An Unexpected Discovery (MCR Takeover of Da Soocha)
  • Posted On: Dec 24 2002 2:21am
"Sir, we will arrive in the Ando system in approximately 30 seconds."
"Excellent." Teebo said. He was on a routine inspection of the shipyards. It once took him a week, but now, because of the recent war-and-peace with The Jutraalian Empire, it took less than a day. The ordeal with TJE had cost him six planets, countless ships, and 17 shipyards. He was now cut back to a measly 2 planets, and only four shipyards.
Now he was on a bid of conquest again. He needed planets, resources, ships, everything. The war with TJE had devastated the Mon Calamari Republic, and the road to recovery would be a long one. After his inspection at Ando, he was going to proceed to a small backwater planet he had dug out of the archives, called Da Soocha. It was deep in Hutt Space, a vast region explored by the Hutts. Supposedly, after discovering the planet, the Hutts had thought it to be a planet referred to in one of their legends. They had considered it holy and had never set foot on the planet. Which, Teebo supposed, they couldn't have done anyway since it was completely covered in water.
Teebo planned to secure the planet, set up a small floating base, and then colonize it with some Mon Calamarians, and perhaps Quarren or Aqualish. Since it was an ocean planet, he figured he could draw some of the more adventurous types to go. And the planet would be able to support shipyards.
He needed ships, needed them badly. His homeworld of Calamari, and the recently acquired planet of Ando only had so many resources, not enough it seemed. He hoped to get construction crews to Ando as soon as possible to begin constructing the massive framework required for a shipyard. He had been assured it would take no more than 40 days to have the shipyards active, but Teebo was doubtful. He suspected something more like 80, for the construction workers were well known for creating tiny flaws that could set them back many weeks. All he could do was hope that all went well, and in the meantime he would have to conquer other planets.
If he planned to acquire even a mediocre amount of ships, he would need planets aplenty. Now he only had two. It seemed his entire career had been devoted to conquering planets, building ships, having those ships destroyed and then surrendering planets. Then take more planets, build more ships, lose them and start all over again. It was a never-ending cycle.
He needed more power. As soon as he reached even a modest amount of firepower, some galactic superpower did something and forced him to intervene. He would lose planets, ships, and many lives. He needed more power to compete with those he warred against; else the cycle of his life would never change.
"Sir," a junior officer said, " We have arrived at Ando."
"Excellent. Prepare my shuttle. I want to inspect the shipyards immediately, so then maybe I can take some time to look at the planet."
"As you wish sir."
<hr />
A Short while later, Teebo was in the cockpit of his personal shuttle, piloting it to the shipyards. They were massive superstructures, and he could see the framework of a Mon Calamari Star Cruiser, as well as several smaller ships being worked on inside. The Mon Cals took great pride in their ships, individualizing down to the last detail. He wondered what the ships produced at Ando would turn out like. The Aqualish would not pay as much attention, that much was certain. Teebo guessed the ships would be more standard that what he was used to, but that was okay. The Ando shipyards would only produce smaller craft, such as MC-90s, while the shipyards at Mon Calamari would produce the massive flagships.
Teebo liked to see more work put into the larger ships, as it individualized them even more than usual. He could name the majority of the ships in his fleet merely by looking at their hulls, seeing the discoloration and differential in the bumps. Mon Calamari ships were noted for being covered in large bumps. Some contained shield generators, others turbolasers, Ion cannons, or other weapons, and the rest were just decorations, often serving as quarters for the ship's higher ranking officers.
On Teebo's flagship, the Viscount, he lived in a bubble on the starboard side, near the bow end. From the outside it was indistinguishable from the rest, but on the inside it was a large luxurious room, with a large aquarium circling the outside, filled with all kinds of different species of fish from Calamari. He enjoyed sitting for hours, doing nothing but watching the movements of the fish, longing to be back on his homeworld. But he had duties to perform, and so was rarely on Calamari. He was most often of his flagships, traveling to worlds to petition the to join, inspecting his fleet, or performing numerous other activities. Because of the frequent traveling, he spent many hours in hyperspace, and he usually endured them in his quarters.
He often spent time on the bridge as well though, so that he could familiarize himself with the crew. He made several trips to the hangar bays, repair bays, passenger areas, and had even once gone to the crews' quarters. He liked to make surprise visits to see if the ship was operating efficiently. It served to keep him informed, as well as keeping the crew on their toes. He had seen more than once where a crew got lazy, and it would often cost them their lives.
As he approached the shipyard, the comm. Officer signaled him and sent him landing coordinates, informing him of where to land. He flew the shuttle down and dropped neatly on the landing pad designated for his use, and then disembarked the shuttle. The shipyard seemed much larger now that he was closer, and he marveled at the enormity of its design.
He looked around, and noticed a blue-skinned Aqualish motioning him to join her. He walked casually over, and she introduced herself.
"I am Nonaw Mago. I will be you guide for your stay at the Ando Shipyards." Her voice was bubbly, as if she was gurgling water in her throat as she spoke. Teebo looked at her with one of his large eyes for a moment, and then said, "I am looking forward to my tour."
"Right this way, Admiral." She motioned with her arm toward an open airlock 20 feet away. Teebo followed her as she walked, his eyes moving independently of one another, surveying his surroundings.
"To your left, you'll see the research sector..
<hr />
Some time later, Teebo flopped back on his waterbed in his quarters on the Viscount. It had been a long day, and all he felt like doing right now was getting a good night's sleep. He stared up at the ceiling, watching a small green and blue fish eating some algae, and drifted off into an uneasy sleep.

<span style="color:blue;">A young man walked dwon an empty corridor, his boots echoeing loudly on the polished stone. He pulled open a door at the end, and stepped through into a dimly lit room. A lone figure sat in this room robed in black, perched high in a glorious looking throne.
"My lord." The man said, bowing.</span>
<span style="font-family:times new roman; color:gray;">[What the hell...]</span>
<span style="color:blue;">"What is the status of the Fleets, Commander?" The robed figure said in a deep voice.
"They are prepared, my lord. We attack at your whim."
"Excellent. Dispatch one vessel as a scout force to the target designated Aliyo." The figure was obviously an important dignitary of some sort.
"As you wish, my lord." The man bowed and departed, walking back down the corridor.</span>
<span style="font-family:times new roman; color:gray;">[Where am I?]</span>
<span style="color:blue;">The man continued walking, the noise of his footsteps resonating against the walls. He continued for some time, passing through empty room after empty room.
After a while, he came to a single door. The man pulled it open, and stepped into what appeared to be a hangar bay of some sort. In the middle there was a single shuttle, of a strange design never seen before.
The man entered the shuttle, and piloted up to a fleet of Star Destroyers and other vessels orbiting overhead.</span>
<span style="font-family:times new roman; color:gray;">[What is this?]</span>
<span style="color:blue;">Upon reaching the largest of the ships, which appeared to be a heavily modified version of the Executor-Class Star Destroyer, the man disembarked from the shuttle. He proceeded to the bridge of the vessel, and stopped in front of a man.
The crew of the ship, all men, wore the same uniform. It was of an unknown design, decorated with medals and insignias, also of an unknown design. The man he stopped in front of had a highly decorated uniform, almost as decorated as the young man's own.
"Captain." The young man said.
"Commander."</span>
<span style="font-family:times new roman; color:gray;">[Huh?]</span>
<span style="color:blue;">"Dispatch the Mirado immidiately to target Aliyo. She is to scout the enemy." The young man said.
"As you wish, Commander." The Captain replied. He turned and relayed the message to a comm officer, who then broadcasted it to the fleet.
"Now we can begin our conquest." The Commander said. "Now shall be the end of the water dwellers."</span>
Then everything went black.

What the hell was that? Was the first thing that came to Teebo's mind when he awoke. Sure, he had had dreams before, but they were very rare occurances. When they did happen they were usually peaceful dreams of what he would do when he retired.
Nothing like that.
However, Teebo dismissed it and strolled briskly to his bridge.
A Mon Cal saluted to him as he entered. "Admiral." the Mon Cal said.
Teebo returned the salute. "Captain, are we ready to depart for Da Soocha?"
"Yes, sir. The course has already been programmed into the navigational computers. We leave on your word."
"Excellent." Teebo said. "Take us away."
The massive Viscount-Class Star Defender pulled away from the rest of the fleet at Ando and oriented itself toward Da Soocha. The Captain nodded to another officer and he pulled a lever. The Viscount shot off into hyperspace, bound for Da Soocha.
"Captain," Teebo said, "What's our ETA?"
"We should arrive in four hours." The Captain replied.
"Excellent. I will return to my quarters for a while. If anything requires my attention, contact me immidiately."
"As you wish, Admiral." Teebo saluted, the truned around and walked back off the bridge, heading for his quarters.
<hr />
An hour later, Teebo was back on the bridge. He sat in his command chair, deep in thought. When they got to Da Soocha, the Viscount would immidiately deploy the constrution team to build a floating base. Teebo wanted to stay and examine the progress, but he knew that he had more pressing matters on his hands.
Demand had arisen for a smaller, faster Cruiser than those that were in existence. The MC-40a was just too large, and not that fast. Something smaller was needed.
And Teebo was heading the design team. He knew that it was going to be roughly half the length of the existing MC-40a, but that was about as far as he had gotten. He had worked out a few basic wireframe hulls in his head, but none of them seemed quite right. He needed something different, perhaps different than any Mon Calamari ship designed before it.
And that is waht made it so difficult. It was eaasy to design a hull off a design already in existence, as most ships were, but creating an entirely new chassis was something entirely different. He would have to think about that one. Perhaps it would be best just to stick with the stunningly successful Mon Calamari hull design.
There was also the difficulty of weapons. If too many weapons were added, it would reduce the speed of the vessel, countering the purpose of the design. No, it needed to be light armed, armoured and shielded, but not too light. It needed to be able to defend itself.
Then there was support craft. Should it carry any onboard fighters? Should it carry any troops, and therefore need shuttles? Teebo was leaning towards have no troops, and perhaps 4 or 6 starfighters.
No, he really needed some time to think this out. He couldn't afford to oversee the operations at Da Soocha. As soon as he was done here he would have to return to Ando to get his design team, then head to the Research Facilities on Mon Calamari.
Perhaps after that he could return to Da Soocha. Depending on how long it took him, they may even have shipyards up by then, and would surely have begun construction on them. Then again, he hoped his work would not take him that long. Time was a valuable thing, and spending 6 weeks to design a Frigate would be a little extreme. No, he would have to finish the project much sooner than that.
Then there was also the dilemma of what to produce in the shipyards. The fleet, owing to the recent TJE war, was now compromised almost entirely of massive command ships, much like the one he was now on.
They needed smaller ships. Perhaps this new Frigate would be exactly what the fleet needed. He was sure it would become quite a valuable asset. The difficulty was he would need to design it so it wasn't expensive to manufacture. Engine systems were quite expensive, and if this was to go fast, they would need to be good engines. Perhaps a new engine design was in order.
But that would take more time, time he did not have. No, he supposed he would have to stick with the traditional Mon Calamari design, which were, in fact, quite good.
For the weaon systems he would stick to traditional Mon Calamari weaponry, as that was still quite effective. The shields, as well, would be traditional Mon Calamari shields.
The hull he was unsure of. If he redesigned the chassis, perhaps new hull materials were in order. But, then again, the current ones had proven to be quite effective, and there was no need to change them.
He turned to face his Captain. 'What is our ETA."
"2 and 1\2 hours to arrival, Admiral." The Captain replied.
"Excellent." He paused. "What is the status of the construtino teams?"
"They report that they are ready to go. We may begin construction upon our arrival."
"Excellent. I'm afraid because of more pressing matters, however, that we will not be able to stay long." Teebo said.
"That's fine. I'm sure the crew will be glad to return to Calamari anyway."
'Ah, yes, as will I, Captain." Then Teebo went silent, deep in thought once more. It had been a long time since his last visit to his homeworld, the capital. Far too long. He would have to change that.
It was not so bad, though, because, unlike his previous planets, Ando and Da Soocha were both covered in water, and served to make him feel slightly more comfortable. But they were still nothing like Calamari. Everything there was so alive. Nothing could compare.
And he longed to see Alyssa. He had left her on Mon Calamari, because, unlike him, she had never spent more than a few days away, and did not like to go any longer. He would see her when he got back.
It had been more than three months since he was last on the planet, far too long a time. He had been attending political matters, petetioning for more governments to join the Mon Calamari Republic. Some outright refused, others said that they would think about it. Ando, so far, had been the only to agree.
He was looking to bring the TIon Hegenemony into the Mon Calamari Republic as well, but the planets there were very uncivilised, and hardly could claim to have stable governments. Perhaps he would have to take them by force, and erect new governments, ones effective for the peoples of the worlds, unlike the dictatorships and monarchies that existed now.
Teebo turned to face his Captain once more. "I'm going back to my quarters. Inform me when we arrive."
"As you wish, Admiral."
  • Posted On: Dec 24 2002 4:33pm
When Teebo reached his quarters, he flopped dwon onto his waterbed, and stared at the wall, watching a predator fish hunt down an unsuspecting blue fish that was swimming casually. He watched the predator hunt its prey for some time, but it never once did attack it.
After a while, Teebo fell asleep.
<hr />
He was awakened by a beep from his comlink.
"Admiral, we will arive at Da Soocha in five minutes. You're presence is requested on the bridge." The Captain said.
"Alright, I'll be right up." He flicked off the comlink, and strolled out of his quarters, heading the bridge.
When he got there, the captain informed him that they would be arriving in thirty seconds. He watched the timer count down, and when it reached zero, the star lines faed back nto dots, and he saw Da Soocha before him.
It was an average sized planet, completely covered in water, save for a cluster of small islands near the equator.
"Is the construction team ready?" he asked.
"Yes, Admiral. We can begin construction when we get the equpment in position." the Captain said.
<hr />
Twenty minutes later, a young Mon Cal, which Teebo identified as a part of the construction crew rushed onto the bridge. He walked up to Teebo and saluted.
"Sir, when we were scanning for possible build sites, we discovered a large amount of metal in the North-Eastern Hemisphere." The Mon Cal said.
"Large amount of metal?" Teebo questioned.
"Yes, but our sensors are not detailed enough to discover what type, or what it is."
Teebo turned to the bridge crew. "Scan the area. It could be potential minerals."
"Yes, sir."
After a while, one of the officers turned back to Teebo. "Admiral, our sensors indicate it to bethe hull of a ship"
"A ship?" Teebo said. "What the hell?" He paused to think for a moment. "Send out an investigation team."
"Yes, sir."
<hr />
A team of twenty Mon Cals flew down to the wreckage in a shuttle, all dressed in the underwater suits used for mining on Calamari. The teams' lead, Akhad, was speaking to them.
"Sensor scans indicate the wreckage to be several thousand feet below the water. We will pilot down a shuttle and attempt to determine the shis origin." He paused.
"If at all possible, we will attempt to enter the ship and recover possible records on why it crashed. Understood?"
There was a murmer of arroval.
The underwater investigation team boarded the sub and headed down to the crash. On the way down Akhad noticed debris floating in the water, most likely pieces of the hull that had broken off.
"Sensors indicate that the ship should be right... there." he pointed at a large, very large mass in the distance. As the sub approached, he began to make out details on the hull, and gasped in horror at what he saw.
"That's a Mon Cal design." he said, breathlessly. What the hell?
"Alright." he said. "Let's go check it out." The team piled out of the small sub and activated their jets. As they got closer to the hull, Akhad noticed blast marks, as if it had been fighting... and lost.
"That thing is huge." He said. It was over 4000 M long, from what he could determine. As tey continued to float around the wreckage, he noticed some letters on the side, but they were covered in algae, and too difficult to read.
"Let's clear off that Algae, and see what this sucker was called." he said. He moved down closer and pulled on the algae. It all came off in one big chunk. Someone behind him gasped.
"It's the Grand Liberty." They said.
"I always thought that was a legend." Akhad said breathlessly. There was legend off a massive Mon Calamari exploration ship called the Grand Liberty. It was said to have been built 30 years ago as an exploration ship. It was extremely heavily armed and armoured, and it's mission was to explore the galaxy for planets that the Mon Cals could colonize. It had disappeared, and no one knew what happened to it. Most people believed it to be only a myth. Until now.
"We have to get inside here." Akhad said. "See if you can find an entrance."
"Over here." One of the team members called, waving them over. A large chunk of the hull had been ripped off, exposing the inside of the ship. The team went inside.
They were in what appeared to be a small side corridor. "Let's split up and see what we can find." Akhad said. He headed off down the corridor in search for something, anything, that would tell him something about why it was here. Not knowing where he was going, he took random turns, looked in empty rooms, and found himself standing in front of a door labelled 'Bridge'. He had found the bridge.
He pulled open the rust covered door, and what he saw made him want to through up. Mon Cal bodies were everywhere, in various states of decay, bloated and disgusting. Some had some form of mutated algae growing on them, and some appeared to have been eaten by some type of fish.
Akhad pushed his way past the bodies, but something caught his eye. One of the bodies had, clenched in his hand, a waterproof container with the words 'In the Case of Discovery' printed on it.
Akhad heart leapt into his throat. The must have known that they were going to die, and had compiled something in hopes that somebody would find it. He pulled it out of the dead Mon Cal's hands, and sginalled the rest off his team.
"I think we've found what we're looking for."
<hr />
A while later, Akhad was in the conference room, surrounded by numerous Mon Calamari officers, all anxiously awaiting the opening off the capsule. Teebo had it now, and was examining it. He pushed a button on the side, and with a hiss of air, it opened. It was fulled with three reader discs. Teebo pulled them out.
They were all labelled. They wer:
Grand Liberty Schematics
Grand Liberty Mission Summarization
Crash of The Grand Liberty
"I don't believe it." Teebo said.
  • Posted On: Dec 24 2002 4:47pm
After reading the discs, everyone was speechless. 30 years ago, the Grand Liberty had set out to Da Socha, thinking it would be a god planet to colonize. Upon arriving, however, they discovered that there were four Imperator-Class Star Destroyers in orbit.
Grand Liberty had broadcasted their intentions as an exploration vessel, but the Star Destroyers opened fired. The combined firepower of the Star Destroyers overwhelmed theGrand Liberty and sent it spiralling down to the planet.
On the way down, the Captain of one of the Star Destroyers sent a final message to the Grand Liberty. He had said "We are of the Asimilayan Empire. In thirty years we shall end the petty lives of every last one of you damned water dwellers." and then they had left the Grand Liberty to crash.
As a last ditch attempt to warn their peoples, the crew had compiled everything into the box in hopes that someday someone would find it.
But what shocked everyone was that it was now thirty years after this crisis.
After a while, Teebo spoke up. "We must begin to prepare to defend against this foe. I want the base here constructed immidiately." he paused, thinking. "The Viscount shall return to Ando to fortify there. It is impossible for these Asimilayans to know of our activities here. We must mobilize all available forces to defend Calamari and Ando." He stopped, waiting.
"Well let's get moving!" he said. Everyone got up quickly and began running around. The construction crews deployed thier facilities in record time, and the Viscount returned to Ando to prepare for the assault.
  • Posted On: Dec 24 2002 5:30pm
The Viscount arrived at Ando in record time. When it reached Ando, Teebo immidiately began broadcasting an emergency message, puuting the whole fleet on alert. 1/3 of the fleet was at Ando, 2/3 at Calamari.
37 hours after the Viscount arrived at Ando, it began.
"Admiral!" an officer shouted. "An Imperator-Class Star Destroyer has just entered the system!"
"Open a channel." Teebo said. "Give me a visual!"
He saw an evil-looking human materialize on his viewscreen.
"This is Jeori Teebo of the Mon Calamari Republic." he said. "You have brought an armed combat vessel into Mon Calamari space. State your intentions immidiately!"
"This is Captain Gargad of the Asimilayan Empire. The extermination of the water dwellers has begun!" the Captain said, and cut the broadcast.
"Open fire." Teebo said. Green and blue bolts of energy lashed out from the warships to strike at the Star Destroyer. It returned fire, making a quick pass against Teebo's fleet, then turned to jump out of the system The captain made one last message before he left.
"We shall kill you all!" Then it left.
"Track its course." Teebo said. "I want to know where it is going!"
"Admiral, we traced it's vector to that of an uninhabited system in the Tion Cluster. Would you like to head there?"
"Not yet. Have the fleet on full alert." Teebo said.
"As you wish, sir."
Now this was an interesting puzzle. 30 years ago, the Grand Liberty is taken out of action, and now these Asimilayans strike again. An interesting puzzle indeed.
Teebo had to wonder why though. The Asimilayans seemed single mindedly bent on commiting genocide on the Mon Calamarians. But why? That question would have to be answered in due time.
But he knew he had seen that Star Destroyer somewhere!! He just couldn't remember. It had been recently too. Less than a day ago.
And then it came to him. His dream! Of course! Hadn't they said in the end that they were going to destroy all of the water dwellers! Perhaps it wasn't a dream after all. Perhaps it was a vision, offered by the force. He should have thought of it more, and not just dismissed it. It was, after all, different than any other dream he had ever had before.
But why now? He had never been offered a vision before! Perhaps these invaders were a threat to the existence of the Mon Calamari race! He had no idea how big their fleet was. The one offered in his vision was large, but what if they ahd more? What he had seen was no match for his forces, but it was obvious that these Asimilayans had prepared for a long time. Perhaps that was merely a single fleet division. Could they control hundreds of planets, and thousands of Capital ships without him knowing? It was possible with all the unknown factors. Maybe the Mon Cals would soon be fighting for their righ to very exiastance against a far superior foe. Or maybe they would be strategically raided by a smaller but more tactically adept foe!
This was definetly a major threat to Mon Calamari existence, and they were unprepared! He would have to do as much as he could to prevent the inevitable.
He would have to call for a meeting of all of the Mon Calamari military commanders and politicians to discuss their options. Should they go and attack the retreat of the Star Destroyer? Should they fortify in hopes of defending? Should they do one of thousands of other options available? Only time could tell.
Teebo then realized he was probably overreacting. It was most lik ejust some mercenary group that had managed to secure a few Imperial capital ships, and hated all Mon Cals. But, then again, what about the Executor-Class Super Star Destroyer? That was more than a match for any ship in his fleet. Hopefully they only had that one. Hopefully thier fleet was only that of what he had seen in his vision, or else he knew that they may not survive.
And that was a concept he could not bear to accept. MCR would have to do something, and fast. Perhaps send a scout ship? That was probably the best option.
It was risky, though. WHat if it was simply blown up on arrival? He didn't want to sacrifice any more Mon Calmari lives than neccessary.
But he did know that he needed more information, needed it fast. He should have tried to capture the Imperial Star Destroyer, instead of letting it freely leave. That would have helped him greatly.
The problem was that for thier next attack they would undoubtly bring as much firepower to bear as possible, and he may not be able to capture that ship.
No matter what he did, he would not have enough time. He had to do something, do something fast. Perhaps he could fortify at Da Soocha? But could he afford to leave Mon Calamari and Ando lightly defended?
For everything he could possibly do, he would need more information. He had to send a scout ship. Or maybe he should just commit to an all out attack? But if he did that, he would leave his planets undefended, and the Asimilayans could swoop down and take them.
That was something he definetly could not afford to do. He needed the shipyards, the crews, the resources. No, his best option would be too wait, and perhaps send a diplomatic envoy to thier world.
But, then again, it would likely get destroyed. And if it did, he could then recruit more Mon Cals, because they would hate the enemy. ut he didn't want to make any sacrfices, unless someone volunteered, which he highly doubted would happen. If he commanded someone to go, he was sure that they would do it, be he could not commit himself to such horrendous acts.
He would have to decide at the council. He truned to face his Captain. "What is the status of the base at Da Soocha?"
"They finished costructing it in record time, Admiral. Da Soocha is now secure." The captain replied.
"Excellent." Well, at least something had gone right today. Da Soocha was their's.
