Empire of Ashes Forum

Empire of Ashes Video Trailer (caution, has sound so if you view at work, be careful)

Fifteen years have passed since the death of Alexander..

His empire was left "to the strongest" and every man now thinks of making himself a King.

The ancient empire of Persia has become a playground for Macedonian noblemen who wield power they could never even have begun to imagine in their mountainous homelands. The armies of the successor kingdoms stand ready to unleash war upon each other on a scale never before imagined.

Against this backdrop other kingdoms plot and scheme - the Greeks do not bend the knee easily to any foreigner and the Macedonian yoke begins to chafe, whilst in the west the maritime empire of Carthage watches as the City of Rome struggles to establish itself on the Italian peninsula. And in the great forests of the north fierce barbarian tribes paint their faces for war, whilst casting envious eyes over the wealthy lands of the decadent civilised nations…

Join Empire of Ashes to take part in this titanic struggle as a new world is forged in the wake of one mans death. Lead mighty armies and prove yourself before your peoples gods, or politic and scheme with the duplicitous ambassadors of foreign nations. You can champion liberty and the rights of the demos or stamp them beneath your heel and declare yourself King of Kings.

Whatever you want to do theirs room to do it in this mixture of RPG and Sim where history is being rewritten!

Well - that's the blurb

Empire of Ashes is a co-operative storytelling forum set in the ancient world. Its run much like a fanfiction in that we all write our chapters and interact with the other players.

The Game is set after the death of Alexander the Great (the Diadochi period), and is based largely on the game Rome: Total War, in that most players represent a different faction (for instance, I - with my very original name - play the Queen of Sparta) - the Romans, the Gauls, the Macedonians, the Persians and pretty much any culture you can think of.

Women are very active on our board because we do deviate from history in that women have a more prominent role than they did in the real world. Queen, warrior, stateswoman, gladiatrix...anything the guys can do, we can do (only better *s*).

We also have soundtrack albums, which you can access if you are an active member of the group (its password protected is all).

One thing worth saying - EOA is a "post-lite" group. Many Gaming forums out there hammer their members for a post quota, forgetting that the "G" in RPG stands for "game." Not us! EOA is something we do in our spare time, for fun. Most of our members are in the 20s to 30s age bracket, which means we have partners, kids, jobs, family time and a dozen other things that keep us away from "gaming." We only ask that you try to post once a week. More is great (most do between 2/3 per week on average), but the "post-lite" rule (if you can call it a rule) works well for everyone.

Anyhow - I hope this is something you guys fancy trying out! If anyone has any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me on - via PM or email or simply post up in the OOC forum. We do give any new member individual attention, a mentor if they need one and help in getting set up as started as quickly...or as slowly as they like.

Hope to see you there!

I must say the trailer is great, very enticing if I were into that genre. Or if I were actively writing period. Kudos to whomever is using Seagal.

Kayla... beautiful. Simply amazing and utterly astounding.

I have to echo Crice in my sentiment that were I a period writer or even more knowledgable about the era, I would certianly join.

Very excellent presentation. Thank you for sharing. I hope you don't mind if I lurk for a while.

Thanks all for the very kind comments. You don't need to a history expert to partcipate, but you do need to have a high standard of writing (so no problems there for you guys).

Yeh - the Seagal thing is great (and I'm particularly proud of the avatar I made for him), I wish the original guy was still playing that character, he really had it down pat. We have a Seagal incumbent at the moment, but shame, she is often too busy to play, which is not so good. Seagal in the game is "Seleucus," the king of kings. Of course, because the avatar is The Seagal, he's taken on a legendary status amongst all the players who cower in fear at his might.

Gue - civilisation is spelt with an an "s" *lol*

Ah.

I remember that place... I used to help the hosts of the board, back in the RPGC days.

I see the design hasn't changed much since then. ;)

Nice work.

Actually, Gue is right if one is from the U.S. We tend to do some things differently over here.
