United Malastare Worker's Union Chairman Cassius Wolit walked down the long Brandt Enterprises hallway.

To his left side, walked Lagutos, his personal Dug body guard. Lagutos had been there from the beginning. He had been there when the Socialist Party of Malastare had been birthed. Lagutos was extremely loyal and competent. He was also deadly with almost any type of weaponry.

To his right side, walked a fellow Gran named Noktu Tan. Noktu was his personal securtary and best friend.

Cassius reached the end of the hall. He entered the office of Brandt Enterprises Executive-Vice President.

Brandt Enterprises had the support of the entire population. The corporation had done so much for the industrial world. Jobs, housing, credits, and transportation to name a few. With the vocal support of Zim Brandt's corporation, Presidency for Cassius would be a sure a thing.

Wolit sat down in front of Taku Grange.

"Mr. Brandt ask me to relay the message that you now have the support of Brandt Enterprises. An add campaign supporting you and funded entirely by Brandt Enterprises will begin tommorrow. In one month's time you will be the President of Malastare."

It took all of Cassius's quickly learned political training to keep his mouth from dropping. He had began his life as a miner. Then he had been elected the head of his company's union because no one else wanted to do it. When Brandt Enterprises set up shop on Malastare the union structure had exploded do to the influx of off planet laborers. He had moved up through the ranks to the head of union and then united them all.

In one month's time, the working man would get his fair share.

Cassius Wolit thanked Mr. Grange and then left the building.

"Noktu begin composing my inauguration speech and decrease the Nationalist Party hack adds."

Two Months Later

Cassius sat down behind his new desk. He was the President of Malastare now and many changes have already been made. The former Nationalist party had been extremely corrupt and resistant towards the help that Brandt Enterprises had offered. The Worker's Union was taking advantage of this as much as possible.

The party had also gained a large majority in Malastare's Senate. Much of the etiquette involved with passing and repealing laws had been slashed to make way for rapid progress. Many laws restricting government control of industry had been thrown out.

Union and Brandt Enterprises men now held the coveted cabinet and court positions. It almost seemed as if the Nationalist party had been pushed under the rug.

Factory quotas were up as much as ten fold in some areas. Wages were now paid out according to out put. The workforce was happier. They were excited to work harder to get paid more money. (Not to mention that their Union buddies and those nice folks from Brandt Enterprises were running things now instead of those greedy Nationalists)

People were happy with their government. After the province elections in a few months, the Union would gain more control through governors. Malastare's budget had been slashed to pieces. Every single expense had been examined. The government was paying two hundred credits for hydrospanners any more. The money saved had been poured into health care plans to supplement the one Brandt Enterprises offered, a large public works project, and the most important expense in a galaxy such as this, defense.

Malastare now had a pretty good sized frigate fleet to help its orbital defense network. The fleet was made up mostly of used frigates purchased from junk yards and refitted.

Cassius looked at the latest script for a commercial glorifying the happy worker.

"Red leather, purple leather, red leather purple leather," Cassius murmured the tongue tie rhyme quickly as he walked up the stairs.

It I'll be just like the old days: soap box speeches, hootin' and hollerin'.

"Red leather, purple leather, red yellow, purple leather."

Wolit reached the top of the stairs. He straightened the simple grey pressed suit and walked to the podium.

He saw in front of him a sea of Dugs and Grans of both genders united under one banner. The banner of the worker. He began his speech.

"My fellow workers!"

This greeting to his audience was met with a wave of impossibly loud cheers.

"We are gathered here today to celebrate the dedication of the symbol of a new chapter in the history of Malastare, The Workers' Forum!

The Workers' Forum is created from Malastare stone and Malastare metals... and nothing else!

The Workers' Forum was designed and constructed by the architects and artisans of Malastare!

This forum is the gift of the Workers of Malastare to the Workers of Malastare!"

That last sentence was signal. The giant sheets of cloth covering large portions of the forum were dropped. They revealed huge ten-meter tall statues. The statues represented every industry of Malastare including the military. Also a large building became the centerpiece. The building was a tribute to the unity of the fellow races of Malastare.

The revealing of the forum (constructed during the night to be a surprise) drove the audience into even louder cheers. Cassius felt the pride of the workers of Malastare wash over him. He too was proud of what he had accomplished, taking a largely ignored group and turning it into something glorious.

"Citizens of Malastare... stay... enjoy the rest of the celebration so graciously provided by the United Malastare Worker's Union and Brandt Enterprises!"

Finally, a fair share for the workin' man...
