Joren Logan watched silently as the young crewman turned on his heel ans marched out of his private command room. So young...so...innocent. They had no idea what could possibly be ahead of them. The Ensign had his whole life and career to live out.

Logan envied him.

Why? because Logan himself had been there once, he had his whole life ahead.

"Admiral?"

Logan turned his head and smiled down at the little grey being standing there.

"Yes Mahk?"

"Are you feeling well? you seem...distant"

"I am just reflecting on the past"

Mahk nodded but said nothing. Logan admired the little bodyguard. He was usually silent and invisible...but occasionaly he said somthing that made Logan stop and think.

Logan had learned quickly to value Mahk's rare advice, it was worth it. Suddenly, the comm on Logan's chair started bleeping. He frowned slightly and pushed the button.

"Sir, we are approaching Rogue Imperial space"

"Drop out of hyperspace and prepare my shuttle"

"Yes sir"

Logan stood up and walked to the bridge, Mahk trailing behind him.

The warning buzzer in the cockpit of the Millennium Jade Falcon was deafening. Jai cringed and winced at every high-pitched squeal, "I hear you, I hear you! Geesh."

Jai searched the nav computer with lightning speed, "Cm'on, cm'on...there's gotta be a planet around here somewhere!"

"Al-what-a? Wonderful...I've located hick-ville."

"What?! Rouge Imperial...as in...The Rogue Empire?! Oh goodie...not only have I discovered hick-ville, but a Fearsons' owned hick-ville. Could this day get any better?"

"Thank you ensign"

The young ensign smiled and turned around. Mahk steped forward and glared at the young man.

"That is all, Ensign Shinti"

Shniti scowled and went back to the cockpit. Logan just laughed and turned to the Noghri.

"You are too harsh to the young ones, my friend"

"He must learn his place"

"I'm sure"

Logan's smile faded as he looked out the cockpit, the blue-green-white ball of Almania filled the veiwport. That planet held too many memories...too much pain. Maybe he shouldn't have come back.

"Sir" the captain's voice came through "I am picking up a small freighter on sensors..its appears to be the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Millienium Jade Falcon<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->. It is low on fuel and it may be in trouble"

Logan smiled slightly and sighed.

"Hail it, offer our assistance"

"Understood"

"Shuttle 123yadayada, you can take your assistance and shove it up your..."

Jai cut off transmisson with a satisfied smirk. The painful buzzing continued, but Jai tried to drowned it out with what little Force ability she held.

After she acquired a landing clearance, she swooped down into the planet's atmosphere and down to a refueling station. She parked her MJF and strolled down the ramp, "Fill 'er up, Kid...and don't spare the oilcan, eh?"

Jai took off to explore for a bit while the fueler's filled up the ship's tank.

Wrong account.

Logan smiled and shook his head, that was Jaina all right.

"Land the shuttle"

"As ordered" that captain said a little too dryly. Mahk stepped forward and was about to retort but Logan put a hand on his small shoulder and shook his head. Mahk backed away and strapped himself in. Logan did as well as the ship began it's descent into the atmosphere.


Once it landed, Logan and Mahk stepped out and headed out..

The bouncers of the bar and promptly picked Jai up, and handed her off to a couple of driods, whom depositied the young smuggler sounded on her backside at the public landing pads.

"You can't do this to me! I'm Jai Darklighter! I"ll have your heads for this...be sure of th-- <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Oof!<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->"

Jai rubbed her hurt backside and shook her other fist at the departing droids, "Tin cans!" She sighed and got to her feet. As she was brushing herself off, she felt a tap on her shoulder...

Logan sighed as he walked through the streets of the former New Alliance's capital. There were so many memories here.


Mahk was a silent companion the whole time, never saying a word.

"Mahk, you are very quiet"

"I wish to let you refect and be with your thoughts. I am your protector"

"And my friend. I count you as one of my friends"

Mahk stopped and looked at him.

"I am greatly honored, Admiral"

"Call me Joren. We are not on duty"

"Joren"

Logan smiled at Mahk.

"Well-"

He was interuppted by a body, flying out a door. Two droids had discarded the unfortunate woman like trash. Logan smiled as he saw who it was. He walked up and tapped her on the shoulder.

"Hello Mrs Darklighter. Been a long time"

Jai's smuggler reflexes, already on alert from the bar people, suddenly gets triggered at being touched from behind. The young smuggler lunges out, planting a hard left to Mahk's chin.

Jai eyes flashed with battle-readiness....but faded to paralized shock when she saw Mahk rubbing his jaw. "Mahk! Logan!" Jai scrambled to her feet..."Oh Mahk....Oh wow. I'm sorry. Logan..I swear, I didn't know it was him."

Mahk stepped forward, assassin blade in hand. Logan frowned and growled words in the Noghri language.

"Meha'tai!!"

Mahk stopped cold in his tracks and looked at Logan with a guilty look on his face. He retreated behind Logan and bowed his head.

Logan smiled at Jaina.

"I'm sure you didn't. Would you like to walk with me?"
