Because it incorporates us. Our idenity is now shared.
And face it, we exist in a tenious space as it is; within the fandom of a multi-billion dollar idea that belongs, very clearly, to someone who has nothing to do with us.

I see. Makes sense and it includes the needed star wars copyright

No, you see, that's a bad thing.
I'd have a hard time pressing my rights within TRF. But that's where Trust becomes the trump. TRF's TOU, the thing we all agreed to, protects TRF.
As it stands, I wouldn't have much issue pressing my rights if, for instance, the issue arose at TGC. I haven't agreed to a TOU for TGC... Only the ezboard TOU... which protects Ezboard...

But see as long as its on each site, why waste space having it on the portal single page site?

It prevents Incorporation.
Unless we wanna pretend that the Portal belongs to a totally unaffiliated 3rd party who has, without permission, gone ahead and done this thing. Otherwise, we're tantamount to a webring. We're tantamount to Incorporated.
Have you ever tried to press your rights within a Corporation? If you're a willing member... it's next to impossible.

That of course is stating that someone is going to try to steal things from eachother's sites because their link is next to each other on a portal page. I personally though think the staff at each site that decides to affiliate to teh idea would have to decide whethr or not they'd want such a safeguard against incorporation. Dont you think so?

I've stated before that I do not trust General Ceel. So no.

What does Ceel got to do with this? If it is a site, Ceel would not run it, we've already established that. If TRF wishes to join in, the TRF staff would choose to have such a disclaimer if they feel it is unnecessary then they wont; TGC would do the same. Ceel has nothing to do with it. Also to run the site, we'd hve to find an indepentent 3rd party would we not? Or someone everyone trusts.

We'd definately be up for this initiative, and I do know there are other communities who were interested. Unfortunately some of the useful discussion of TGC has been removed. I spoke to Samantha Kortyn last night, and feel under certain circumstances she and her co-admin at Epics may want to get involved.
Perhaps it's a good idea to set up a board specifically for the purpose of this discussion? It might prevent any more suspicion of one community trying to monopolise this effort. I don't feel like that, but it might be an idea. Furthermore, seperate discussion topics might direct debate better and allow us to efficiently develop this kernel of an idea into an actual workable plan.

Hello!
I am also posting here to express support for the unification ideas as an admin from Star Wars: Unforeseen Destiny.
I think that - as Jay says - we're all keen to see this idea float, and I believe that with significant independence (ie a single admin from each participating board given certain rights and priviledges over the hub) that this idea could do well.
I am very keen however to see each board given an equal say; yes, some boards are larger than others (I would personally rank SW:UD as a midway point) but I think the smallest should govern the same say as the largest.
My AIM is LenanMiader should anyone wish to discuss further, and SW:UD is linked as my home page. Anyone wishing to contact me are more than welcome to contact me at the board itself, if for other reasons they can't.
