Aboard the Imperial Star Destroyer Eternal Fire he stared out the veiwport. It had been a common case among those new to space to experience naseua when looking out a viewport during a hyperspace jump, he thought it looked rather beautiful in fact. They didnt know what they were missing

"Status report ensign"

"Sensors show the fleet is right behind sir, our main wing is all accounted for sir"

"And Assault Flotilla Charlie?"

"A few minutes behind us sir"

He fidgeted a bit, the suit was made of some sort of hard fabric, he wouldnt get used to the new military uniforms, he just knew it. Maybe his taylor could do something about it, like cotton or something

"Sir, advanced scout Sin Four is reporting back in a tightbeam transmission from system."

Well, that was good, if they hadnt then that would indicate any amount of gravity feilds might have been in place. That or any enemy fleet with reliable sensor systems.

"And?"

"Minimal defense sir, none of the Empress systems... not reading any planetary shields. They're giving us the clear signal sir"

"Aye, clear Assault Flotilla Charlie to bypass us and enter system. Contact Sin Four and inform them to get the gravity feild distance from the planet and send it back to Assault Flottilla Delta, they know the plan"

"yes sir, Admiral Servis sir"

He turned back to the viewport, he could feel them, the Charley flotila, passing them by, exiting hyperspace. They would follow soon. Byss deserved to be Imperial, and this gift would be bestowed upon them, in full force.

<!--EZCODE BOLD START--> Ahhh, the Majesty...<!--EZCODE BOLD END-->

<!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> The Vice Admiral sighed contentedly as the 200 Dreadnoughts of Katar Fleet revertedd to realspace in system. This had been the first time in a while, excluding Yaga Minor, when he had seen so many ships come into system. Luckily this time he was not to be on the receiving end.<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->

"Eternal Fire, this is Guardian Wing, we are sending out ID ping in 3..

2...

1..."

<!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> The was a slight pause, before a tiny squelch was heard onboard the ships comm suite signifying that the 72 members of Guardian Wing and their state of the art TIE Shadows were ready for combat. They were all in position, except for one squadron, the personal squadron of Vice Admiral Dakkon Blackblade himself, Magenta Squadron, who were moving towards the <!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->Eternal Fire<!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> at speed. He quickly docked and his replacement saluted before climbing aboard his craft to return to the squardon, then wing. He was still in his flight suit as he stepped aboard the Bridge.<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->

"Officer on the deck!"

<!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Dak threw a quick salute before turning to his XO.<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->

"I have the helm"

"You have the helm sir."

<!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> They nodded to eachother reassuringly.<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->

"What is the Fleets status Commodore Kashlinkov?"

"Sir, we have formed up in a 50-50-50 formation, with an additional 50 Dreadnoughts in reserve."

"Excellent, have 10 Dreadnoughts from each flank of our centre break off and join the wings we will have a weaker centre, but a much more powerful set of flanks. And with our numbers, we should crush them. Also, move our 50 dreads on the right flank, have them await Orders. We should have a 60-30-60-50 formation, but make sure the 50 are held back slightly behind the battle line. Launch all our fighters, the battlelines should have theirs in a skirmish line but within the protective range of their support ships guns and have their squadron leaders notified that there is a recycle area behind the main line, the flankers should have theirs part of the right flanks skirmish line awaiting their movement and have Guardian wing on full cloak, just behind out left flank. Also, the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Eternal Fire's<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> fighters should loiter behind the central line and react as the situation dictates."

<!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> The assembled floatila commanders nodded, knowing full well the tactical position they would be in and the plans were already available should something go wrong with communications. They rose collectively, saluted, and dashed to their shuttles, to take them back to their squadrons and floatillas. After they left, Dakkon turned back to the Commodore and nodded.<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->

"Have them form up as we move towards Byss. Go."

<!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> As one, the fleet picked up speed headed towards Byss.<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->

(Note: The planetary defence manifest has been modified to reflect the unjust loss of Sluis Van and Borleais from our numbers)

<font color=green>The attack on Byss came as little surprise. The Jutraalian Empire was known to be led by a cowards and was a coward as a whole. And so, naturally, they would make an attack on a world that stood a lesser chance of being able to put forth an able defence.

So it was that Commodore Elassar 'Target' Targon, commander of the Galactic Defence Initiative Phalanx Strike Division, was waiting in the sytem, hidden in the intense solar flares and nebulas that surrounded the world of Byss.

<hr>

<font color=red>The Commodore watched as the enemy Dreadnaughts, antiques, appeared and launched their starfighters. This brought a smile to the man's face. The fighters would be easy pickings for his ships.

"Captain," he said, smiling at the younger man who commaned the flagship. "Selected firing only, rearmost targets. Have the EMPRESS systems cloak and come online, they should keep to firing sequence Alpha-One-One-Six."

Immediatly, the orbital stations activated their cloaking devices and began their initial powerup sequences. Before the blocking fields went up, however, they transmitted their sesnor data to the waiting ships.

"Targets aquired, sir. Readying the fleet to fire."
"Fire at will." The ships rocked violently as well over 6000 proton torpedoes and concussion missiles were let loose, streaking across space to explode against the enemy ships. Dozens were destroyed en-route, shot down by fast-moving starfighters or colliding with space debris. Still others shorted out or simply broke up due to stress.

But even ten score of missiles destroyed, twice that number, barely made a dent to the oncoming hoard...

<!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Sirens blarred as the missles were launched, but Dak smiled calmy even when some of the crew shouted to brace themselves. The cast furtative glances at their CO as he stood there cooly.<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->

"Track their exit points. We've just found their fleet."

"Sir, there radiation is blocking any kind of track!"

"Then use your eyes. Those a Proton Torps, with guidance they can only go to their target, they cannot maneuvre before attack. So just trace back from where they die in a straight line and we will find them..."

"From where they die s..."

<!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> A shout from the helmsman cut off the Captain.<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->

"The torpedos have dropped off our scopes!"

<!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Dakkon cast the Captain a bemused look.<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->

"Torpedos have a range of approximatly 2.5km. We are 8km from the nearest possible obstruction or hiding place, let alone Byss itself. Helmsman, have men track the course of the missles as i ordered."

"Of Course sir. Preliminary reports from other ships indicate they are behind us, hidden amongst Solar flares or something. The radiation prevents us from getting anything concrete."

<!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> Dakkon nodded, knowing that the GDI man had just tipped his hand.<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->

"Which means they needed to have some systems inplace to relay that information... Ensign, i need a report on any transmissions prior to the launchings that headed towards the beleived location of their fleet. And pinpoint their whereabouts..."

<!--EZCODE UNDERLINE START-->5 minutes later.<!--EZCODE UNDERLINE END-->

"Sir, we have a general area... Along with information based on their probable movement and orbiting speeds."

"Excellent work! Task Guardian Wing to break up and move to take out those EMPRESS systems. Have them move on full cloak. They should still have enough power to at least activate skipper mode should combat begin. Also, we should remain out of range of any potential threats. We should have more than enough time to prepare for them.

Finally, ready our landing ships, there is nothing between Byss and us, for their cowardly actions have left our objective open to us. Make it so."

<!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> The Ensign quickly ran about his tasks, they landingcraft were readied but not launched, and Guardian Wing was off on its satellite hunting.<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->

<font color=red>"Sir, as you predicted the enemy has detected our general location. Several of the enemy ships are turning to engage us."

The Commodore nodded, a smile creeping onto his features.

"Ensign, commence Phase Two. Sound the alert." The lights strobed and an alarm siren went off thrice, alerting all crew of the impending action.

"Sir, all wings report readiness to make the jump." Elessar smiled more openly now, and nodded.

"As we planned, people. Group One, set your sensors to broadcast to the fleet. Groups Two and Three should arrive five seconds after and fire to volleys immediatly into the enemy flanks.
"Let's do this."

Closer to the planet, the EMPRESS systems would be almost ready to begin their own attack, their systems now charging up to deliver their first blow.

As the Commodore watched the Dreadnaughts move into their positions, the first ships made the jump. The Star Destroyers vanished, appearing seconds later almost a dozen kilometres closer to the planet, and opened fire. Several of the ancient cruisers were caught up in the fire, but for the most part it served only to distract them from the real threat.

Mere seconds later, the other groups arrived in flanking positions, screaming towards the enemy fleet. The starfighters, Missile Gunboats all, fired immediatly, and as soon as their warheads were off they scatted and engaged their SCRAM Boosters.

The last volley came from the slightly slower, and much larger, Imperial Torpedo Spheres. Their sensor data was ignored by the crew, who chose instead to deliver their warheads into the enemy fleet almost at random.

"Major, have the fighters regroup and prepare to ward off a starfighter assault. Damage reports for all our ships, estimations of enemy damage as they come in, please."

OOC:

"Now what we're lookin' at here... is a <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> failure<!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> to <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--> communicate<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->..."

... And RP without stretching the boundaries of reality...

Eheh.

Now you get to suffer through all this bullshit... and then we'll see whether you nitwits ever want to pull your rediculous arguments again.

Issue # 1: The Torpedos

Oh, well, here's a neat little bit of information from the starwars.com information databanks in reference to proton torpedos...

"The energized torpedoes carry a devastatingly powerful blast, and can be fired at much greater ranges than the standard laser cannon."

What's this mean? Well, it means that since standard turbolasers and medium sized laser cannons typically fire at a range of approximately 5 km in space, logically one would be lead to the deduction that proton torpedos can be effectively used at distances AT LEAST greater than 5 km, and so the 2.5 km stuff is therefore complete bulla shitta.

I'm assuming this 2.5 km range information was taken from fighter games such as TIE Fighter (which rocks) and X-Wing. Remember, kids, that while the information used in these games make for GREAT game play... its usually pulled straight out of the makers arses... just like some of the posts you boys litter TRF with (just trying to help you all relate...)

Now, to settle your stupid little dispute, if the 2.5 km range HAD been the case, no Isstal, they would not still have caused damage. No, they would not have stopped moving, but I'm sure they would either self destruct once it has reached their maximum operational limits, or have simply "dudded out" and kept on going. In that case, they would still impact the enemy shields... they would just do absolutely nothing explosive wise.

This is NOT the case, however, as the proton torpedos should not have any problem covering the said distance, and so the damage of the initial volley of 6,000 proton torpedos fired by Isstals starfighters stands. This is not to say that 6,000 missles hit the Dreadnaughts. There's a little something called "allowing the opponant to respond" before self-inflicting several hundred thousand SBD of damage to enemy forces!

It's quite likely that a very large number of proton torpedos could have been taken out by the fighters deployed by Heir, or Dak... or whoever the hell.

I would refer you, Isstal, to rules # 1 and 2 under the Battle Rules sub-section of the Fleet Rules section in the Rebel Faction Rules page, but I get the funny feeling that you already know all about that and are just being a @#%$ idiot.

That's that.

Issue # 2: About your starfighters... Isstal.

You being a moron should give you no excuse for getting the rules bent for you. If you are dumb enough to build the wrong thing, you are stuck with that wrong thing.

This would have been my ruling, HOWEVER, the fact that gunboats are 15 m and you were building 10 m craft (which is the size of the missle boats you wanted, I'll assume), presents a problem. And so, you are saved by your own stupidity.

I had originally planned on ruling that you would be stuck with the gunboats, but for that little size issue.

And so you get your damned missle boats.

And then... that's that.

Now lets address this little issue some people call "playing fair". In the world of tactical fleet RPing, you all must come to realize that you are not the only person on the battlefield giving orders. And so... flying up to an enemy force, launching thousands of weapons, beating off in their face, tieing your shoe, and then preparing for another round is NOT, I repeat NOT ACCEPTABLE!

I'll cite the rules page again when it says very clearly, in one clean, precise sentence "You must allow the enemy time to reply".

That's really what most of your problems are boiling down to here.

When you order something... Your enemy gets to respond. You don't get to say. "I fire 5,000,000 pea shooters and Billy Bobs fleet, and 3/4ths of it is destroyed". That is what you are doing, Isstal, in so many words.

And so I will ask you to edit any posts in which you posted damaged inflicted upon your enemy, and allow THEM to reply before coming forth with numbers, regardless of how realistic they may be if all went as planned, of how many enemy ships were destroyed.

THIS, my friends, is how you RP fairly.

I trust that you all (mainly Isstal, in this specific instance), will be mature enough to edit your posts accordingly. If I'm not satisfied... I'll edit the posts for you. And I get the feeling you wouldn't like how I edit it.

If you have OOC questions or arguments to spew at me or at eachother, I would direct you to our dandy little OOC forum. It's a lovely place. You might enjoy it.

Now that I have gone through the 10 minute process of deleting each and everyone one of your fricking OOC posts, you may continue with your RP.
