Did anybody else notice the Seperatist forces tromping through the ground of Kashyyk? WTF? I thought you couldn't do that?

Ya I did notice that exact thing Zark, I was like wait a minute, what the fuck? I thought that it was covered in trees and the surface was the "Shadowlands" where no Wookiees ever travelled.

Apparently Lucas doesn't see Kashyyyk in this way, which is pretty much why he considers only the actual movies to be canon and the official radio dramas to be "canon", everything else to him is expanded universe.

Half of the expanded universe is better than the movies (IE: Thrawn Trilogy/Duology, NJO)

He should take a lesson from it.

Half of the Expanded Universe is better than the movies? Without the movies and their massive success there would be no "expanded universe".

Why does everyone hate on George Lucas so much? Sure Episode I and Episode II had their flaws for sure. But why does everyone act like George Lucas has no clue what he's doing all of a sudden? He made up the Star Wars Universe, it's his to fuck up, bottom line.

If you (not you in particular Joren but anyone of the opinion that George Lucas is an idiot) don't like it, why spend so much time in a Star Wars message board?

Personally I love Star Wars. TPM and AOTC weren't my favorites but I still love Star Wars. And without George Lucas there would be no Star Wars. I have my criticisms of Lucas also but first and foremost I'm gonna give the man props for creating Star Wars in the first place.

That's just my opinion though and if people want to hate on Lucas, to each his own. Just realize that if you do enjoy Star Wars like I'm sure most people here do, he's the one that created it.

The EU has better stuff than Lucas could ever come up with. If he'd bothered to read the description on his own website of Kashyyyk, he'd realize it's way better than his perception of the planet.

I'm happy Lucas created what he did originally but the prequels weren't needed at all in my opinion. He's so obsessed with CGI these days that he thinks the talent of the actors doesn't make a difference - which causes sucky performances by actors who are usually brilliant (Natalie Portman for one).

And from a roleplaying perspective, the cartoons show just the type of uber duper Jedi behaviour that most RP sites have been trying to avoid.

I don't hate George Lucas. I love the original trilogy, if I did not I would not be here.

However, I believe that TPM is horrid and could have been much better (specifically if Jake Loyd had not been in it)

Visually, the star wars universe is Ralph Mquarrie's to fuck up.

I don't think Grevious can use any powers of the Force. He has a chip in his brain that he can learn only the Jedi martial arts. I saw this in Ep3 Visual Dictionary today.

By extension, none of us would be here without the OT. However, it was the Expanded Universe that made me fall in love with Star Wars.

Personally, I draw a seperation between Lucas of 1970 and Lucas of 2000. 1970 Lucas: genius. 2000 Lucas: hack.

It's not even that he wants to fuck with the original trilogy, it's that he wants to do so and make sure anyone born after 1996 cannot see the original trilogy. Ever.

I cite his refusal to make the originals available on DVD despite huge demand for it. From every possible angle it makes no sense: financially, he has little to lose. He wouldn't have do any advertising, since the fans would learn about it irregardless. He wouldn't have to pay anyone anything except to author and press the DVDs. He certainly wouldn't lose any money. From a PR perspective, senelss. He loses the respect of his fans.

Thus, I am forced to conclude that George Lucas is a hack.
