Well, today my band is cramming everyone and a few friends into a bus, and shipping off for a three-hour road trip. We're entering a talent show contest for the Minnesota State Fair.
I've done this enough to know that there's absolutely nothing to be nervous about, you go down, you do your best, and if they like you they like you, and if they don't, they don't. No big deal, right?
Well, all this week the lead singer (my younger sister) has been bouncing off the walls with excitement. Everyone else in the band is cool as a cucumber, but she's ill and then depressed and then excited multiple times an hour.
The twist is that today I woke up very early, with a sick stomach. I got less than six hours of sleep in. Blurg. As main guitar, the song we're playing is dependant on me keeping up a rather simple, but very fast stopping strum. Gosh I hope I don't get too bushwhacked to do it.
So for you Minnesotans out there (yeah, right), you just might see us at the state fair, provided we win today, and next month at the semifinals.
