I'm related to Jonathon Swift, author of Gulliver's travels, on my mother's side.

My grandmother's maiden name was "Swift", and she frequently reminded us that we were descended from the best writer Ireland had to offer. (Her opinion, not mine.)

(And yes, I actually *am* related to him, that wasn't just my insane grandmother's rationalization. Though she was quite insane.)
