His first assignment, Mike couldn't be happier. But at the same time, he knew nothing about the planet he was supposed to go to. As he looked down at the data pad which held the name of the planet, Mike wished they would have given him more than just a name a coordinates. Ah well, I must do as I am told. Mike thought to himself as he walked over to the ship that would take him there. He knew what he had to do, just not how or even why. The basic answer of making sure the planet didn't go to the empire ran through his mind, but he knew there should be another reason. Getting on the transport, he hoped there would be answers when he got to the planet. As they made their way, Mike kept asking anyone and everyone on the transport to give him any information on what the planet had in store for him. Nobody seemed to know anything and this irritated Mike. Upon arriving, he was mad enough to just leave, but he knew that wouldn't get him anywhere and just calmed down to go see the ruler. The first thing he had to do was to go to the library and see anything they had on their history and who actually ran their planet. This was going to be a long night, but Mike had enough energy and determination.
He had to do this, and later he would get his home world freed. That was the only motivation he needed as he read through the long history hoping for something to work with. A few hours later, he still had nothing except this was a commercial planet run by a council elected from the few villages on the planet. From the archives there were 51 that had votes, and it took a majority to get anything done, which rarely happened.
That was the reason why it seemed very little changes had happened. This was actually some good news, as Mike would have hated to spend all of his night reading through data. The bad news, however, was that they didn’t meet for another year and an emergency meeting could only be called by that same majority. That must have been the reason very few have been called.
For one to happen then, Mike would have to go to at least 26 different villages and persuade them to call a meeting and to agree to join with the coalition. Headaches aside, Mike thought this to be a pretty simple mission. His first thought was that there at least wasn’t any fighting. Not being the greatest fighter, he wanted to only as a last resort.
That would probably be the case, as this planet wasn’t exactly a militarily built planet. Getting on a shuttle, he made his way for the first village and hoped.
