Somewhere within me dwells a desire to experience a hurricane firsthand.

She said a Hurricane, not a Tropical Depression Gue.

Ivan has re-strenghted some, now slamming Kingston Jamacia with 155 mph winds, if not higher. Boderline Category 5.

Eek. Although we escaped it, I can't help but feel sorry for the people in Mobile, Ala., and the Biloxi area, plus maybe New Orleans, and Gulfport, Pensacola, and then farther up in Birmingham, Montgomery, and maybe Chattanooga. They'll either get high winds, or high rain totals. After moving inland, it's expected to stall over the Appaclation mountians, and become a major flooding event/disaster. Right now it's still a Category 4 storm with 135 mph winds. Hurricane force winds extend up to 100 miles out from the center, and Tropical Storm force winds up to 260 miles out from the center. They expect hurricane force winds as far inland as 150 miles.

Well, Ivan slammed ashore as a Category 3 just to the east of Mobile Ala. It's weakened to a Tropical Storm, but now the main threat is rain, lots of it, strechting over a wide area. Just look at this:

Rain strecthing from Tampa FL to Detroit Michigan, and from Washington D.C., to Little Rock Arkansas. Some areas will flood with rainfall amounts from 9-13".

I was actually kinda disappointed. There's a few big branches in my front yard, and the power went out for most of the morning and afternoon, but that was about it in terms of damage for me. Oh, and my cat hates me for taking him away from home. :\

Nothing going on in Northern Virginia Kyric?

All of my mom's side of the family lives in Roanoke, Va. Ha I was born there.

But anyways, apparently their piece of Ivan wasn't pleasant. They had problems with tornados...
