Is anyone else following Anonymous' attacks on the church of scientology?
Anonymous
What are you talking about?
Yeah, I've been watching with interest. It's pretty cool.
Zell, here's a fairly decent listing of what's going on. You'll have to pick your way around, I don't know of a chronological list. http://reddit.com/search?q=scientology

Interesting, thanks for the link Titus. I didn't even know this was going on.
Partyvan's Project Chanology page is very helpful if you're wanting to see the timeline of things that have happened from when and how it started until now, as well as updates. It's up and down though, so I make no guarantee that it will always load up.
Also, There's an enormous thread over on SA that has tons of info in it as long as you don't mind filtering through many many... many pages.

I've just seen the youtube videos, such as the one where they declared war on Scientology and the hillarious one of Fox News covering Anonymous. Feb 10th is the big protest day right? Wonder if that will turn out to be big and make the news.
Oh those hackers on steroids; not a rolleyes big enough for that or that damn exploding van.
Many of the things that channers do are fun enough to simply watch and get a few laughs from. But this? This is huge, and I have to wonder if it's gone beyond what they had originally intended.
Regardless, it's certainly become an online movement of sorts, and come Feb 10th we'll see whether or not this can be properly coined with that term.
For an idea on how fast this has grown, here is a site that shows 'churches', events, and anon. Keep in mind that this only went live a day or two ago:

Facebook and MySpace groups have formed, radio stations have covered it, news channels across the world have covered it, and not to mention folks like Warren Ellis and Joe Rogan approve of it.
You gotta admit, even thus far it's pretty fascinating to see something like this taking place.

Admittedly I haven't read much on this or watched many of the YouTube videos, but is it really that interested to hear someone "at war" with Scientology? I'd be more impressed if someone came up with a compelling reason as to why anyone should take Scientology seriously.
Read up on Operation Snow White, the Fair Game policy, and Operation Freakout to name a few.
Also, BBC's Panorama did a bit on them. I really recommend watching it.

Pretty horrible reporting.
