A Troubled Sleep

"You misunderstand."
(She gave Kahn a hug.)
"I lived and died a Jedi. Ahnk's mother, yes, was a full blown Jedi Master. I wanted my son to follow in my footsteps. He even trained to be a Jedi."
(She touched her hand to the swamp, and the corpse of Ahnk floated to the surface.)
"He could still become a Jedi."
(She brushed her hand across his face and washed off the tatoos marking him Sith.)
"Forgive him... I forgive you... rise him and help him... back to good."

Normally, Kahn wouldn't have even thought about bringing a Sith back from the dead. But...it had been his fault Ahnk died...and maybe it would help the guilt go away. A small voice in the back of his head told him that would make him responsible for any wrongdoing Ahnk made if he were given a second chance at life, but he ignored it. This was the right thing to do...wasn't it?

"Would he be....the same...if I bring him back?"

What Kahn meant was would Ahnk be hateful, bent on revenge, and bent on turning Kahn back to the Dark Side. Would he be the same person Kahn had killed?

"Weren't you a muderous, vengeful boy once Kahn?"
(She eyed him up and down.)
"You changed. Everyone can change."

Kahn frowned. Yes, he had once been a Sith...but he hadn't been as far gone as Ahnk had. He had still been a child, young and impressionable. The Padawan was unsure if Ahnk was still capable of being moved to the Light.

"Wouldn't you rather have him with you, one with the Force as you are?"

"He is not."
(She sighed.)
"He is a deeply troubled sould in a sea of insanity. His force is lost amogst the pool of dead Sith, insane, unfocused, upset. I would have him become a Jedi before he joins me here... it was his dream. It is my dream."
(She turned.)
"Please Kahn. It is the Jedi way... he can change, he was just a child like you, but he had no one to guide him... help him. Please..."

Kahn was struggling with his feelings, knowing they could cloud his judgement. Jedi DID try to help whenever they could, to show mercy whenever possible. And there had to be good in Ahnk, somewhere....

"Alright, I'll do it. But how do I know Ahnk just won't kill me after I bring him back? I'm sure he's not to happy with me being the cause of his death."

As Kahn said that a wave of guilt washed over him, and he had to force himself to relax and not tense up as the image of Ahnk's dead body filtered through his mind.

"Hard to see, the future is."
(Han walked over and disrupted the conversation.)
"Listen, Kahn, time is of the essence. You have about, um, two days to get to Korriban and find the placeamabob to fix up your good buddy Ahnk. You gotta go to Yavin first, and pick up the clones."
(He snapped his fingers.)
"Wake up."

Kahn opened his eyes and found himself back in his room. He thought for a few moments about the dream before making a decision. He was going to make up for what he had done, make it better. Quietly, the Padawan packed his things. It was time to head to Yavin, then to Korriban. Though the Jedi did not realize it, his guilt had clouded his judgement somewhat.

(Kahn faded into reality and the two remained in the forest. Inside Kahn's brain, the two selaed lost in death, soon to life.)
(The red headed woman resembeling the mother of Ahnk twisted and warped into the frame of a dark and brooding man, tall, with a saber hilt at his belt and a feral smile across his lips.)
"So, will he do it?"
(And Han Solo turned. A fleck of black spread across his forehead until Ahnk smiled back at his master.)
"I will live again."

Kahn felt a brief moment of uneasiness suddenly, as though something wasn't right. The feeling disappeared quickly though, and he chalked it up to not enough sleep and troubled dreams. Kahn borrowed a shuttle and headed to Yavin, telling no one of his intentions on the journey. Hours later he reached the planet, and reeled back for a moment, feeling the Dark Side engulfing it. However, none of it was able to seep into him as it had before. He left the shuttle and headed in the direction of where Ahnk had held him before.
