From what I hear, you need to be online for those last few minutes if you seriously want something... that's when the biding war truly begins.

I think they make sniping programs specifically for that purpose. I was outbid three times this way just last week.

Yeah. It's kind of gay when someone is able to place a bid with ten seconds left in an auction - getting a bid in within that time frame is tough.

Growl. I just lost a bid that way last night, because I wasn't able to come online at 4 in the morning. But that's ok, because I just found another copy of the exact same thing. That Acid Bath tape is now at $51 -- and the idiot guy's reserve price STILL hasn't been met. Wtf.

out of curiosity, what is the most expensive or most ridiculous thing you have bought on eBay?

I've never bought anything from eBay. I only registered a few days ago, after I saw the Acid Bath tape on auction.

I'm a coward, so I just got the following on Buy It Now:

FLESHPRESS - 'Worm Dirges' LP (limited to 500 copies on vinyl)
GODFLESH - 'Streetcleaner' tape (out of print)

Yay.
