HA! I've actually debated this topic before, and I think I won. They tried to define "pen" as ideals and junk, and a sword as a sword. And I just got up and said "Um... you can't compare a physical weapon to a broad set of ideals... it's stupid." :)
Really, though: the burden of proof is on the Affirmitive. The pen is mightierb. The negative only has to prove that the two deserve equal recognition, which is what I did.

Apparently, her opposition argued by saying that people should put up posters and hand out flyers, etc. instead of fighting wars.

That's right. Keeps the masses down, and really the Governments seek to end certain bloodlines and family trees... they use War to dispose of large quantities of problems legally and for a 'good cause'.
