Behave everyone, or I will close this thread.

I don't mind debate, but when flaming starts the thread stops.

Kurt. I'm sure Rac had no idea what was going/has gone on with your parents.

Don't pounce on him for a perfectly logical question when discussing religion. He apologized and its obvious he meant no harm.

Graaaaaaaaaaaaaaarg! Catholics aren't the only Christians!

There are lots of christians who don't believe that everyone but them burns in hell. In fact, I'm a preacher's kid, and I don't believe in hell at all. (Neither does the preacher, duh).

If God is such a loving and merciful and forgiving God, then would she really send people to be torchered for all of eternity?

Also, some non-Catholics believe that there is no magical spirit that lives in people until they die and then floats away to heaven or hell, we believe in Resurection of the Body.

You should really look into this stuff through legitimate means instead of posting on a Star Wars message board.

Firstly - the Lord is God, not Jesus - -Jesus is the son. People who worship the son of God instead of God himself will be smited for blasphemy. Personally, I was raised Roman Catholic. I grew out of that in my teenage years when I began to think for myself. I pray occassionally and have been known to chat to whomever listens from above but alas I am a firm believe in the Eleventh Commandment

Thou Shall Keep they Religion to Thyself

Onto the subject at hand.

I believe that death is only a continuation of the adventure that begins in this life. One must remember that the Catholic bible was written by men and no man alive or dead has ever truly conversed with god and thus we cannot know what remains on the other side of corporeal life one way or another. The bible says there are two places - or rather the men that wrote the bible say there are two places. What if there are seven - or a hundred? What id each person is given a domain for eternity suited for him - those that have been angelic are treated well, those that have been hellish are treated poorly and those that have been so so receive the best/worst of both worlds. One can never say.

I can say that in my heart I refuse to believe that nothing exists after death. But that is what I believe - for all we know I might be wrong. For all any of us know, we might all be wrong.

Tell me - what of the being that created God? Perhaps the god worshipped by so many here is a minor deity and earth is his toychest and form of amusement? Can we say this is not so - it sounds ridiculous but let us take things literally - two billion people believe in a being they have never seen who lives in the sky.

Steda - I cannot tell you definitively one way or another and anyone who claims they can is lying. All you can do is believe. It is a tremendous leap of faith, but sometimes, no matter what that faith is in, that is all we have.

that is why I question the existance of god because I just can`t believe in something that I haven`t seen or witnessed with my own eyes...

but what if I was teached to go to the chruch every sunday and what if I had read the bible? perhaps I would believe... I think many people actually believe in god or can believe(unlike I) because they have been teached about him since they were children and as a child people don`t actually think that why he couldn`t exist, but I am not saying that someone couldn`t discover god later on....

I am not offending anyone, but just saying that it`s easier to learn to believe as a child and I think many are told about god by their parents...
