Any situation in which we fight off the Zombie horde with terminators that then turn on us, only to be taken out by a rogue asteroid carrying a superflu will henceforth be labled Parks Apocalypse.

We truly don't know 'what' we would do in this kind of a situation, though we can speculate and say what we'll do - we won't truly know until it actually happens.

For me, if at all possible:

My family is already partly prepared for such an event, kind of paranoia that runs in our veins. Won't say 'what' exactly, just that we are partly prepared.

Otherwise, as much as I wish I could say, I don't really have much of a plan other than that. If there IS a chance for rescue, this might give me that chance. If not, then I'll be forced to consider leaving the house and possibly scavenging for items:

Pain killers

Water

Canned Food (Or other non-parishables)

Matches

Gasoline (or something else to start fires with)

Flares

Ammo

Heavy duty backpack

Sleeping Bag (if capable)

--

Otherwise, once I had to leave my home (either because I had to, or was forced to) I'd probably leave the city and search for a way to live outside in the wilderness. I know a city can be a good place for shelter, but not with all the gangs we have. Provided some of them survived, it would be their prime chance to exact complete control over a broad area - after all - no police to stop them.

If by chance I came across a group that didn't shoot first and leave me to die, I'd probably join up. There is safety in numbers, but the threat of being backstabbed also increases - so your not entirely safe.

There's no telling what a world such as this might end up as; there's the off-chance that parts of the military could survive and if possible, hook up with them. The other possibility is that you could get together with a large group of people and form your own small community, and work from there.

One things for sure; medical technology will disappear and we will almost certainly be back to the era before we had the ability to treat certain disease's with a mere trip to the doctors. Not only that, but I think I can say for certain that some people won't survive long in that kind of enviroment.

People who rely way to much on technology will almost certainly be the first to go; second will be those who are highly dependent on others, third will be those with certain medical problems (such as bad eye-sight, which would imped your ability to see threats at a distance)

Sadly, we truly don't know what a catalysmic event will bring us. We know for a fact that it WILL happen at some point in our history, either through OUR doing, or by some natural disaster or space-faring disaster. How we respond to it, will ultimately determine whether humanity as a whole lives and continues to prosper, or dies.

One's thing is absolutely certain: If such an event happens, humans will have to come together in peace in order to have ANY chance of progressing technologically and progressing each year. Until then, the odds of progression are slim. Of course, we already know that there will always be someone who wants to lead - yet is incapable of leading.

Only time will tell....
