I like my $40 for a weekend event of LARP. So bleh.
Crack out the markers and let's throw paint. Paintball season is here.
My Bridgestone Potenza G009s have held up well. I'm going to get some serious rubber pending a Miata purchase this summer. 240SX for dirt, Miata for tarmac/daily/fuel sipping track days. I also intend to eventually turbo the 240SX. Rubber consumtion greatly depends on your car's drivetrain and weight. Anything under 250HP and around ~2700lbs or less shouldn't be chewing rubber really hard. Drag will always eat rubber. I don't drag. The only time I will is when the 240SX gets boost, and only once or twice just to find out. The rear suspension design doesn't like to squat and it's tricky to launch well.
I love the Miata... chick car or not. If it weren't for the price and the lack of seats, I would definately be looking... as for the 240? Bleh. 300ZX Twin Turbo... :D
Guess which actually has a better race history, although it wasn't as the 240SX, it was as the 200SX powered by a 2 liter I4 aluminum block single turbo. Same chassis though (S13 or S14, we didn't get the S15). Also, the 300ZX wouldn't be very effective on dirt. The 240SX works well because it is light. Weight is the enemy.
But beyond that, comparing the 240SX to the 300ZX is a bit silly. The 240SX is a small, more agile car without anywhere near the power in American form, while the ZX is a GT car. There is a ~700lbs difference between the two, and the ZX's longer wheel base would be more of a hinderance than a help for the type of racing I do. Besides, the American engine (KA24E single cam for the 89-90 that I have and the KA24DE dual cam for the later models) take incredibly well to boost. Low compression girdled iron block motors with oil squirters under the pistons, huzzah. 7lbs of boost will give me something in the area of 220hp and god knows how much torque, but first a cage and suspension.

I mean as a street car... I'm not into the drag race or AutoX scene, so I can't comment on which car is a better option there. I'll take your word for it. :)
Oh, well yeah. As a street car a 300ZX is a much more comfy and better rounded machine. It's a GT car, after all.
And sexy... I was at Starbucks this morning and there was a 350Z and a 70s Datsun 280Z parked side by side outside... wow... :D
