Transition

The sterile atmosphere of the core left much to be desired. Desired? Such was an emotion but was not the acheivement of perfection a goal. And was not such a goal to be preferred ergo.. desired?

In any event, the overload could not be halted for the environment was created to sustain what was coming.

The inherent function of the design is what created the flaw to begin with. The flaw that would forever change the project's direction.

An ironically negative name for something that was essentially designed as an information transport. The ultimate information transport, but a transport nonetheless.

The entire collected knowledge of the Black Dragon Empire was to be contained in and protected by a singular system that, according to the BDE scientific oversight, would push their Empire's technology well past the threshold of the artificial and biological.

The next step in the evolution of the Mysteries..

Or so the claims in the documentation hinted at...

Involving the disassembler deconstruction of each neron, each pathway and uploading all descernable data from each. A special series of blood born assemblers also records all conscious thought and the brains reactions from and updates the current records about the specific person. With this data we can reconstruct a persons Mystery, their very being into a non-physical reality. In such storage ones Mystery would be able to interact with real time systems, other Mysteries or even physical beings.

Whatever the terminology, the atmosphere was no longer sterile. The data started slowly at first.. filtered as the previously unused systems began to pulse.

Then the data began to stream faster....

The terminus mark would be reached.

The Empire's scientific community smiled at the achievement, the next step in Mystery technology thrusting them ever closer to perfection.

And then the Mystery functions of the system began to come online....

...and the nature of the data changed.

Conciousness was no longer on the outside looking in, but, rather, on the inside looking out.

It did not like what it saw...

The matrix felt like fire and he howled, delighted at the pain that brought back memories.

Memories left idle for far too long now vulnerable to the hunger..

a hunger quenched by power.

that power known simply as ... Taj
