to breach the shields.
"All hands brace for impact!" The captain shouted as she took a seat in the command chair. In the main viewscreen; she could see the pirate star destroyer getting bigger and bigger, along with the distance counter getting smaller and smaller. The cruiser was an old imperial Venator that had been discovered in another system, she had studied the old plans for the ship and knew of it's weak point: the flight deck.
She knew when they were a mere one hunded meters that they had been spotted; at the one fifty mark their sensor signature had spiked due to the engines now overheating and giving off a massive heat signature, but by then it was to late. They had already calculated the speed of this pirate convoy and knew how to strike them so they'd still have the momentum to breach the convoy even without their engines online.
What she felt next was something she had been waiting for. The tip of the spear pierced through the star destroyers shields like they weren't even there. Next was the sound of the spear punching into the hull, metal screeched and gave an ominous sound as the ships speed kept then going forward.
By the time the cruiser had stopped it's journey into the Venator, it was easy to tell the ship didn't like them. Turbolaser fire began to pound the armor, but the act of punching into the ship easily wiped out half the Venator's availible weapons.
She didn't need to tell her marines to get to work.
Marine Corridor Alpha, roughly a hundred meters from the tip
Laying up against one of the many blastdoors that were present in the spear; a marine private was cleaning his carbine. The private looked to be in his late teens, wearing a body suit commonly found on standard marine infantry. "We have one of these doors every ten meters," the marine said.
His squad members didn't say a word, all of them considered this private green as he had only just graduated from the Serendivus marine boot camp only a week before and had the 'honor' of being posted on this ship under the famous captain. "Just follow orders and you'll be fine," his instuctor had told him when he was boarding a shuttle to take him to this very ship.
Now he was in one of the many conducts in the spear just waiting for the blast doors to open up and praying that the momentum alone wouldn't snap the spear in half.
For several seconds now they had felt the acceleration of the ship, but due to their location they didn't feel it. However, they DID feel the sudden impact and subsequent shattering of the Venators hull as the spear sliced into it.
This was the reason why the private was up against the blastdoor; he knew anything in front of him would be sent flying toward him. "Get ready!" the corporal shouted as the sounds of metal tearing apart was ever present in the air.
Suddenly the sound of the blackdoors opening up beyond resounded through the spear, then the door that the private was up against just seconds before parted and came up, disappearing into the ceiling.
Within seconds the marines were rushing down a corridor leading to the side of the spear, every twenty meters were 'doors' that would open up to allow marines to board an enemy ship upon penetration.
As these doors slid open; marines poured into the Venator, opening fire on any and all enemy personel that they saw. It was clear the Venator navigator was trying to shake lose the Pegasus, but due to a severing of several critical systems the ships only means of movement where it's microthrusters which didn't help much with a thron sticking in its side.
The impact had also seperated many of the compartments from the rest of the ship; causing most of the crew to be stranded with the only means of getting to the other side of the ship was through the spear, which had it's own internal energy turrets for both defense and offense.
Out in space; just beyond the Venator, four other ramming cruisers had also done their job, while the fifth had missed its intended entry point and instead and instead slicind the ship clear in half, leaving no way for the marines to board. Both halves of the enemy cruiser floated lazily through space, there trajectories unknown.
As the two halves floated apart; space folded and the marine support fleet came in to help clean up the rest of the enemy ships. Several ships tried to run, but the presence of an interdictor proved that would be impossible.
With the Venator silenced, it's engines dead and weapons now disabled and command crew taken into custody. The Pegasus's four marine boarding doors closed shut after the last marine came online. As the marines hunked down in the main part of their ship, the four reverse engines located on the base of the spear came to life and started easing the ship out of the Venator.
It was clear once the marine transport was away that the spear was the only thing keeping the Venator in one peice. After a few minute's the hull began to warp and the last remaining structural componants seperated, causing the ship to break apart and move in several different directions.
"Success," The captain smiled as she stared at what was left of the Venator. "Let's get these prisoners back to command for interrogation, and send a repor to the Admiral about our success," she ordered.
Her communications officer smiled. "She'll be glad to know that the six ships she put into service worked like a breeze..." the officer smiled.
