The chamber had an old musty scent to it, one that Yassk had long gotten used to, even enjoyed. The scent hinted at the chambers ancient history, a history that was slowly being unburied as his minions continued to carefully excavate. They had found many interesting things any normal archeologist would have given his left arm for, but the various pieces of pottery and other day to day items held little interest to him. What he was really interested in was the book they managed to uncover.
The book was thick and fragile due to it’s age, its ancient leather binding threatening to disintegrate at any moment, along with the frail pages within. It was taking all his skills with the Force to prevent it from falling to pieces in his hands as he handled it. Knowing how important this book was and not wanting to handle the ancient tome any more then necessary, he had the foresight to bring a scanner along and was carefully turning each page so the device could scan the ancient runes and record them into his datapad. Once completely scanned and saved he would have the tome sealed away and preserved, while he looked at the scans at his leisure. He had no intentions of putting the book in a museum, where it really belonged, but Yassk knew that would be too risky.
Too risky because this was no ordinary book they had discovered. This was an ancient religious tome, but not one hailing the Scorekeeper. Indeed this tome spoke of a different god, a rival deity that had long ago been forgotten by most of his people: Attrakkal, the God of War. What’s more is that within this tome was a prophecy, one that foretold the resurrection of Attrakkal and the fall of not only the Scorekeeper, but of the inferior races that polluted the galaxy. Yassk had known of the prophecy long before this, having been taught it as a child by his father, who learned it from his father and so on. He belonged to a small cult of Trandoshans that still believed in Attrakkal and was their current leader. The discovery of this old shine to Attrakkal hinted that the prophecy will soon be set into motion and as he skimmed the ancient runes in the tome as it was being scanned he recognized some of the signs that he knew had already happened and a few that he needed confirmation that had happened.
Uncertainty brings revolution.
Revolution brings unnatural peace.
Unnatural peace beings fall of last avatar.
A group of dark inferiors grows.
Kin join an inferior group.
War between kin threatens to destroy all.
When the white of life creates the black of war,
And the white gives up life for sake of the black,
Attrakkal will be reborn.
Attrakkal will bring war to the inferiors.
Kin will rule over all.
Yassk knew the Separatist Movement had to be the revolution that brought the unnatural peace, a peace that, while allowing them to recover their forces, degraded their pride and stature by being friends with the Wookiees and other races. The fall of the last avatar he knew had to be the K’Satizitus, the spirit that had been passed on from father to son in the K’Satikur Clan. That one he had yet to get confirmation on, for the Clan was not being forthcoming about it’s ‘status’. He knew the last welder, Trazu, had fallen completely to the spirit, the spirit having completely taken over his body. But that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore now according to reports and he needed to know why: did Trazu get control again…or did they somehow manage to finally banish the spirit for good?
The dark inferiors he knew to be the New Order, a threat that in their weakened state could easily bring their races extinction. Joining the Galactic Coalition, the other inferior group the prophecy mentioned, only raised that threat and degraded their people even more. To him, it was dark time indeed with his people, especially with the obvious separation of interest between his people. He knew a large number of Trandoshans were gearing up for a revolution of their own, some that would bring total disaster to their people. He knew he had to convince them that their own were not the enemy, but that would be a tall order considering he wasn’t sure what the next two lines meant: When the white of life creates the black of war, And the white gives up life for sake of the black, Attrakkal will be reborn.
He was making a guess that the reports of a white Trandoshan running around had to be the ‘white of life’ the prophecy was referring to. The irony was though that this Trandoshan acted more like an agent of death: her exploits in assassination were not unknown. Still, considering she was the first white scaled Trandoshan to even make it to adulthood meant to him that she had to be the one. The second part of that line seemed to suggest a black scaled Trandoshan would be born, something never seen before, and the last part sounded obvious: the white scale will die so the black scale would live.
It was at this point he discovered something profound. He had found the passage in the book itself that told of the prophecy, but it seemed longer then it should. Had parts of it been forgotten until now? He couldn’t wait for the scanner to copy the text to his datapad and instead studied the runes on the tome itself. Yes indeed, there were more lines, more clues to the puzzle that was the prophecy: The blood of Kradvrak will turn white and the white will join with the blood of the last avatar.
This left him both intrigued and puzzled. Kradvrak was the last of a long line of high priests that served Attrakkal and as far as Yassk knew, Kradvrak had no offspring. The K’Satizitus had no offspring of it’s own, so that line must be referring to the K’Satikur line, perhaps Trazu himself. According to his contacts, Trazu had been seen around the white Trandoshan he believed to be part of the prophecy. Could it be that somehow Kradvrak had passed his line in secret? Yassk was determined to find out.
While still scanning the rest of the tome, Yassk accessed the database that tracked the family trees of all Trandoshans. He knew the white Trandoshan’s sire was a man named Besk, so he started there….
