I like Simon's writing as much as the next guy - often quite a bit more, even when he's thrashing me! Yet even so, the latest post in the chronicles of Zell doesn't seem about right.
For starters, no one knows that it's Dacian Palestar attacking Xa'Fel. No declarations were made in the battle, Dacian isn't known to the Sith he's currently engaging, and the only communication so far was one from Lord Silk to Telan - a private communication that he has yet to state sharing with the Empire. Even this only mentions "The Palestar Crusade", not any being called Dacian.
Also, the concept of hearing about the Crusade before it intentionally releases itself on the galaxy is underexplored. If you really wanted to discover it, I have no doubt that Imperial agents following threads related to a migration of warriors or pirates into the Unknown Regions might be able to trace this to Dacian, but finding out about it in a few lines from some vaguely described distant outposts (no Imperial bases border on Palestar space) seems a little easy when you consider the whole point of founding the Crusade in the Unknown Regions was to avoid scrutiny.
It'd be the equivalent of figuring out the Union's existance from 'hearing' their secret meetings or some such thing. I'm going to have to ask that either the Empire make a more thorough effort to acquire this information or that it be retracted.
