The 'Core' system doesn't have wireless controllers, a hard drive, and other bling bling. I'd get the Premium system right out of the box simply because you'll want most of the extras sooner or later and its cheaper to get them that way than seperate.

Some 360 units are having overheating problems right out of the box. Locking up, crashing, etc after about half an hour of gameplay.

They've rushed it in order to get it out for Christmas, basically.

See? This is why I always say wait for the second release of a console at the earliest to buy it! I normally go third or fourth personally. It means less bugs and lower price. *nods*
